Chapter 204: "Victor Morgan, you’re so clingy now.
A wave rolled in, and Jessie Sterling stood on her surfboard, gliding along its crest. She looked completely at ease, suspended between the sun and the sea.
Victor Morgan stood on the shore, watching her from a distance. He slowly waded into the ocean, then dove in with a powerful plunge. Like a silver fish, he swam swiftly toward the spot where Jessie Sterling was surfing.
Just as Jessie lost her footing and tumbled off her board, Victor swam over in a flash and scooped her out of the water.
Jessie Sterling wrapped her arms around Victor Morgan’s neck and laughed.
The sun, the waves, the sand, and her lover—everything she could want was right here, within her grasp.
She didn’t ask why Victor had suddenly appeared beside her. She simply hooked her arms around his neck and initiated a kiss.
’When the person you love is right beside you, you have to kiss them with all you’ve got.’
’Can’t let the moment pass.’
Jessie had lost track of how many days and nights she’d spent on the island. All she knew was that whenever she woke up, she and Victor would either go diving, go fishing, or just spend their time wrapped up in each other.
One evening, she left their room with a coconut in hand and strolled with Victor along the fine, white sand.
The sunset painted the horizon in gorgeous shades of violet and red.
Jessie wasn’t sure when, exactly, she had ended up sitting in Victor’s lap.
She knew their room was just a short distance away, but in that moment, perhaps bewitched by the sunset, she felt incredibly bold.
It wasn’t until Victor was holding her bikini in his hand that Jessie felt a flicker of panic.
"Let’s go back..." Jessie whispered.
"Isn’t this nice?"
"But what if—what if someone sees us!" Jessie’s face flushed with anxiety.
Victor chuckled softly and held her even tighter.
"There’s no one here..."
Jessie seemed to have just remembered that this was Victor’s private island. There was no one else around.
Even the gardeners who maintained the island’s flowers had left as soon as they arrived.
Which meant that on this entire island, it was just her and Victor.
Even if they did something out in the open, no one would see.
The moment Jessie felt the sand against her back, she knew it was too late to stop anything.
’Out here...’
Jessie had no idea how she got back to their room. All she knew was that when she woke up, she opened her eyes to see Victor packing his suitcase.
Vacations always seemed to fly by. She felt as if she’d only just blinked, and several days had already passed.
On the plane, Jessie leaned against Victor. "It feels like we just got here!"
Her body felt limp and boneless. Even though she had slept from last night until that afternoon, she still didn’t feel fully rested.
Jessie placed all the blame squarely on Victor.
"Want to come back again?" Victor asked.
Jessie eyed him suspiciously. She had ample evidence to suspect his offer had ulterior motives.
"We’ll see. Maybe I’ll come with Lynn next month. I don’t have to wait for you, you know," Jessie said.
Victor: "..."
’Lynn Jennings again,’ he thought.
"She’s pregnant now. It wouldn’t be convenient for her to come with you," Victor said coolly.
’Of course, he was the most convenient person for Jessie to have fun with.’
"Then I’ll ask Number Two. She usually doesn’t take her annual leave, so I’ll go with her," Jessie said, seemingly oblivious to the unspoken self-recommendation in Victor’s words, completely ignoring the man right beside her.
Victor: "..."
Before he could say anything this time, Jessie spoke again.
"And even if Number Two is busy, there’s always Serena! I feel like Serena has a lot of free time lately, too!" Jessie said with a wide smile.
This time, Victor got the message loud and clear. His wife was planning on inviting anyone but him.
He looked down, pulled Jessie directly onto his lap, and gave her a little bounce. "Hm? So you’ll go with anyone, just not with me, is that it?"
Jessie flashed a cunning smile. "Of course not. I’m just being considerate. You’re always so busy with work."
"I have more than enough time to spend with my wife. And even if I didn’t, I’d make some," Victor said bluntly.
Jessie: "..."
She thought for a moment, then reached out and gently pushed his face away. "Victor Morgan, you’re not cool anymore."
Victor: "???"
"Back when you first had dinner with my family, and when I asked Lynn to look you up, everyone said you were the ’cool guy’ type who didn’t talk much!"
Victor: "???"
’What’s that supposed to mean? What is she up to now?’
"Look how clingy you are now! I mention going out with another friend and you immediately want to tag along. That’s not what a ’cool guy’ does at all!" Jessie said in all seriousness.
’Back then, she’d thought Victor was so mysterious. He didn’t have a single photo on any of his social media accounts.’
’Every time he attended a press conference, there was a designated spokesperson, and the media was forbidden from taking his photo.’
’She had even worried that she and Victor would have nothing to talk about. But now, it turned out the man was just impossibly clingy!’
After hearing what Jessie meant, Victor almost laughed out of exasperation.
"Do you know what this is called?" he asked.
Jessie looked at him, puzzled.
As he answered, Victor reached out and flicked her on the forehead.
"It’s called getting exactly what you want and still complaining."
Jessie burst out laughing. ’Okay, she had to admit she was being a little ungrateful, taking advantage of Victor’s indulgence to deliberately push his buttons.’
"Fine, then," she said, her tone dripping with mock reluctance. "I guess I’ll have to ask you to come with me next time. It’s your fault for being so stingy and not letting me hang out with anyone else."
Victor gripped her chin, forcing her to turn and face him, leaving her no room to escape.
Then he lowered his head and crushed his lips against hers.
’Let’s see just how stubborn that mouth of hers is,’ he thought.
’But when he kissed her, it was nothing but soft.’
A couple of days after Jessie returned to Aethelburg, she was just in time for a livestream with the cast of "Glory."
Because the series had become a massive hit, a short-video platform had partnered with "Glory" to set up a promotional "mukbang" livestream to drive traffic.
This type of livestream was quite common: the main cast, and sometimes a few crew members, would gather around a table in a studio and eat a meal together.
A host would guide the conversation by tossing out questions, making sure there were no awkward silences.
For fans, especially "shipper" fans, these kinds of informal gatherings were a goldmine; they could mine every single frame for a little bit of "sweetness."
As a result, these livestreams were very popular with viewers, especially with dedicated fans who were emotionally invested in the show.
What surprised Jessie was that she, too, had received an invitation.
