Awakening: I Ascend As A Legendary Ranked Necromancer

Chapter 118: Slow down!

Chapter 118: Slow down!

Lola laughed and swung casually as if she was swatting a fly. Temur hadn’t changed his weapon from a shield, and he took it head-on. He flinched and grunted as he was sent flying back, his hand flaring with pain and his back slamming into the wall.

But none of it stung like his pride. "Seems I have underestimated your strength."

But it wasn’t only her strength, because she was suddenly in front of him with her weapon drawn back. "Look at me!"

She brought it down, hammering like she was driving a stubborn nail. Bang! "Huh?" She frowned, clearly expecting the crushing sound of bones breaking, but instead it sounded like metal hitting metal.

Then suddenly, she jumped back. Confusion and surprise spread across her face as all attention locked onto her opponent. She wasn’t grinning anymore.

Because what she thought was a cub was a tiger. "What is that?" The aura pressure she felt, it was strong.

"I would love to play with you, but I don’t have time." Temur, Litha, and I might not look powerful, but that was simply because the opponents we’d been fighting were even more powerful at the top of the Iron rank.

But someone like this girl? Sure, she was powerful, but not on Temur’s level. His eyes shone bright red as his aura billowed around him. Dust from the earlier attack still hung in the air, making him look even more imposing.

Lola stepped back further, her cheek cold with sweat. "You are strong. Of course, my hand doesn’t want me to move because of that fact, but that just makes it even more worth it!"

She flew toward him, closing the distance with that massive hammer and bringing it down with all the strength in her body.

Temur raised his hand, his weapon shifting into a metal glove that covered it. He layered his aura over it. The hammer slammed down with a loud bang! The floor cracked around him, but he stood like a statue, hand still raised.

Lola’s face widened. She had at least expected his hand to break this wasn’t supposed to happen.

Temur slapped her hammer aside and looked at his hand, the black metal smoking. He clenched his fist as it throbbed. "You have a very powerful strength in that small body of yours. But try this!"

Lola knew he was coming, but he was too fast for her to react. All she saw was a flash of red and then something rammed into her stomach. Ribs snapped like cheap plastic. Her world flipped upside down, darkness clouded her eyes, and she fainted.

"Why don’t you kill her?" I asked as I watched Temur move her aside, out of the way. Her big hammer vanished when she passed out.

Temur straightened. "Because she’s an idiot, and she hasn’t been touched by the Tower’s corruption."

I found myself agreeing. Come to think of it, if it wasn’t for the Chaos Cult, we would probably be just as naïve or maybe a bit cautious after the previous test. Still, I knew we’d just be training and looking forward to the next test.

Then I frowned. "Untouched, but she’s working for Kaidos? I think she might just be as rotten."

Temur looked at her and shrugged.

We continued past the door and finally reached one of the workrooms of the Blood Necromancer, Kaelith.

"I knew you would be the one," Kaidos said casually from his seat. He was sitting on a metal chair, one of many not occupied by books or test glasses.

The workroom was large, dimly lit, with towering shelves holding glass jugs and pots filled with things I didn’t want to know about. Bodies and skeletons were shoved into the corners.

Behind Kaidos stood two others under his contract. But that wasn’t what caught our attention, it was the orb floating in the center of the room and the voice coming from it. "You guys are always late, no matter what!"

"Litha?" Temur and I asked, struggling to keep the hope out of our voices.

"Yes, it’s me," she said, and I could practically see her rolling her eyes. "What took you so long? I’m dying of boredom here."

Kaidos laughed. "I’ve never met more stupid people in my life. You walked voluntarily into a Necromancer’s domain? Aren’t you getting too bold?"

"Temur will be kept busy while we take care of you, Kaidos. I swear it, this will be your grave." Temur said it calmly, like he was commenting on cooking.

Kaidos glared and pointed at us. "Kill him."

The two under his command snapped to attention and rushed forward but they never got the chance to fight.

I raised my hand. "How about you slow down?"

The air around the two of them gained weight, and as a force slammed into them, they struggled. Their struggle didn’t last long, because a metal whip with a curved blade at its end came out of nowhere, and their heads hit the floor with a thud.

Temur changed his weapon from the metal whip, and it flowed around him, covering his body like cloth until full body armor formed. "Now then, it’s your turn."

Kaidos hissed. He hadn’t thought all his subordinates would be taken care of so easily. He knew how powerful they were, and from experience, he knew he couldn’t handle the two of them. I should stall until Kaelith gets here, he thought.

The air stirred, and Kaidos focused, too late. Temur was suddenly in front of him. He barely had time to react before a punch snapped his head back, sending him flying into a shelf with a clatter. Everything collapsed on top of him.

"You shouldn’t take your eyes off me," Temur said. "The last time we fought, we weren’t in the best condition, but now we will give you a run for your money. Use that blood technique of yours if you don’t want to die so early in the fight, that is."

"Hahahaha." Kaidos laughed from where he lay. "Do you think Kaelith will stand still while you trash his place? And now that you are here, do you think he’ll leave this place unguarded?"
