Chapter 187: Eliam is Our Son!

Chapter 187: Eliam is Our Son!

Author’s POV

"What is wrong with Evan!?" Caspian cursed under his breath, his voice laced with frustration as he looked at little Eliam, who was crying uncontrollably for his father.

For the past few months, it had become Eliam’s routine to stay with his father at night. But tonight, Evander wasn’t here, and Eliam’s cries echoed through the house, piercing Caspian’s heart. Even Little Lilly, whom Eliam always heard, was unable to soothe him.

Caspian pinched the bridge of his nose, his brows furrowed in worry. He couldn’t stand seeing Eliam in this situation. The little boy’s tears tugged at his heartstrings, and Caspian felt a surge of protectiveness. He had always held a special place in his heart for Eliam, and seeing him wail like this was unbearable.

Without wasting another moment, Caspian pulled out his phone and dialed Evander’s number. The call connected after a few rings, and Evander’s voice came through.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Evander sat beside Claire, gently checking on her to ensure she wasn’t in pain after their intimate moment. His attention was entirely focused on her, his voice soft yet firm as he spoke.

"Claire, don’t overthink things. I will take care of everything this time. No matter what happens, we won’t be separated again. Even if I have to tear the world apart, I won’t let anything come between us," Evander declared, his tone resolute and unwavering.

Claire gazed at him, her eyes filled with a mix of affection and something darker that never happened before. She reached out her hands, silently asking for his hug, and Evander immediately pulled her into his arms. She rested her head against his chest, a small smile playing on her lips.

Claire was content this time that nothing would stop her from having what she wanted. But what Evander didn’t realize was the depth of Claire’s intentions. If Evander was willing to destroy the world for her, Claire was equally prepared to burn anyone who dared to stand in their way.

In that moment, they seemed like a pair of psycho lovers, consumed by their passion and devotion to each other to the point where they could do anything for each other.

They were still in each other’s embrace when Evander’s cell phone rang, breaking such a warm moment they were building once again.

Initially, Evander didn’t want to receive the call, but when Claire insisted, he couldn’t say no to her, and he picked up the call.

"What... you," Evander said in an annoyed tone, and before he could continue, Caspian’s voice broke through the phone.

"Evander, you rascal, where are you? Eliam is crying his heart out for you! You need to come back now!"

Evander’s expression shifted slightly, a flicker of guilt crossing his face as he heard Eliam’s cries in the background. But before he could respond, Claire tightened her grip on him.

"Why? Why is Eliam crying?" Claire asked, her voice laced with worry. She sat up, her brows furrowed as she looked at Evander. "Is he okay? And why isn’t he here with you? I thought you were with him, just like the other times."

Evander glanced at her, his expression unreadable, and quickly muted the call. He leaned closer to Claire, his voice low and teasing. "If I had brought Eliam here with me, would you have let me touch you?"

Claire’s eyes widened in shock, and she smacked his arm lightly. "You brute! Eliam is our son! How can you talk about him like this?" she scolded, her voice rising in protest. She opened her mouth to continue her reprimand, but Caspian’s loud voice suddenly erupted from the phone, cutting her off.

"You bastard! You went there to meet Claire alone and left your son here!?" Caspian’s voice was sharp; his anger was visible even through the phone. His eyes burned with fury as he gripped the cell phone tightly, trying to keep his temper in check.

Claire’s expression softened, and she reached out, snatching the phone from Evander’s hand. "Let me talk to him," she said firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

On the other end, Caspian took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He didn’t want to say something so rude in front of Claire. He walked over to Eliam, who was still sniffling, and kneeled down beside him.

"Baby, your mommy is on the call. She wants to talk to you," Caspian said gently, his voice soothing as he handed the phone to Eliam.

Eliam’s tear-streaked face lit up slightly at the mention of his mother. "Mo... Mommy?" he stammered, his small hands clutching the phone tightly. "I want to talk to Mommy too," he said, his voice trembling but hopeful.

Claire’s heart melted at the sound of her son’s voice. "Baby! How are you? And why are you crying?" she asked, her tone soft and coaxing. She could hear Eliam’s sniffles, and it made her chest ache.

"I... I miss you, Mommy," Eliam said, his voice breaking as fresh tears welled up in his eyes. "And Daddy left me here. I wanted to be with him..." He stopped and then continued. "He promised to take me with him to see you again but he left alone!"

Claire’s gaze flickered to Evander, her eyes narrowing slightly in disapproval before she focused back on Eliam. "Oh, sweety, my love, don’t cry. Mommy and Daddy love you very much. Daddy just had something important to do, but he will be back soon, okay?"

Eliam nodded, even though Claire couldn’t see him. "Promise?" he asked, his voice small and uncertain.

"I promise," Claire said firmly. She felt bad that Eliam had to stay alone while she was indulged in something like that. "Now, be a brave little boy for me, alright? Caspian Uncle is there with you, and he will take good care of you until Daddy comes back."

Eliam wiped his tears with the back of his hand and nodded again. "Okay, Mommy. I will be brave."

Claire smiled softly, though her heart was heavy by missing him so damn much. "That’s my boy. I will see you soon, okay? I love you."

"I love you too, Mommy," Eliam replied, his voice a little steadier now.

As Claire ended the call, she turned to Evander, her expression a mix of frustration and concern. "You need to be more careful, Evander. Eliam is just a child. He doesn’t understand why you are not there for him. You can’t keep leaving him like this." Claire said as she continued.

"He was abandoned by everyone and was barely recovering with our company. If you keep doing this, he would feel the same again. At least inform him in person before coming here."

Evander sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know, Claire. I just... I needed to see you. I didn’t think it would upset him this much."

Claire’s gaze softened, and she reached out to touch his arm. "I understand, but Eliam comes first. He is our son, and he needs us both. We can’t let our own desires cloud that."

Evander nodded, though his mind was still conflicted. He loved Claire deeply, but he also couldn’t ignore the guilt gnawing at him for making Eliam cry like that.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Caspian took the phone from Eliam and ruffled his hair gently. "See? Your mommy loves you very much. And I am here with you too, aren’t I?"

Eliam managed a small smile, his tears finally drying. "Yeah... Thank you, Uncle Caspian."

Caspian smiled back, though his heart was heavy. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about Evander’s behavior. But for now, he focused on comforting Eliam and the little girl Lilly.

Somewhere in the luxurious seven-star hotel, the dim lighting reflected off the polished marble floors, casting long shadows of a man in the room.

"Boss," a man clad in a black suit, stepped forward, handing a sleek tablet to Arthur. His voice was calm but firm. "This is the woman Miss Diana is so hell-bent on ruining."

Arthur barely glanced at him, his fingers drumming lightly on the glass table beside him. "And why exactly do I need to know that?" His cold gaze flickered to his assistant as irritation was clear in his tone.

"You need to know," the assistant pressed with an unwavering expression. "Not only is she the woman Diana wants to destroy, but she is also her stepsister and, most importantly..." He hesitated slightly before delivering the final blow. "She is the woman Evander is deeply in love with."

Arthur’s fingers stilled. His sharp eyes snapped toward the assistant as if trying to confirm he had heard correctly. "What did you just say?" His voice dropped a bit and was laced with something unreadable shock and curiosity.

The assistant remained silent, watching as Arthur finally took the tablet and glanced at the screen. The moment his gaze landed on the woman’s profile, his brows furrowed. A strange feeling settled in his chest, a sense of familiarity clawing at the edges of his mind.

"Why do I feel like I have seen her somewhere before?" Arthur muttered, his grip tightening around the device.

His assistant said nothing, but the knowing look in his eyes suggested that Arthur’s past and present were about to collide in ways he never anticipated.

At first, he didn’t want to show the picture of Claire to Authur, but he needed to make sure that Authur should make his own decision after looking at the images of Claire.

Who do you think this Arthur guy is and what kind of relationship does he have with Claire?
