Chapter 203: Eliam Is Not Elijah’s Son

Chapter 203: Eliam Is Not Elijah’s Son

Evander’s POV

Caspian’s eyes were red and full of tears. He looked terrified, thinking he was about to lose me.

I sat down right across from him.

"I apologise for reacting the way I did earlier," I said in a low voice. "I’m sorry that you have to go through all this because of me. If... If you’d just told me, I would have thrown Elijah out of the Kensington family for you."

I meant every word. Elijah was my brother, but Caspian was family, too. Seeing him suffer in silence for so long made me wish I could change the past.

Caspian smiled at my words and hugged me.

"You don’t need to apologise, Evan. I might have resented you a little if it weren’t for you two," he glanced at Damian briefly. "I wouldn’t have been able to cope and live up until now."

He hugged me tight, as everything seemed to have melted away.

"Damn, you rascals!" Damian cursed under his breath and hugged them both. "Why are you both being melodramatic while leaving me out of the drama?" He complained but still smiled like a silly.

His sudden grip nearly knocked us off balance, but neither of us pulled away. We just sat there.

When we finally pulled apart, Caspian wiped his face, his eyes still glistening with tears. The fear of being hated was gone from his expression.

I looked at him, bracing myself for what was next.

"Alright," I said, looking directly at Caspian as Damian sat down beside him. "You said there was more. Tell us everything we missed."

Caspian became silent. He rubbed his hands together before looking up at us.

"I... I am happy that you guys have forgiven me, but what I’m about to tell you guys might force you to beat me to pulp and even break ties with me," his voice faltered at last. "I don’t wish to lose you guys, but... Can you please hear me out and the reason behind everything I did?"

He looked absolutely terrified, his eyes darting between me and Claire.

The look of relief in his eyes was completely gone, replaced by a deep panic. Whatever he was holding back was clearly much bigger and dangerous than what he had already shared.

Damian’s smile faded, and he exchanged a serious look with me.

I looked at Caspian, feeling a knot form in my stomach. But I couldn’t let him back down now. We had already come this far, and there was no going back to the lies.

"Cas," I said gently, leaning forward so he could see I wasn’t going to run away. "We are not going to break ties with you. Just say it."

Damian nodded in agreement, placing a firm hand on Caspian’s arm. "Yeah, man. Stop torturing yourself and just spit it out. We are right here."

Caspian took a deep, shaky breath. He closed his eyes for a brief second, trying to gather his courage, before finally opening them to face us.

"Lexi... She was pregnant with her boyfriend’s child not Elijah’s he never touched her," Caspian finally said, looking at Claire, who was just there to give me strength but her face turned pale when she heard it.

"What... What do you mean?" Her body staggered to which Sissy helped her stand. She held her tightly, her own eyes wide with shock as she tried to process his words.

"If Eliam is not Elijah’s son, then... why does he look like him so much," I stammered.

A lot of thoughts swarmed in my mind.

If Eliam was not his son, then was he mine? Then? Why was Gloria told me that it was Elijah’s last memory on earth?

My heart began to race with mixed emotions, as I felt my whole world spun around me.

I looked at Caspian, begging him with my eyes to tell me this was some sick joke. Beside him, Damian looked completely frozen, his mouth slightly open as he stared at Caspian in absolute disbelief.

"Cas, think carefully about what you are saying," Damian whispered, his voice trembling. "This isn’t something you can just joke around."

But Caspian didn’t back down. He kept his eyes locked on mine, fresh tears brimming in his eyes.

My mind was a complete mess. Eliam had Elijah’s eyes, his smile, and his features. If he wasn’t Elijah’s, the only other explanation made my blood run entirely cold. I turned my head slowly toward Claire. She looked completely shattered, her hand clutching her stomach as Sissy gently guided her to a nearby chair.

"Evan..." Claire breathed out, her voice filled with a sudden, sharp panic.

I turned back to Caspian, my fists clenching so hard my knuckles turned white.

"Explain," I demanded, my voice barely a whisper but heavy with dread. "Tell me exactly whose child Eliam is."

"I wasn’t sure," Caspian wiped the corner of his eyes. "Up until now, I always thought that Elijah had cheated on me, I hated him for that, but... when Claire returned and I heard she had lost her child that night, I became suspicious."

He paused, taking a shaky breath before looking up at me.

"I started putting the pieces together when I realized Claire and Lexi were pregnant at the exact same time," Caspian said, his voice dropping to a whisper. He couldn’t even look me in the eye, staring down at his trembling hands instead. "Back then... I thought they did something behind my back. I thought he cheated on me. That’s why I started cutting myself off from everyone."

He finally looked up, his eyes wide and completely bloodshot.

"Eliam has Elijah’s eyes and his smile because they share the same blood, Evan. But it’s not because he’s Elijah’s son." Caspian swallowed hard, pointing a shaky finger toward me. "He looks like him... because he is yours."

The words hang in the air as silence stretched.

Damian stood up so fast his chair nearly flipped over. "Caspian, do you even know what you’re saying right now? You’re saying Gloria swapped the babies?"

Caspian nodded slowly, his knuckles turning white as he gripped his knees.

Caspian nodded slowly, his hands shaking as he gripped his knees.

"Gloria knew Elijah hadn’t forgotten about me, and she was losing her mind trying to get a Kensington heir through him," Caspian explained, his voice cracking. "When Lexi’s boyfriend got her pregnant, Gloria saw her chance. But everything went wrong that day."

He looked up, his face pale as he remembered the horror.

"Instead of you and Claire dying in that accident, it was Elijah and Lexi who lost their lives. Gloria panicked. Her plan was falling apart, so she changed it. While Claire was in labor, completely helpless, Gloria bribed the doctors. She made them tell you both that your twins didn’t make it."

Caspian looked over at Claire, his eyes full of pain.

"But they were alive. Gloria took your newborn son from the nursery and handed Eliam straight to you, pretending he was Elijah’s baby. But she didn’t care about the other twin. She left your little girl in an empty room to die because she didn’t need a daughter."

He wiped a tear from his cheek, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"But I was there, thinking she was Elijah’s only memory for me; although he cheated on me, I took the baby girl in and named her Lily."
