Chapter 635: Having Fun.

Chapter 635: Having Fun.

"Damn it! I want to be down there!" Pulling on his hair, Kevin leaned back in his chair until it almost keeled over.

Though she kept it to herself, Bella agreed with her teammate wholeheartedly. She wanted nothing more than to be down in the underground level, standing in the first rows to witness her boss fight for the first time.

"Nothing we can do about it." Rayan said. "We drew the short straw."

"Sorry, everyone," Bella said. "My luck ran out at the worst time."

The members of Inferno took turns working as security personnel for the Red Oni Club. Normally, there would be no problems with that, but today was different. No one could have predicted the match their boss was having against the hero Werewolf.

Because of that, they had to resort to a simple lottery to decide who gets to guard the basement and watch the match in person, and who gets stuck guarding the upper floors to ensure no trouble occur. Bella’s team lost, which is why they were standing near the entrance, watching from one of the screens on scattered around.

"This really sucks," Dellen looked around. "There is barely anyone around. The only place that needs guarding is the arena."

Though not all the customers went down, the dance floor was practically empty. Those who remained were gathered around the projected screens, watching as the match started.

"Well, when you thing about it, it doesn’t really matter if you’re down there or not." Rayan said. "Most people can’t keep up with the boss when he gets serious, so they’ll be watching from a screen anyway."

"That’s-"

Just as Keven was about to argue, the club’s entrance parted with a bang, and all their heads turned in its direction. A small procession made their way inside, and going by the clothes they wore, Bella and the others knew immediately that they were going to be trouble.

"What’s this?" The man leading the way said. "I thought today was some grand reopening."

He was blonde and a little above average in height, thought the black suits in the back made him look smaller. The arrogance in the way he walked and talked painted him as just another rich brat looking for trouble. If Bella had one Gold for every time some pampered assholes came to cause them trouble, she would have had two by now, which isn’t much, but it’s strange that it happened twice in the same day.

"Should we turn them around?" Kevin asked.

"They haven’t done anything wrong." Rayan said. "Yet."

Reaching the area Bella and the others used as their watch spot, the blonde man gaze at them with disgust then turned his eyes to their screen.

"Uh-oh..."

His eyes narrowed as he watched the boss and the hero go at it. He then looked at the ground, likely having noticed the noise coming from below.

"No one told me there is an underground fighting club." The corners of his mouth rose into a devious smile. As he turned to meet her gaze, Bella felt a sudden chill roll over her body. "I would like to watch this event. May I ask how to get down there?"

’Look at you. Having fun at a time like this.’

The thoughts kept repeating themselves in his head, but Dante didn’t hear any of them, and the wild grin on his face showed as much. Wind blasted his face as he evaded another swing, and his left arm shot up right after, parrying another attack.

His perception was still unenhanced, causing everything to appear as if it were sped up. His opponent seemed to finally get comfortable with the situation, and that led to his attacks becoming fiercer by the second, turning into a real threat Dante has to take seriously.

Just like him, the white haired hero used a fighting style that is a mix of various martial arts. His was more focused on offence, however, and going by the way he kept going for claw attacks, it was clear that he found a way to incorporate his powers into his fighting style. And that’s what made Dante his worst nightmare.

Dante’s fighting style looks plain at first and only shows its true potential while fighting against a skilled opponent. Ever since the fight started, Wolf failed to land a single attack. Everything he threw was dodged and evaded, but worse of all was the constant parrying.

Clenching his fist, Wolf went for a punch instead of his usual claw attacks. Dante struck it with the back of his hand and slid his right foot forward, going for a shoulder slam. His opponent took the hit head on, bracing his stomach and chest muscles for the impact. As he pushed him back, Dante followed with an elbow thrust but got blocked.

Wolf gritted his teeth and jumped back. Dante followed, not wanting to give him the chance to gain distance. Still in midair, the hero twisted his body and threw a kick only for it to get parried as well. His movements were supposed to be much faster, and yet he was the one failing to keep up.

As he closed the distance once more, aiming for another counter, the hero’s figure suddenly turned blurry in Dante’s eyes. Before the thought even occurred to him, his arms snapped into place, blocking an attack directed straight at his face. The force of the strike sent him flying, and his back hit the cage.

The spectators held their breaths, and the underground level went silent. Landing on his feet, he remained still for a couple of seconds before letting out a faint chuckle.

"Man, do you mind not going for the face?"

Lowering his arms, Dante checked the area that took the brunt of the attack. The scratch marks weren’t that deep, but they proved that the Werewolf’s claws were capable of damaging 4-3’s Module, and that the hero was starting to get serious.

On the other side of the arena, the white haired hero was undergoing some change. His muscles suddenly grew to three times their size, and fur quickly covered his skin, replacing his disappearing clothes. His mouth elongated, turning into a beast’s maw. The handsome man was gone, and in his place, a monster from fairy tales appeared.

Raising his head, he let out a blood curdling howl. The silence that followed it persisted for a second, then the crowd exploded with cheers once more.
