Chapter 398 - 348 Ghosts Also Fear the Wicked (Second Update)

Tong Airui saw You shaking her head and finally pushed Mi Chenxuan and You into the bedroom together.Mi Chenxuan had just steadied himself and turned to look at You, "Does it hurt a lot? Let me take a look."

You pouted and whispered, "Do you think the two of us together could beat Tong Airui?"

"Even ten of me and ten of you might not be able to take him down," Mi Chenxuan glanced at the marks on You’s neck and said, feeling distressed, "From now on, don’t mess around again, or you’ll suffer for it."

You immediately wilted. Truth be told, she had only ever been afraid of two people in her entire life: one was her master, and the other was Tong Airui. Tong Airui’s stare earlier had been terrifying.

"I’m talking to you!" Mi Chenxuan, displeased, tapped her on the shoulder.

You looked at Mi Chenxuan, feeling wronged, "I get it. Where did you go? I couldn’t find you anywhere."

"I went out for morning exercise. Next time, no matter if you can wake up or not, I’ll wake you. From now on, I’ll take you step by step wherever I go." Mi Chenxuan dug through a drawer and found a box of ointment, applying it to You’s neck. "Never cross my fourth brother again, understand?"

You nodded. "Until I can beat him, I won’t fight him."

"In that case, maybe in your next life!" Mi Chenxuan rolled his eyes at her, annoyed, and stomped into the bathroom.

You, seeing his anger, quickly followed him, "I don’t want you to be mad at me!"

"If you don’t want me mad, then learn to behave. Get rid of all your bad habits!"

You pouted, nodding obediently.

Tong Airui finished dealing with You and stormed downstairs, still fuming.

Yi Luowa and Connie were standing outside Mi Chenxuan’s bedroom door, listening. Seeing that the room had calmed, they finally felt at ease and went into Joyina’s room.

Joyina was humming a tune while packing her clothes. Upon seeing them enter, she grinned and said, "Sister Luowa, Sister Connie, I’m moving in with my idol and staying at their place."

"Are you sure you’ll be comfortable there?" Yi Luowa expressed her concern.

"No problem! As long as I can be near Mi Chenshuo, I’d even be happy sleeping in a stable."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips, "Joyina, with the whole family gathered like this, do you think my third brother genuinely wants to take you back to the Viscount’s mansion to live?"

Joyina’s hands paused slightly, "Sister Luowa, I understand now. I’ll go find Mi Chenshuo and tell him we aren’t leaving. I promise I’ll never argue with You again."

Joyina rushed out urgently, and Connie chuckled, "Talking to someone clever is really effortless."

"Well... It’s not that You isn’t clever. She’s just lived such an isolated life; there’s much she doesn’t understand. We’ll have to guide her little by little."

"We can teach You slowly, but shouldn’t you go down and coax my brother? From what I see, he’s really furious today."

Yi Luowa furrowed her brow briefly, "Can you blame him? So many things didn’t go as planned, he’s already frustrated. Plus, You was someone he took in, causing such trouble for everyone—he’s bound to feel uncomfortable inside. Though, he did go too far today."

Connie shook her head, "I don’t think my brother went too far. With someone like You, you need to make her fear someone. Otherwise, with her personality, she could tear this whole house apart."

Yi Luowa smiled helplessly, "True."

The two of them left the room one after the other and ran into Tong Aino, who had just stepped out of Mi Chenshuo’s room, in the hallway.

Connie whispered, "Is my third brother still insisting on leaving?"

"Joyina’s trying to persuade him; looks like he probably won’t leave. Don’t be fooled by her young age—Joyina is quite good at sweet-talking."

Connie glanced at him, amused.

Tong Aino asked suspiciously, "What kind of look is that?"

Connie snorted, "Judging by your envious expression, you’re probably wishing you had married someone who could talk sweetly and charm you."

Tong Aino laughed and gave her a thumbs-up, "You really get me, Connie!"

Connie slapped his hand away, "Hmph! Too late for regrets now. You’ll just have to make do."

"I’m not ’making do.’ Even though my wife is a bit stubborn, you’re still the perfect type for me." Tong Aino grinned cheekily and put his arm around Connie as they headed downstairs together.

Yi Luowa concealed a smile. How rare, Tong Aino suddenly becoming so eloquent. Women truly are like schools; men learn a lot from them.

But then there’s their family’s infamous hothead—she can’t quite figure him out. His temper has only gotten worse. He gets into fights at the drop of a hat, even with women.

Of course, Yi Luowa didn’t know that Tong Airui’s fiery temper closely resembled his father’s. It was just that he had never erupted in front of her.

That had been Tong Yao’s biggest worry before—she was scared Yi Luowa might suffer. But luckily, Tong Airui never threw a tantrum around Yi Luowa.

Yi Luowa went downstairs to find Little Raindrop and Ai Ni still standing by the door, chatting.

Yi Luowa smiled, "Not sleepy anymore?"

Little Raindrop sighed, "Not sleepy. I was just telling Ai Ni, those two troublemakers—no matter how much I tried to mediate, the more I talked, the fiercer they argued. The moment Airui went upstairs, they instantly quieted down."

"Even ghosts fear villains!" Yi Luowa laughed.

Tong Airui pushed the door open and shot her a sinister look, "What are you saying!"

"Haha... My sister-in-law says you’re the family firefighter," Ai Ni laughed and looked at Yi Luowa, "You should head back. Look at my fourth brother’s expression. He’s the firefighter, but you’re the chief—you’ll have to extinguish his flames."

Yi Luowa laughed helplessly and quickly retreated to her room.

Tong Airui, surprisingly, didn’t need much coaxing from Yi Luowa. Before long, his anger subsided.

It was after stepping into the room that Yi Luowa suddenly realized why her Mr. Tong had been so fiery this morning.

At breakfast, You didn’t dare come downstairs—she was too afraid to face Tong Airui.

Mi Chenxuan was particularly sly. Worried that You might stir up trouble again, he told her stories about Tong Airui—true or made-up, it didn’t matter. Whatever would frighten You, he spun those tales.

From that day forward, Tong Airui became a bloodthirsty demon in You’s eyes.

Before ending his stories, Mi Chenxuan added a final remark: "My fourth brother may be scary, but he’s nowhere near as terrifying as my uncle—he’s the most frightening person in this family."

You wasn’t stupid. Through Mi Chenxuan’s words, she deduced that there were two other individuals in the family even scarier: Tong Yao and Yi Luowa.

The two women were the wives of the two great demons. With just a few soft-spoken words from them, those two demons could end her life.

Once, she had not feared death. But ever since meeting Mi Chenxuan, she started fearing it. She didn’t want to die before living her life properly.

You toned down, and so did Joyina. The household returned to its usual harmony.

Before eight o’clock, Yuan Hang returned with the DNA results.

The father and son glanced at them briefly before tossing the reports to You Jia and Monica.

Long Che checked the time, "You two handle this; Rui’er and I have work to do."

You Jia examined the report, smiling happily, "Dad, you and my brother go work; I’ll call my uncle right away."

Long Che gave an approving nod and left with his son.

"Regarding Luowa, have you decided how you’ll explain this to her?" Long Che asked just before getting into the car.

"Luowa already anticipated this outcome. She’s more open-minded than I am," Tong Airui replied, helping his father close the car door. "But I won’t give up. If this path is blocked, I’ll forge another one. I’ll find her biological parents no matter what."

Long Che lowered the window and looked at his son, "Before your uncle arrives, let her know the results so she’s mentally prepared."

Tong Airui nodded, "I’ll find some time to talk to her."

During a break, Yi Luowa received a call from Tong Airui.

"Sweetheart, the results are in."

Tong Airui’s voice sounded low. Yi Luowa gripped the phone tighter, "What’s wrong? Don’t tell me You isn’t Aunt Ni Lu’s child?"

Tong Airui frowned slightly, "She is!"

Yi Luowa burst into laughter, "That’s wonderful! Aunt Ni Lu has finally found her daughter!"

"Sweetheart..."

"Darling, don’t try to console me. I’m not upset; I’m not even the least bit disappointed. I’m just thrilled for Aunt Ni Lu! She must be overjoyed. Is your uncle coming today? Does this mean he’ll acknowledge You formally?"

"Uncle will arrive before dinner. Whether or not he’ll recognize You is not for us to decide—it’s their family’s matter."

Yi Luowa smiled, "Having found their biological daughter, I’m sure they won’t reject her."

"From what You Jia told me, Uncle was ecstatic when he learned he’d found You. But as for formally acknowledging her right away, he seems hesitant."

"Why would he hesitate?" Yi Luowa asked, confused.
