Chapter 399 - 349: I’m Not Acclimated to the Environment, But I Submit to You! (Three Updates)

Tong Airui said in a deep voice, "Uncle Jack is worried about Aunt Ni Lu, afraid of worsening her illness.""That’s indeed a concern." Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "Let’s wait until Uncle arrives and respect his decision."

"Alright. Darling, I still have things to do here, I’ll hang up now."

"Bye-bye." Tong Airui sounded a bit hurried. Yi Luowa didn’t delay and quickly hung up the phone.

Kou’er tilted her head and stared fixedly at her.

Yi Luowa glanced at her, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Luowa-sis, I might be out of place here, but I admire you!" Kou’er giggled, "Do you ever have a moment of worry?"

"Who says I don’t worry? I’m worrying myself sick right now—Uncle knows the child is his yet can’t acknowledge it; how must that feel? And Aunt Ni Lu—when will she recover from this illness?"

"The things you worry about are all other people’s problems. Your own—I just don’t see you fret over them."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips, "Everyone in my family treats me so well; I don’t have much to worry about."

Kou’er tucked her lips together, "Luowa-sis, do you truly not want to find your biological parents?"

Yi Luowa smiled, "It’s not that I don’t want to, but it has to happen naturally. Kou’er, have you thought about finding your parents?"

Kou’er’s eyes dimmed, "Luowa-sis, Yuan Hang and I are different from you—our parents died in battle; we’re real orphans. We’ve long given up on that idea."

Yi Luowa hugged Kou’er’s shoulders and patted her gently, "Let’s not talk about unpleasant things like this. Hey, how are things going between you and Yuan Hang?"

Kou’er curled her lips, "At the social gathering, he said he’d marry me when I grow up. But since then, he’s acted as if nothing happened. Besides nodding, he hasn’t said a word to me. Judging by his expression, it’s not that he doesn’t want to talk—he’s just been too busy lately with no time to spare."

Yi Luowa chuckled, "Looks like you’re pretty understanding. You really can’t blame Yuan Hang for this—he’s been quite tied up lately. Alright, I’ll let Tong Airui give him a few days off and have Yuan Hang take you out for some fun."

"Please don’t! You’re leaving school in a few days. At this crucial moment, I need to protect you. Wait until you go to Sacred Eagle, then it’ll be better!" Kou’er said, sneaking a delighted smile. Once Luowa-sis goes to Sacred Eagle, she’d get to follow and see Tong Yuanhang every day.

Yi Luowa eyed her and smiled, pursing her lips, "Looks like I’m the one delaying your romance!"

"I never said that!" Kou’er rolled her eyes at her, "Hurry back to the classroom. Class is about to start; once school’s done, you’ll have a big battle waiting at home. I feel bad for you for three seconds."

"Just don’t hold a three-second silence for me." Yi Luowa chuckled.

"Don’t talk nonsense!" Kou’er covered Yi Luowa’s mouth with her hand and dragged her into the classroom.

As soon as classes finished in the afternoon, Yi Luowa returned home early.

Ni Lu lit up with a smile as she saw her return, "Luowa, you’re finally back!"

"Mom, did you miss me?" Yi Luowa asked, sitting down next to Ni Lu with a smile.

"I’ve been missing you all day!" Ni Lu lovingly took her hand, "Your dad’s coming over today."

Yi Luowa feigned surprise, "Isn’t Dad busy? Why’s he coming over all of a sudden?"

"He’s finished his work and said he wanted to see you." Ni Lu smiled, her lips curving.

Tong Yao teased, "If you ask me, Jack misses you, not our Luowa!"

Ni Lu rolled her eyes, "What’s with you as a teacher, joking with your own student!"

"Haha... If I don’t tease you lot, who else!" Tong Yao laughed, glancing at the time, "The plane won’t land for another half hour."

Yi Luowa turned to Tong Yao, "Mom, how about I go pick up Dad?"

"Ni’er, You Jia, and Monica already went. You don’t need to go..."

"Auntieee~" Tong Yao’s words hadn’t finished when Duoduo’s voice called out loudly from upstairs.

Jack glanced at him and dashed downstairs, hurling himself into Yi Luowa’s arms.

Duoduo wiggled in Raindrop’s arms, "Down, down, need Auntie!"

Raindrop chuckled helplessly and carried Duoduo downstairs.

Yi Luowa now held one child on each leg, embracing both Jack and Duoduo.

Ni Lu laughed and tousled Duoduo’s hair, "You! You cling to your aunt even more than your great-aunt!"

"Mine!" Duoduo protested, scrunching his nose at Ni Lu.

"Mine!" Jack snugged tightly to Yi Luowa.

Duoduo blinked his violet eyes and mimicked his brother, gripping tightly onto Auntie as well.

"Where are Da Bao and Er Bao?" Yi Luowa smiled, patting their heads.

"Playing with Auntie Youyou," Jack pouted and looked at Yi Luowa, "Auntie Youyou is so childish!"

"Jack!" Raindrop interrupted him disapprovingly.

Jack burrowed deeper into Yi Luowa’s embrace.

Ni Lu cast a displeased glance at Raindrop, "Why are you so strict with kids? And besides, are they wrong? That Youyou is as old as Luowa, yet look at the things she plays with..."

Ni Lu shook her head with exasperation.

"What is Youyou playing with?" Yi Luowa asked curiously.

Raindrop’s mouth twitched slightly, "In the morning, she was making mud castles with the three kids; in the afternoon, she’s been playing backyard gunfights with Da Bao and Er Bao. She’s nuts, and No. 8 joins her in the crazy fun. My mom got so annoyed watching them she hid in her room all day."

Yi Luowa laughed, "Haha... sounds like so much fun! If I were home, I’d totally join in."

Ni Lu gave her a sharp look, "You’re absolutely forbidden from playing with things like that!"

"Mom~" Yi Luowa giggled, "Don’t tell me you got annoyed watching too? Why don’t you join Auntie in hiding in the bedroom then?"

Ni Lu burst into laughter, "You wicked girl, always making fun of me! Youyou isn’t my daughter-in-law or my daughter; why should I get annoyed watching her!"

Yi Luowa froze momentarily, thinking: Auntie, Youyou *is* your daughter! Guess Auntie Ni Lu doesn’t care much for her biological daughter. This will require some maneuvering...

Tong Yao patted her hand, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Tong Yao smiled and said, "Da Bao and Er Bao have already missed two days of schoolwork. Your big brother and sister-in-law are coming today to take them back; they can return here during the holidays."

Figuring Tong Yao was trying to shift the subject, Yi Luowa quickly followed along, "Yeah, the holidays are coming up soon. When they start, I’ll head over to bring them back."

"Mom, we’re only staying here for a few more days too," Raindrop muttered.

Tong Yao’s brow furrowed a bit, "Your mom hasn’t been in a good mood lately—you should spend more time with her. Jack doesn’t start school till September, does he? Going back now to dive into demanding coursework—it’s better for him to play here."

"Mama, I want to stay at Grandma’s! I want to play with Auntie!" Jack looked up with a pitiful expression at Raindrop.

"Go away; I’m playing!" Duoduo tried to push his older brother.

Jack furrowed his small brows, "Don’t think just because you’re young, I’ll hold back from hitting you!"

Though he said this, Jack made no move to act.

Duoduo, however, flailed his tiny fists relentlessly, "Hit, hit, hit!"

Yi Luowa hurriedly grabbed his little hands, "Duoduo, be good—don’t hit your brother."

Duoduo pouted, burying his head deep in Yi Luowa’s arms.

Tong Yao laughed and gave his tiny bottom a playful smack before turning to Raindrop, "Go call Xuanxuan and the others in; Uncle Jack will be here soon."

Raindrop nodded and dashed out.

Thirty minutes later, Jack arrived at Duke’s estate.

Yi Luowa promptly led Youyou out to greet him.

As the car was still moving, Jack spotted Youyou standing by Yi Luowa, and his eyes reddened. With a trembling voice, he muttered, "She’s identical! Absolutely identical!"

You Jia gripped Jack’s hand, "Uncle, have you seen pictures of Auntie before her surgeries?"

Jack nodded, "I’ve seen some of her pre-surgery photos—she and Youyou are truly identical!"

Monica glanced back at Jack, "Uncle, if you’re not ready to acknowledge Youyou yet, you need to keep calm and make sure Auntie doesn’t notice anything."

Tears welled in Jack’s eyes. He closed them tightly, as a single tear slipped down his cheek.

You Jia could clearly feel his uncle’s hand trembling.

Ai Ni handed a tissue to You Jia, signaling him to wipe Jack’s tears.

Just as You Jia’s hand neared Jack’s face, Jack opened his eyes. Resolute despite the pain, he made his decision before the car stopped. "I’ll acknowledge her once Ni Lu recovers."

You Jia wiped away Jack’s tears and said, "Uncle, you’ll make the call on this. Youyou won’t face any hardship here—everyone will help take good care of her."

Jack nodded. Seeing Yi Luowa pull Youyou along towards him, a smile broke across his face. He murmured softly to You Jia, "To have two wonderful daughters like this, my life wasn’t lived in vain!"
