Chapter 283: You want it to be ten against one, do you? I’ll meet your request

"Roderick, Ignatius, slaughter him for me! Cordelia, charge with me! The rest of you, keep that Ghost Emperor occupied!" Brilliant’s gaze briefly swept over Alexander and his companions before he immediately barked out orders.

Without skipping a beat, he charged into the heart of the army, Cordelia in tow. The eleven Imperials promptly split into several groups.

Two targeted Alexander, one intercepted Kui, while the rest lunged at Blizzard.

Clearly, due to the pressing time constraints, they had not been informed of the trio’s terrifying capabilities—especially that of Emperor Kui.

"Just one person to stop me?" Emperor Kui’s face twisted into a snarl as she saw she was to be held back by a single opponent.

She was Emperor Kui! Her stagnation at the Imperial level was not for lack of Ghost Energy, but rather due to her overpowering talents.

Harboring tens of millions of Devil Babies, an entity of dread, the Emperor tier was an insurmountable boundary for her.

Great gifts came at a great cost!

Nearly invincible, with endless reserves of Ghost Energy, as long as her 30 million Devil Babies lived, Kui could endlessly resurrect. Consequently, her power had plateaued at the Imperial level.

All the Ghost Energy she absorbed Ghost Imperial ascension was transferred through her talents to her Devil Babies. Her level would never rise unless her Devil Babies caught up.

Caring for thirty million Devil Babies meant leveling up was next to impossible. But to Emperor Kui, levels and strength were not one and the same.

If pushed to the brink, her Devil Babies could make any Ghost Emperor—even an Inheritance Ghost Emperor—despair.

To send a single Ghost Imperial to intercept such an entity capable of driving even Inheritance Ghost Emperors to the edge of despair was nothing short of an insult. How could she not seethe with rage?

"Stop you? Killing you myself will be more than enough!" The Ghost Imperial blocking Emperor Kui evidently failed to grasp the gravity of the situation.

A self-assured smile filled his eyes as Ghost Energy roiled within him. His body turned ethereal and began to split.

Soon, shadowy figures branched off to either side—two entities possessing the same strength, same appearance, and even the same energy appeared on the battlefield.

Yet that was not the end; these were special forces personally trained by Lord K, each a monstrosity in their own right.

Following the initial split, another surge of Ghost Energy initiated a second bifurcation. Once split into two, then four, and finally eight—each paused only after dividing three times.

Eight figures, each brandishing a long sword, all at the late-Imperial level, stared coldly at Emperor Kui. They seemed to anticipate the shock and horror that would fill her eyes. However, all they saw was disdain and fury.

"Is this it? Is this the trump card that makes you confident enough to stop me alone? Duplicates? You think you’re the only one capable of that?"

A furious woman is fearsome; a furious female ghost, even more so.

After a quick glance at Alexander confirmed he needed no assistance, Emperor Kui’s raven-black hair danced in the wind. Ghost Energy surged wildly from her body as she flicked a black seed from her fingertips.

Endless Ghost Energy poured into the seed from Emperor Kui. Swiftly, centering around the black seed, it coalesced into a seductive female figure, exuding an aura that also reached the Imperial tier.

Yet, even though Emperor Kui could similarly create duplicates, the gap between her and the Imperial trying to intercept her remained palpable.

Firstly, the female ghost conjured from the black seed was only at the early Imperial level, her weapon nothing more than a manifestation of pooled Ghost Energy.

Secondly, this was not some sort of duplicate but rather a puppet. She bore no resemblance to Emperor Kui and wore a vacuous expression, clearly devoid of intelligence.

"Haha!" The Split Ghost Imperial, upon witnessing this, immediately let out a sigh of relief and burst into laughter.

"My Splits are simultaneously controlled by me; they have no difference in power or intellect, effectively making them eight late-level Ghost Imperials. Your mindless creation? I could defeat ten of them with one hand!"

"Ten against one? I’ll oblige," Emperor Kui nodded solemnly.

Ghost Energy swirled around her as ninety-nine more black seeds materialized. These seeds swiftly transformed into ninety-nine female ghosts, instantly encircling the eight Ghost Imperials.

"You look down on me, huh? Send only one person to stop me, you say? Ten against one, is it? Tear him apart!" With a derisive smile and a deafening shout, Emperor Kui unleashed her army of one hundred Ghost Imperials.

They lunged without any tactical finesse, without unleashing any special Ghost Skills, akin to a reckless bar fight.

"How is this possible!" The Splits were stunned. Swinging their swords frantically, they managed to cut through several of the puppet ghosts.

But then something even more dreadful occurred. One of the Splits severed a female ghost at the waist with ease, yet the puppet ghost’s expression remained unchanging.

She burst into a black seed, and a tide of Ghost Energy flowed from Emperor Kui into the seed, restoring the puppet to her original state almost instantly.

"They can resurrect?" With no time to think, the Splits fought ferociously, cutting down puppet after puppet. But their efforts were futile.

The seed-made ghosts died and resurrected constantly, seizing any opportunity to tear flesh from the Splits. Within mere moments, two Splits were ripped to shreds.

"I’ll kill you, and we’ll see if they can resurrect then!" In a state of desperation, five Splits charged at Emperor Kui, risking dismemberment by her puppets. One Split thrust his sword, swift as lightning, piercing Emperor Kui’s heart.

However, the split Ghost Imperial’s face bore not a trace of elation; it was a visage of sheer terror. He understood that his sword had struck its mark not because of his swift speed, but because Emperor Kui was too disdainful to even bother dodging.

An endless whirlpool of Ghost Energy swirled around the wound. Emperor Kui glanced down at the sword piercing her chest. Her expression remained impassive; she even lazily stretched her back.

Her sultry form was accentuated by the gesture, but the Split Ghost Imperial had no mood to appreciate the aesthetics. He was utterly horrified.

"What kind of ability is this?"

"Ah, of all the people to offend, he had to pick a woman harboring thirty million Devil Babies," Alexander, who was not far off, avoided an attack using his spatial talent and shook his head as he watched the spectacle unfold.

This fool had not only tried to stop Emperor Kui by himself, which was a miscalculation in its own right, but he had also taunted her, insisting he could take on ten of her puppets. Well, his wish had come true.

There was no longer any need to watch—the sword remained lodged in Emperor Kui’s chest, unable to be withdrawn. Since she could not be killed, the outcome was glaringly obvious.

For this Split Ghost Imperial, death had become merely a question of time.
