Chapter 515: This Is a Treasure
Chapter 515: This Is a Treasure
"This is Teacher Zhao, the language teacher for the fourth grade."
"Hello, Teacher Zhao." Gong Ruini and Zhao Guangran greeted him. Don’t be fooled by Zhao Guangran’s usual toughness; his respect for teachers is something ingrained in his bones.
"This is Teacher Ding, the math teacher for the sixth grade."
"Hello, Teacher Ding." Zhao Xuran was quite displeased with Teacher Cao leaving abruptly earlier, but there was nothing he could say since today was the real reporting day, and teachers were expected to be busy.
Though he understood, dealing with it as is wasn’t in Zhao Xuran’s nature, especially seeing Guangran and others’ unhappy expressions.
"Principal, Teacher Zhao, Teacher Ding, I think since the test papers are ready, we should have a go at them." Not making it into the key class wasn’t a big deal, but they couldn’t let the new homeroom teachers view them unfavorably.
"Alright." Though Zhao Xuran and the others had been assigned classes, given that Teacher Wu previously disregarded him, Zhuge Ming didn’t mind Zhao Xuran stepping up to save face.
In truth, Teacher Zhao and Teacher Ding were also quite curious. They didn’t expect these kids to perform exceptionally well, just well enough not to drag the class down.
"We have no objections." After expressing their attitudes, the two teachers stood aside and watched Zhao Xuran and the group tackle the test papers.
After randomly drawing two sets of test papers, Zhao Xuran and his group took them seriously. The most anxious, Zhao Guangran, silently cheered himself on as he received his paper.
He had promised to surprise the teachers before gaining fame, a commitment he felt compelled to fulfill. Especially now, after giving the two teachers a jolt, Zhao Guangran was even more resolved not to let it slide, determined to make some people regret and slap themselves.
Zhao Xuran’s idea was good, but with his shaky foundation, he first skimmed the questions, which relieved him a bit. While his score wouldn’t surpass Gong Ruini’s nor leave people awestruck, at least he wouldn’t score poorly.
Gong Ruini habitually glanced over the test paper and had only one word for it: simple. In four words, it was simple to death.
Such a simple test wasn’t supposed to be a problem for Zhao Guangran, which eased Gong Ruini’s nerves. Determined to slap the two teachers hard in the face, Gong Ruini was all in.
Watching Gong Ruini and Zhao Guangran rapidly write with their pens, Teacher Zhao walked over uneasily, only to be pleasantly surprised.
Though they started with fill-in-the-blank and multiple-choice questions, there were no errors. The critical part was their impressive speed, suggesting that they weren’t just usually solid in knowledge grasp.
Teacher Ding also wore an expression of incredulous surprise. They had expected to settle with students who weren’t too bad in their studies, never imagining such pleasant surprises. If those two were to stay, they might not bear giving up such good prospects and might even get into a tug-of-war over them.
Luckily, luckily, they weren’t present; otherwise, retaining these few would be problematic.
Wait a minute, if Teacher Wu and Teacher Cao learned about these promising students, would they let it go? They’ve been trying every means to poach, much more amidst the concentrated presence of top students in key classes — only those without common sense would refuse.
Indeed, it was a dilemma, wishing for good but not outstanding scores.
Zhuge Ming didn’t harbor many thoughts. He critically observed the papers Gong Ruini and others were doing and highly praised their fine handwriting, as such neat writers had become rare.
Zhuge Ming, having not taught on the front lines for a long time, still understood the test’s content and initially assumed they were doing it casually.
Previously, according to Zhuge Zhi, these kids were self-studying at home, which Zhuge Ming disliked, prompting him to examine the questions closely. To his revelation, despite the fast pace, the solutions were correct.
Zhuge Zhi lingered a long while, arousing curiosity from Teacher Zhao and Teacher Ding. Were the kids not performing well on subsequent questions?
The duo stepped over to look and were even more astonished. Initially, the tasks were multiple-choice and simple calculation questions, insufficient to showcase a high level, but the latter ones were more complex math problems, yet not only had their speed not declined, but the answers were correct.
At this point, Teacher Zhao and Teacher Ding exchanged various glances, pondering whether the test paper had been leaked given their swift answers — but ultimately concluded it unlikely.
This set of questions had been leftover papers stored in the school’s file room, not used then, simply locked up and left until Teacher Wu recently retrieved them.
Seeing someone observing her while working made Gong Ruini uncomfortable, but she had to bear it. Besides, they had three teachers invigilating their exam, though fortunately two had left, sparing some plight.
Having not intended to hold back, and upon noticing the teacher watching, Gong Ruini decisively resolved not to restrain herself, briskly solving the questions.
It left Teacher Zhao stunned: how she tackled questions so quickly in a blink, astonished that her solutions were accurate.
The most shocking aspect for Teacher Zhao was that this girl hadn’t paused to think about the problems. She casually glanced over the questions and started solving, shockingly getting them all correct.
Are these kids from the Northeastern Rural region? Teacher Zhao was dumbfounded. Have rural kids suddenly become so intelligent?
"No wonder, their parents went to college," Zhuge Zhi remarked, understanding the disdain some teachers had toward Gong Ruini and others.
College? Couldn’t be their parents just got admitted recently? Many rushed to apply when college exams came back, yet only a few succeeded.
Unexpectedly, these kids’ parents made it in, explaining why their grades are so outstanding — a result of parental influence.
Teacher Zhao and Teacher Ding exchanged glances, resolving to win over these kids no matter what; opportunities to nurture such talents wouldn’t repeatedly come by.
Everyone present entertained aspirations of teaching in a key class. Others might have seized the first opportunity, but it didn’t mean they couldn’t vie for other positions, even if ousting Teacher Wu wasn’t feasible.
The two exchanged looks and decided to join forces, striving for their future promotions and raises.
