Chapter 373: Home Sweet Home

The journey back home seemed much faster than it was when they traveled to Bian Jing.

Lin Xuan Qi got to enjoy the scenery along the way with the season going into mid-autumn.

Everywhere along the official road, there were leaves on the ground and they danced in the air whenever a horse or horse carriage passed by.

It was a great time for him to sit back and not think about anything else.

Yue Xin took care of him with Liu Shi Shi helping by the side.

They pretended that they weren’t too bothered with his announcement of their wedding when they got back and tried to be as normal as possible.

Sima Long on the other hand, got increasingly anxious to get back when they were closer to Hong Feng City.

Contrary to what he portrayed himself to be, like a suave and charming young master, he was missing his wife and unborn child tremendously.

And he was close to tears when he saw the familiar road and walls of Hong Feng City in the distance.

It didn’t take too long and they finally got back to the city.

When the horse carriages got to a three-way street, Sima Long’s horse carriage stopped in front of Lin Xuan Qi’s.

Sima Long popped half his body out of his horse carriage and waved at Lin Xuan Qi’s.

Lin Xuan Qi frowned and got his head out of the window.

"Brother Xuan Qi, I shall bid my farewell here with you.

"I can’t wait to see Zhang Jie and my child.

"Do remember to send me the wedding invitation!" Sima Long shouted at him and Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head.

The coachman of Sima Long’s horse carriage cracked his whip and the horse carriage turned away to the opposite direction from Lin Xuan Qi’s.

And soon, there was only the lone horse carriage of Lin Xuan Qi on the street.

"Finally, I wouldn’t have so many things to handle by myself." Yue Xin stretched out her hands and gave out a sigh of relief.

Lin Xuan Qi snorted and shook his head at her.

But he didn’t say anything else as she had done remarkably well for the trip.

There weren’t any mishaps and things went smoothly so he didn’t have many complaints.

The crack of the whip sounded in the air and the horse carriage stopped.

When the door of the horse carriage was opened, Lin Xuan Qi was glad to see the familiar wooden gates of the Lin Mansion.

"Welcome home, Master Lin." The guards who were at the gates greeted him when he alighted from the horse carriage.

Yue Xin got down from the horse carriage anxiously right after him.

In comparison, Liu Shi Shi took her time and got out of the horse carriage gracefully.

Servants who were nearby quickly ran into the mansion shouting for Xue Cong and Yue Jie when they saw their master arriving back at the mansion.

It didn’t take them too long to appear at the gates.

"Sister Yue Jie!" Yue Xin couldn’t help herself when she saw her sister and she ran over to where Yue Jie was.

Yue Jie frowned at Yue Xin’s behavior but only shook her head at her.

"How was the trip?" Yue Jie asked while inspecting Yue Xin from head to toe, making sure that she was alright.

Yue Xin gave out a sigh and shrugged her shoulders, "It was tiring but fun."

"Fun? Hope you’ve taken good care of Xuan Qi." Yue Jie said.

"Don’t worry. I did everything I could." Yue Xin said and lifted her head.

Yue Jie wasn’t too sure if she was telling the truth and she glanced over at Lin Xuan Qi.

Lin Xuan Qi gave her a smile and nodded his head.

"How was the trip?" Xue Cong came up to him and asked while she checked on him, to see if he had lost any weight.

He gave her a smile and said, "Everything went according to my plan as usual."

"That’s great. Let’s not stand out here and get into the main hall first." Xue Cong said and the others nodded their heads.

Lin Xuan Qi glanced over at Yue Xin and said, "Unload the gifts we’ve gotten from Bian Jing."

Yue Xin nodded her head and she unloaded the gifts for everyone from the horse carriage.

After that, they walked towards the main hall.

"Master Lin, welcome back."

"Master Lin."

"It’s great to see you again, Master Lin."

Along the way, the servants greeted him with a smile when they saw Lin Xuan Qi.

Lin Xuan Qi was glad to see that everything was in order in the mansion.

Things were clean and tidy, with all the servants being busy with their work.

When he got into the main hall and sat on his favorite seat, warm tea was served and waiting for him.

"It feels great to be back." He picked up the teacup, took a whiff of the tea and had a sip of it.

The tea tasted the same as he remembered it to be.

Lin Xuan Qi put down the teacup and he glanced at Xue Cong.

Thankfully, Xue Cong was looking great with her skin giving out a healthy glow.

It was the same for Yue Jie and he figured that they hadn’t slacked on their cultivation when he was away.

Xue Cong thought that he was thinking about something else and blushed.

She could understand his plight with him being away from herself and Yue Jie for so long, and he might have been starved of it.

It made her a little glad as that meant that he hadn’t done it with anyone else.

Yue Jie too was thinking the same thing when she saw his gaze on her.

However, Lin Xuan Qi frowned when he saw them blush and asked, "Wait a minute... What are both of you thinking about?"

"Us? Nothing..." They said and shook their heads.

But he gave them a smirk and said, "I guess I can have a few good nights of sleep then?"

They couldn’t agree to it and shook their heads vigorously.

"Sister Xue Cong and Yue Jie, here are some of the gifts for you."

Thankfully, Yue Xin came to their rescue with the jewelry from Huo Qi Nian.
