Chapter 170 124: The Water's Fine! (Part 4)
Tan Huajun smiled as usual at Zhang Su, just about to get out of the car, when Zhang Su made a gesture to come closer. He quickly leaned in.
"Tonight, have your people keep an eye on Zhang Ya!"
"??!!"
With a look of confusion and surprise, Tan Huajun nodded and got off the RV.
Inside the vehicle, everyone except Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan quickly diverted their eyes and focused on their tasks. They knew better than to gossip about the boss's personal matters.
The two RVs had a total of four beds. In the Mercedes RV, Zhang Su, Zheng Xinyu, and Zhong Xiaoshan slept in the master bedroom's large bed, with no competition. Another slightly smaller double bed, converted from the living room sofa, belonged to Zhao Dezhu, Yu Qing, and Yuwen.
The Mercedes RV could accommodate more people on the carpet, the driver's seat, or even the aisle, but since they had another RV, there was no need to cram.
In the bedroom, ambient light cast a moonlit glow on the bedding. The soft luminescence was enchanting. Zhang Su lay with his head on his arm, the pristine, soft linens feeling surreal as he strained to capture subtle conversation sounds around him. Suddenly, he noticed a pair of big eyes glaring at him, sending a chill down his spine.
"You're not sleepy, huh? If you're not, go kill zombies in the village... why are you staring at me?"
Zhang Su asked helplessly.
"You're interested in Zhang Ya."
Zheng Xinyu said out of the blue, straightforward and without any beating around the bush.
Zhang Su rolled his eyes and said softly, "You really think I'd trust Zhang Ya so easily? She's not as dull as Pang Dakun. Are you two stupid?"
"I didn't say anything."
Zhong Xiaoshan felt a bit wronged, for she hadn't said a word.
Zheng Xinyu blinked her eyes a few times, dumbfounded, and asked, "Then do you think Zhang Ya has a problem?"
"Not think, replace think with know," Zhang Su twisted his body and said.
"You know Zhang Ya has a problem!?" Zheng Xinyu exclaimed, sitting up halfway, "Then why did you let her join the team if you know she has issues? And you want us to be nice to her?"
"Brother Su, do you have some sort of plan?" Zhong Xiaoshan asked softly, exchanging a look with Zheng Xinyu, continuing, "If knowing would hinder your plan, then don't tell us."
"You're both so dramatic; it doesn't matter if I tell you." Zhang Su chuckled and said, "If I'm not mistaken, Zhang Ya is an undercover agent sent by Liang Xiaocheng!"
"Oh?"
"Oh my God..."
Their eyes widened, and even Corgi Good Fortune, lying at the bedroom door, perked up its ears, listening intently.
"It's not about fearing the thief stealing, it's fearing the thief scheming. Liang Xiaocheng is in the dark now, and I don't want to waste time dragging him out. So, I might as well play along and wait for Zhang Ya to make a move, but she hasn't acted yet. I have no idea how she's going to contact Liang Xiaocheng."
Zhang Su spoke slowly, listening to the people conversing in the RV next door—it was all old celebrity gossip, nothing substantial...
"So what should we do?"
Zheng Xinyu asked.
Zhang Su replied, "Nothing needs to be done, and nothing can be done, just wait and be on guard for her causing trouble, but don't let her notice. That's all."
"Okay!"
The two responded softly.
Soon after, the vehicle fell into silence, no turbulence, and low snores could be heard shortly after—whatever thoughts were swirling, everyone knew this wasn't the right environment.
Unbeknownst to the three, as soon as their conversation ended, Corgi Good Fortune quietly left, slipping out through the ventilated passenger window and sneaked into Fukner Meifu.
The number of sentries increased from one to two, excluding Zhang Ya, twelve people were enough to split into six shifts. However, Zhang Su kept three shifts for the night to avoid errors from frequent turnover.
After the Pang Dakun incident, the sentries dared not relax in the slightest. Even when chatting, they would stand back-to-back, not letting their eyes stray from the surveillance area.
