Chapter 1051 - 60: Saw His Face
Ye Cheng raised his other hand to rub his eyes, trying to wake himself up from sleepiness.Zimei turned her head towards the direction of his voice, "How long did I sleep?"
Her voice was somewhat weak and hoarse.
Ye Cheng glanced down at his watch. Since he was using only one eye to look at the hands, it took him a few more seconds than usual to read the time: "It’s now 7:20 p.m."
Zimei responded softly.
She felt some pain in her left eye, and her face was still very pale.
"You haven’t eaten all day, I’ll get you some soup." Ye Cheng said, standing up to fetch the thermal container.
The thermal container held the soup and porridge that Lu Shanhu’s private chef specifically prepared for Zimei, all with a light flavor.
Ye Cheng fed her some, but Zimei was used to strong flavors, and with only a bit of salt in the soup, she didn’t have much appetite.
After a few bites, she didn’t want to eat anymore.
"A Cheng, have you eaten?" she asked.
"Don’t worry about me, how are you feeling? If you’re uncomfortable, just sleep a bit more."
Zimei nodded slowly; she indeed hadn’t quite recovered, soon falling asleep again.
A week later.
The bandage on Ye Cheng’s left eye was removed.
After showering, as he passed by the mirror, he casually glanced at his reflection.
His eyes were exceptionally beautiful.
The narrow phoenix eyes possessed an inherent allure, the pupils deep and dark like an abyss, glittering under the warm light, giving a somewhat bewitching feeling.
In the mirror, one of his eyes was full of vitality, the pupil as black as obsidian, making it look like a star in the sky against his fair skin; while the other, lacking focus, appeared dull and lifeless.
If you didn’t look carefully, such a change was actually hard to notice.
Ye Cheng looked at himself calmly. When he decided to donate his cornea to Zimei, he was ready to accept everything.
From now on, he would pretend he had normal vision, making sure no one noticed the issue with his eyes, especially Zimei.
Though it would be quite arduous.
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
Today is the day when Zimei’s bandages were removed.
Professor Berlant and the nurse came to the bedside, and the nurse carefully helped remove Zimei’s bandages.
"Don’t rush, wait until you adjust to the light before opening your eyes," Professor Berlant advised.
When the layer over her eyes was removed, Zimei’s long lashes fluttered with discomfort. She nervously clenched her fists and then attempted to lift her eyelids.
Her left eye still hurt a bit; she opened it a little and then closed it again.
After a pause, she took a deep breath and tried once more.
At first, it was a very narrow slit of light, but it was not the color of darkness, it was white light, an exceptionally bright white light.
Zimei’s heart surged with excitement. When the full, bright light entered her left eye, tears sprung up due to the stimulating brightness.
The intense light made it hard for Zimei to adjust for a moment; she only managed to open them for an instant before quickly closing them again.
After a few seconds, she opened her eyes again.
This time, besides the white light, she also saw a few figures, which gradually became clearer from the initial blur. She saw Professor Berlant in his white coat; he had a ring of stubble and a friendly, gentle European face. The nurse beside him was very fair and looked at her with a smile.
And then...
A face of excessive handsomeness.
Features clear and profound, with snowy white skin, not sickly pale but flawlessly jade-like.
Ye Cheng’s handsome face was just as it was in her memory, the slender phoenix eyes containing endless gentleness, quietly watching her.
