Chapter 381: There isn’t much time left, and you are a crucial part of the plan
Eight, or rather nine beings waged a colossal battle for the ownership of the tenth divine seat. The fight was so fierce that it shattered the heavens and shifted the continents.
After months of relentless combat, it ended with all nine severely injured.
In a moment of rare consensus, they decided to each form their own factions, choosing representatives to vie for the tenth divine seat, with the nine themselves forbidden to intervene.
However, weakened from their injuries, they couldn’t guarantee the loyalty of whoever would eventually claim the seat. There was a risk that this tenth individual could overthrow them all and become the sole ghost god.
To prevent this, they unanimously agreed to sign ghost slave contracts, turning all ghost souls into their slaves. Together, they sealed the passage to the ghost realm and divided the world into 32 vast Ghost Realms, establishing grand cities and starting wars among their ghost slaves.
...
A Hundred Years Later.
In the first Ghost Realm, within the main hall of the lord’s mansion, a ghost slave approached Su Rong with urgency and respect: "Master! In Dark Hell City, a saint-level power, Hades, has appeared. He robbed a newly nurtured treasure, seized control of the third Ghost Realm, and is now gathering a massive force of ghost citizens, claiming to..."
"To what?" Su Rong demanded coldly, her terrifying aura reverberating.
The slave, trembling and sweating, replied, "He says he wants to kill gods to prove his way and liberate the ghost realm!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the slave disintegrated into ghost energy.
"Kill gods to prove his way! Hades, once a ghost slave contract is signed, everything belongs to their master. What does he plan to do with a group of slaves?" Su Rong mused as she ascended into the sky, heading towards the third Ghost Realm.
Moments later, she descended from above and bellowed, "Hades! As a ghost slave, how dare you betray your master! Show yourself!"
"I am not your ghost slave, Su Rong!" responded a figure, stepping out of thin air, sword in hand, confronting her.
"You didn’t sign a ghost slave contract?" Su Rong, in disbelief, questioned the figure. "Impossible, we sealed the entire ghost realm. Every ghost soul was bound by the slave contract. How did you escape?"
"There’s much you don’t know. I created the heavens and earth, condensed the ten divine seats to manage this world and maintain order. But you true gods fought ceaselessly over these seats, even enslaving all in the ghost realm. Today, I shall slay you so-called true gods and grant freedom to the ghost realm!"
Hades stood in the air, holding his long sword, his voice thundering fiercely, echoing across the entire world.
"Bold!"
"Arrogant!"
"Simply seeking death!"
...
Shouts resounded, and from the major Ghost Realms, figures like Annie and Asfur rose into the sky, standing behind Su Rong, glaring furiously at Hades.
Despite their constant conflicts and near-death battles, they shared the divine positions and wouldn’t tolerate anyone challenging their authority, especially not Hades, who seemed intent on slaying all the true gods.
"Whether it’s arrogance or seeking death, you’ll soon find out!" Hades stood undaunted before the nine, his long sword pointing skyward as a torrential aura gathered around him. The world seemed to change color as rolling Ghost Energy surged with his sword.
"The divine seat! You’ve broken through the ghost god realm and acquired the tenth divine seat!" The nine were visibly shocked at the sight. A complete divine seat against their nine, still recovering from injuries, meant the outcome was uncertain.
"Now, do I still seem arrogant and suicidal?" Hades asked, his demeanor commanding.
"What if it’s a complete divine seat! You’ve appeared too late. Standing against us now means standing against the entire Horror World! Where are the ghost slaves?" Su Rong sneered, shouting out, followed by similar cries from the others.
Figures shot into the sky, hundreds of ghost god-level slaves surrounding Hades.
A tremendous battle erupted in the virtual world once again. With the advantage of numbers and the aid of hundreds of ghost god-level slaves, the nine quickly gained the upper hand.
"Hades! Surrender your divine seat, cripple your Ghost Energy, and we might spare your life!" Su Rong’s spear pierced Hades’ shoulder, blood sliding down the shaft.
"Surrender my divine seat? So you can continue your endless wars? Let the entire Horror World continue to languish under your control, everyone a slave to you nine?" Hades chuckled, retreating a few steps, then raising his long sword again. "Today, I shall sever the path of the gods and send you into reincarnation!"
With those words, his sword came crashing down. Terrifying Ghost Energy instantly tilted, a sword light soaring skyward like the sun breaking through the heavens. The world shattered, the fabric of reality itself seeming to be split by his strike.
"No!"
"Stop!"
...
The nine shouted in terror, but it was too late. Not only the heavens and earth cracked, but also their bodies. The Ghost Energy that soared skyward spread between heaven and earth, instantly severing the connection between the ghost slaves and their masters.
Nine shimmering phantoms fell to the ground, their spirits too powerful to lose consciousness and become like other ghost souls, transforming into Xiao fish, instead appearing in a pitch-black underworld.
"My lord! That’s my lord’s aura! What have we done!" Su Rong’s phantom, amidst numerous Xiao fish, was filled with remorse.
"We seem to have been influenced by something!" Edward, sensing something, spoke up. "What could it be that silently affected our consciousness? Isn’t this world created by our lord? How could there be such a thing at the beginning of its creation?"
As they spoke, Edward suddenly looked up, the others doing the same, gazing towards the sky.
Their gaze seemed to penetrate the earth, and above the Horror World, a terrifying crack appeared, with rolling white mist crazily pouring in from the fissure.
"What is that? It feels so dangerous!" Sam furrowed his brows.
"It seems the reincarnation of our lord has unleashed something terrifying. Was it accidental, or intentional?" The group was visibly perturbed, lost in thought.
"It’s getting late; you should enter the cycle of reincarnation now." Suddenly, a voice echoed in the dark hell.
Startled, the nine swiftly turned towards the source of the voice. "Who are you?"
"Sophia, or you can call me Chess Player." A figure emerged from the darkness, also glancing at the billowing white mist above the ground, shaking her head. "Explaining too much is pointless. There isn’t much time left, and you are a crucial part of the plan."
As Sophia spoke, she waved her hand gently, and a stream of grey-white flow shot out, enveloping the nine. This flow was composed of tiny runes, within which were numbers ranging from 0 to 9.
"This is... the law..." Su Rong’s voice of shock flickered in the darkness. Then, all nine figures, including Sophia, vanished as if they had never existed.
In the sky, the swirling white mist churned, and seven figures emerged one after another from within it.
