Chapter 328-Now Who Is A Better Choice For Me?
Kash:
I had to rush to save my wife, and I am so glad I did. If I had not seen that missed call, I do not know what would have happened.
Thankfully, my beautiful mate was fine. My baby was fine, and Luca was fine too.
Now days had passed, and I would take some time out of my life to visit Iris, although I was being sneaky about it.
At this point, everyone knew there was no way I could stay sane without seeing her.
Even though we had promised to be very careful and not meet until the whole thing was done, I just could not do it.
I was seeing her every few days.
At this point, I really wanted everything to move forward because I wanted to bring Iris back.
This pregnancy should not be something we go through alone. She should not be alone.
My children had also become quiet and upset.
They did not deserve all this, but we had to do it so everyone would face the consequences of taking Lara’s side and thinking she was ever a better choice than Iris.
Then one day I arrived and realized that Lara had started her actions.
The more I supported her, the more she was getting out of control.
When my mother and sister found me at the entrance, I knew it had begun.
Zoe also glanced at me, letting me know everything was going fine.
Then my mother told me how Lara had disrespected her.
So I went upstairs with them to confront Lara.
And I say that in quotations because that was not what I was going to do.
I knew Lara must have had a plan in mind to turn things around on my family, which my mother truly deserved.
The moment we entered the room, Lara started crying.
My mother looked like she had received the shock of her life.
"I don’t know what she’s saying."
My mother cried out, shaking her head at Lara’s accusations.
"It is true. I was just speaking with them, and then they attacked me. I had to run and stay in my room, and yet your mother kept knocking on the door angrily."
Lara began crying again and hugged me tightly.
I wanted to push her off quickly, but this was the moment of realization for my mother, so I could not do much.
"Mother, what is she saying?"
I questioned my mother.
"Don’t you know she is pregnant? How could you push her around or attack her?"
I asked sternly, watching her eyes widen in shock and surprise.
"She’s lying."
My mother gasped. Her face turned pale, and she looked like she was about to lose her mind.
"Mom, look at her. She is shaking," I commented.
Zoe had to turn her back toward us, probably because I knew she was silently smiling behind her hands.
My mother looked from one person to another, trying to understand what was really happening.
"You think your mother is lying?" my mother yelled, pointing at herself.
"Mother, I’m not saying that, but Lara never lies. You told me she never lies," I protested.
Then I watched realization strike my mother.
"And you know, baby, they used to do the same to Iris too. I swear. Your mother used to tell me all about it. She used to brag about it."
As expected, once my mother was already too shocked and unable to defend herself, Lara exposed their previous alliances.
"No, we didn’t. That is not true. Remember, Iris never told you we did that," my mother insisted.
But I began to shake my head.
"Why would I care what Iris says? Iris lies anyway," I remarked, feeling a strain in my heart for speaking about Iris like that.
"No, she told you that we were nice to her, right?" my mother reminded me again.
I rolled my eyes.
"No, Mother. Whatever she said was always a lie. So no, do not bring her up." I hissed.
"As for Lara, you loved her so much. But suddenly you are attacking her. You are calling her a liar. What is going on?"
I questioned my mother, my hands in my pants pockets.
Lara was clinging to me, but I did not wrap my arms around her again. I just did not want to.
The way they kept bringing up Iris was really affecting me, and I did not feel able to even pretend to be intimate with Lara.
My mother turned to Zoe for help.
Of course, she was my mother, and it was not like I could watch her go through all that.
I had to keep looking away.
I did not understand why she had done that to herself.
Why would she not accept someone like Iris and instead make her life so miserable, all for a woman like Lara?
Just because she thought Lara was an alpha’s daughter, she believed she was better than Iris.
Wait until she finds out that Iris is a fucking Lycan princess.
"So your mother hates me," Lara let out a small cry.
"All because I wanted to save Zoe from ruining her life."
Lara continued speaking while Zoe was taking my mother out of the room.
At this point, I was glad because my mother was able to hear everything Lara was saying.
Once they left, I straightened my back and stretched my neck.
Lara watched my face with so much enthusiasm, all smiley and happy.
"Thank you," she uttered, pouting at me.
"For what, love?" I forced the word out of my lips, my hands still in my pockets.
"For not yelling at me or believing what they were saying about me," she replied, blinking dramatically.
I gave her a taunting smile, but of course she did not pick up on it.
"Of course. That is because I trust you," I commented dryly, but it was enough to bring a huge smile to her lips.
"Anyway, I’ll go freshen up," I said, excusing myself.
I knew that if I stayed longer, she would cling to me again.
When I walked out of the room, I noticed my mother and my sister sitting in the living room, talking about the whole encounter.
