As long as you have the courage, fierce ghosts go on maternity leave.

Chapter 286: We’re just confirming—you’re certain you want us to attack now?

Chapter 286: We’re just confirming—you’re certain you want us to attack now?

With a whoosh, akin to the howl of a hurricane, Alexander swings his mist-infused chain, sending the hundred-meter arena into a frenzied whirlwind.

It’s a spectacle, as though an immense wheel rolls over a horde of ants, crushing countless ghost soldiers into pulp.

This single move directly results in the deaths of two to three thousand ghosts, leaving the entire battlefield shaken to its core.

This method of attack is unparalleled, a unique feat others can only dream of emulating. All Alexander must do is swing the meteor hammer in his grasp, taking care to avoid friendly fire.

It’s a slaughter—brutal, unrelenting, a massacre of a magnitude that leaves mouths agape.

Astonishingly, Alexander alone is responsible for a staggering 20% of the enemy casualties across the battlefield.

"An aberration! He’s an outright aberration! How do you fight against a battlefield meat grinder like Alexander?" In the rear, Yao seethes in exasperation.

This must be some form of cheating! Until Alexander depletes his energy reserves, no number of men will suffice to be his match.

Frustratingly, looking at Alexander’s effortless grace, it seems unlikely he’ll tire anytime soon.

"This can’t continue; we’re headed for certain defeat," Yao murmurs, his gaze instinctively shifting to Callum and Ares.

If these two were to engage, their terrifying speed—as inherited from the Ghost Emperor—would enable them to dodge the meteor hammer and wield absolute power to vanquish Alexander.

"Don’t even think about it!" Ares immediately shakes his head, pointing towards the battlefield.

"That’s the Blizzard Female Emperor we’re talking about! And there’s also Emperor Kui. If we send our men into the fray, at least one of us might not make it back alive—possibly both of us!"

"Exactly!" Callum nods repeatedly, draping an arm around the shoulders of an elder next to him. "Uncle Lex is my closest kin; anyone who wants to send him to his death will have to deal with me first!"

"So the question remains: who will stay behind to hold off the Blizzard Female Emperor?" Ares poses the query, eyes turning to Yao.

Had the eleven Ghost Imperials not perished, and had the Endless Abyss army been available to charge forth like a tidal wave, he might have dared to take the gamble.

But with ten out of the eleven Ghost Emperors dead, and the sole survivor missing an arm, the situation is dire.

"Ares Emperor, Callum Emperor, there’s only one way out now," Yao finally speaks, clearly reluctant to risk it all.

After a moment’s hesitation, he resolutely states:"Send your troops in; let’s have our three cities lay siege to Dark Hell. Alexander may be the Chosen One, but he’s still made of flesh and blood. Sooner or later, he will exhaust his stamina. Let our vanguard avoid him, break through their military lines, and seize Dark Hell City in one swift move!"

As his words fell, Yao noticed the strange expressions on the faces of Ares and Callum and immediately grew wary.

"You two wouldn’t be having second thoughts now, would you? We had an agreement, remember? How will you explain yourselves to Lord K if you don’t honor it?"

Even as he grew cautious, Yao assumed their hesitance was about their initial decision to join forces in the siege, not considering other possibilities.

"Of course not! If we’ve chosen to ally with you, we won’t back down," Ares quickly shook his head, a cunning smile flickering across his eyes.

"We’re just confirming—you’re certain you want us to attack now? If we end this battle too quickly, you might regret it."

"Cut the crap! If we wait any longer, more than half of my army will be decimated! Attack now, and may whoever backs down be a damn coward!" Yao, seeing the worsening conditions on the battlefield, didn’t think twice before shouting his orders.

"If you say so! Netherworld army, hear my command... Charge and surround the enemy forces!" Ares’ voice rolled like thunder, reverberating in every direction.

"Attack!" With Ares’ shout, the Netherworld army, which had been hanging back, surged forward. Not towards Dark Hell, but towards the rear of the Endless Abyss forces.

Yes, towards the Endless Abyss.

Yao was stunned, even rubbing his eyes to triple-check.

Finally convinced he wasn’t seeing things, he looked anxiously at Ares: "What’s going on? Your troops are attacking the wrong side!"

"What are you all waiting for? Can’t you see Lord Yao is anxious? Kill!" At that moment, Callum also shouted his orders, and the army from Undead City moved as well.

Their target was, likewise, the rear of the Endless Abyss forces.

"What is the meaning of this?" Yao was completely frantic, his eyes darting between Ares and Callum. "We agreed to attack the Dark Hell together, and you dare betray our agreement?"

Facing him were four Ghost Emperors and more than a dozen Ghost Imperials, all smiling as they circled around Yao.

"Don’t you get it yet?" Ares stroked his nose, his body pulsing with Ghost Energy as he stepped in front of Yao.

"There was never an agreement to begin with. Callum and I are merely here to repay a debt—a debt to Alexander! Your Endless Abyss has been waging wars everywhere. That scheming Kevin even stretched his tentacles into our cities. Do you really think everyone is a fool?"

"Alexander! It’s always Alexander!" Yao’s eyes widened in disbelief as he glared venomously at the distant figure of Alexander, who was still swinging his meteor hammer.

"Alexander, you sly dog—playing tricks again!" Yao bellowed.

"Again?" Callum paused, his face turning into a scowl.

"Dr. Charles is a person of integrity, selflessness, and generosity who saves lives without asking for anything in return. How dare you slander him!"

"Integrity? Selflessness? A good person?" Yao seemed as though he were on the verge of exploding.

"Are you even listening to yourselves? Do you Emperors, the supposed paragons of the Ghost world, have no shame? Just to please Dark Hell, you’re willing to throw your dignity out the window?

Alexander is a devious bandit, a scoundrel who resorts to sneaky tactics, and you’re calling him selfless and honorable? If he’s honorable, then there are no dishonorable people left in this world!"

Yao was not just livid; he was incensed to his core. They say the one who knows you best is often your enemy.

For Emperors from other cities, a small Chosen One like Alexander from Dark Hell would never capture their attention—even if he turned Dark Hell upside down.

But Endless Abyss was different. Lord K’s prestige in Endless Abyss was even higher than that of Louis in Dark Hell.

When Lord K lost his arm—a seismic event in Endless Abyss—it naturally called for an investigation into Alexander, the instigator.

Particularly for the core figures in Endless Abyss, their understanding of Alexander even surpassed that of many citizens in Dark Hell. From what Yao knew of Alexander, not a single deed could be associated with the words ’honorable’ or ’selfless.’

"How dare you defame the man who saved my life!" Callum snarled, his voice dripping with indignation.

Fury ignited in Callum’s eyes!

Seeing Yao continue to slander Dr. Charles, the epitome of selflessness and virtue in his heart, Callum decided enough was enough—it was time to take action against Yao!
