Chapter 265: Hopeless Situation
Chapter 265: Hopeless Situation
CLASH~! CLING~!
Maces hammered against the shields of players. Swords swooshed through the air, and blood got spilled.
Goblins died. But that didn’t matter. They used their overwhelming advantage of numbers to push the players back.
"Tanks, do not fucking back off! Use your shields, and stop them from advancing!"
A Warrior player roared angrily.
"We’re trying, fuck!"
A Tank shouted back furiously, and he tried keeping his ground, but he was suffering from constant attacks.
Slowly, he couldn’t help but retreat backwards step by step.
"We do not have any other choice but to start attacking as well. If we keep defending, our equipment will slowly deteriorate and get destroyed.
"Offense is the best defense, so let’s do it, guys!"
Warrior screamed, and he took the lead and sprinted past the Tanks with his longsword in hand.
He came face-to-face with the blue-eyed goblins, and they roared, but the Warrior immediately silenced those roars.
His sword cut through the heads of the roaring goblins, and the blue blood splattered across the faces of other goblins.
"Attack! We are players! We aren’t afraid of some filthy fucking goblins!"
Warrior screamed.
"HALLELUJAH!"
Tanks pulled out their massive swords and pushed the goblins back with the shields and then smashed their swords through them.
In that moment, one of the goblins attacked from below and stabbed its sharp-looking dagger through one of the Tank’s legs.
"Argh, damn it!"
Tank roared and then pushed his sword through the goblin’s eye and finished him off, but immediately after, he started losing feeling in his leg.
[You have been poisoned!]
"Urgh... Damn it..."
Tank’s eyes started turning black, and green veins popped up from beneath his flesh, and he turned to the Helpers.
With a pathetic whisper, he said, "Help..." but it was so loud on the battlefield that no one could hear him—not even Helpers.
Then, he collapsed to his knees, and eventually he stopped moving altogether.
"Oh god... Makar is dead!"
One of the Tanks shouted, and after seeing one of his friends dead, a feeling of fear crept into his heart like a parasite.
He didn’t want to share the same fate as his friend!
He slowly backed away, but out of nowhere, a sharp object penetrated through his back—it was a strange feeling.
This was the first time that he had ever been stabbed, and while there wasn’t any pain, he could feel the sharp object very clearly.
With shaky eyes, he turned to see a grinning Ice Goblin twisting the dagger in his back, and the poison quickly spread to every corner of his body.
"You... bastard..."
Tank whispered, and then he collapsed to the ground and got stomped to death by over a dozen Ice Goblins.
"We are losing players!"
One of the Warriors shouted, and he then noticed that they were completely surrounded by the Ice Goblins.
There were simply too many of them!
They couldn’t avoid attacks from every angle, and slowly, but surely, the Ice Goblins’ attacks made their way through their defenses.
Soon, every player was at least slightly injured. Some had just minor cuts, but some were already losing a lot of blood.
"WE NEED HELP!"
"Everyone needs help, but no one is capable of helping!"
The players screamed.
Ice Goblins grinned. They advanced and advanced. The players grouped up, but they were shortly being overwhelmed.
"Ahhh~!"
One of the Helpers screamed as the Ice Goblin ripped apart her robe, exposing some of her pale skin, and then the Ice Goblin thrust its dagger into her back.
"Ahhhh!"
It didn’t hurt, but she had never been so afraid in her life before, and then the Ice Goblin put the dagger to her throat.
"Guruk!"
Ice Goblin said with a smirk, as if it were saying, "Goodbye," and it was about to cut off the Helper’s throat.
But then... in that moment.
A beam of concentrated fire bore through the Ice Goblin’s forehead. It left behind a burning hole. Ice Goblin collapsed to its back.
"Flame Breath Blast!"
A breath of flame scorched through the Ice Goblins, burning through them like a wildfire, and they screeched in pain before eventually dying.
"Fireball!"
"Ice Arrow Fall!"
"Swamp Ground Exodus!"
Magic spells came out of nowhere. It instantly shifted the tides of the battle. Ice Goblins suffered immensely.
Fireballs created explosions that killed several Ice Goblins. Ice Arrow Fall injured hundreds of them. Swamp Ground Exodus made the Ice Goblins fall into quicksand-like pits.
"Huff... huff... huff..."
The exhausted players looked over, and after seeing the Mages coming to help, they let out sighs of relief.
Then, in that moment.
Fang Raon suddenly landed right in the middle of the Ice Goblins. It seemed crazy. He was right in the middle of them all!
"Watch out!"
The players screamed.
Ice Goblins turned to him with anger in their eyes, and they didn’t waste a single breath and immediately launched their attacks.
But in that moment.
Fang Raon smiled, and his eyes started smoking, and as soon as he started spinning, fire started spewing out of his eyes.
"HEAT GAZE!"
The fire slashed through the Ice Goblins like swords of fire, and they were cut into tiny burning pieces.
As Fang Raon stopped spinning, the Ice Goblins all around him got cut into several pieces, as if they had been cut by lightsabers.
"What the hell was that?!"
"Wow..."
The players were shocked as they had never seen something like this, and they stared at Fang Raon with brand-new appreciation.
"...He is strong..."
"...How is someone that strong in these lower levels? He killed all those Ice Goblins like it was nothing!"
"...Since he is here, it means that he has already gotten rid of those Wizards? What in the heck, man!"
Ice Goblins took a step back. They started to feel fear now.
Fire was their natural enemy, and they just witnessed one of the players shooting fire from his eyes!
Of course they would be afraid!
"They’re afraid. Let’s start our counterattack. We got this!"
A player shouted, and everyone else was also encouraged as a ray of hope appeared in their hearts.
They can do this!
"ROAR!"
However, as if some god were mocking them, they suddenly heard a roar that shook the very foundation of the cave.
It was a loud roar. Pure evil. And very strong.
’...What was that?’
Fang Raon frowned.
Ice Goblins, once they heard the roar, raised their weapons high, and it almost sounded like they started celebrating.
THUMP~! THUMP~!
The ground shook. Loud footsteps echoed a distance away. It sounded like a giant was walking somewhere close.
And then...
From one of the village huts, a figure stepped out. A gigantic figure. Blue skin, long white tusks, long black hair.
It was an Ice Giant.
It was as tall as the buildings around it, so it was quite surprising that it was able to fit inside one of the huts.
’There was Ice Giant here all along?!’
Fang Raon’s eyes turned dark.
"There shouldn’t be any Ice Giants on the 2nd floor. They’re high-level enemies. Shouldn’t they only appear above the 40th floor?"
The girl who knew history screamed.
"...You said that monstrous beasts roamed the 2nd floor a few hundred years ago. It means that some of them might’ve survived."
Fang Raon said with a dark expression.
If all the locals survived, it meant that some of the monstrous beasts could’ve as well, such as this Ice Giant.
[Ice Giant - HP: 100%]
Words appeared above the Ice Giant’s massive head, but that didn’t mean anything, as this wasn’t a fight anymore.
It was only a battle for survival!
They couldn’t possibly defeat a creature of this magnitude!
THUMP~! THUMP~!
Ice Giant stomped over. With just a couple large steps, it reached the battlefield, and it just stomped over the Ice Goblins, crushing them under its feet.
It did not care whether it killed Ice Goblins or players. It just wanted to kill.
"W-We need to run... Now!"
The players screamed and started running for the exits, but the Ice Goblins didn’t let them, and they blocked the exits.
They smiled, as if they were taunting the players, with "You’re going to die" smiles and dances.
’This can’t be. Is the second floor really meant to be destroyed like this? Adding Ice Giant is just bullying at this point.’
Fang Raon frowned.
He couldn’t understand why this was happening, as there must be a reason the game developers did this.
Why did they want the second floor to be destroyed? It would ruin the game experience for all the newer players.
Did they want to make the game harder? It was already extremely difficult. Nobody was even close to reaching the 100th floor yet.
And making the Newbie Floors even harder would make the game literally impossible, especially since the game cards were expensive.
’Do they just want to sell more game cards, which is why they want newer players to die more often? They would get a lot of backlash if that’s the case.
’Black Online’s creators never seemed as greedy. The game itself was free, and one only had to purchase the Virtual Reality Pod to play, and they also got a free game card as a result.
’So is that really the case? I just don’t get it!’
