Chapter 960: Ryker, Be Good—Let’s Stop Digging
Ryker successfully pried apart all her fingers, pulled her away, and bent down to continue digging coal.Zoe Lewis persevered and hugged him again: "Isn’t it enough for me to admit I’m wrong?"
Ryker ignored her, continued digging coal even while being hugged.
But his mood was so bad that even digging coal couldn’t fix it.
The truth is, Zoe didn’t even know what she had done wrong; she kept crying: "What’s wrong with you, you scolded me, then you’re in a bad mood, and now you want me to apologize to you! I haven’t even asked you to apologize to me yet!"
"I don’t care, if you don’t leave today, I’ll keep hugging you. If you want to carry a loudspeaker draggy coal-digging, go right ahead!"
"Uncle and Aunt are worried sick about you, they sent me out to find you. I even got slapped by my cousin to sneak out of the house, do you have any conscience left? Why are you still digging?!"
All the other coal miners looked at the two of them; mining life was tedious, and suddenly there was a commotion to watch, everyone got excited.
Ryker was so entangled by Zoe that he couldn’t dig coal anymore; first, she hugged his back, then quickly shifted to his front.
Sometimes she hugged his waist, sometimes his arm, making him restless and agitated.
Ryker had no choice but to throw down the pickaxe and stood there looking down at her.
She had cried so much she looked like a dirty little kitten, her face was smudged with coal dust, looking funny and a bit pitifully cute.
Zoe saw he finally stopped and quickly took out a bottle of mineral water, unscrewing the cap to feed him.
Ryker turned his face away, not letting her feed him.
He took the bottle and drank it all down in one go.
Feeling relieved, Zoe took out a clean towel to wipe his face: "Ryker, be good, we’re not digging anymore. It’s my fault. I won’t make you angry again. You can scold me, but don’t go digging coal anymore."
This time, Ryker stood still and let her wipe.
The white towel quickly turned black, and his grimy face finally showed its original fair complexion, contrasting sharply with the dark mine.
The young boss had already left the mine to call Oscar Price; there’s no signal at the bottom of the mine.
The onlooking miners initially thought they were witnessing some drama, but Zoe unexpectedly fed them a mouthful of dog food, felt stimulated, and returned to digging coal.
For the sake of appeasing Ryker, Zoe made great sacrifices, repeatedly apologizing, admitting she was wrong, trying to make Ryker calm down and take him to the surface.
Unexpectedly, Ryker wouldn’t let it go: "What exactly are you wrong about?"
In truth, Zoe didn’t think she was wrong at all; she felt Ryker was at fault!
She strained her mind trying to figure it out and tentatively asked: "Wrong for touching your waist?"
Ryker’s face turned cold: "Where’s your head? Filled with coal dust?"
Zoe was aggrieved, wondering why it suddenly turned into a personal attack on her?
She said defiantly: "It can’t be because I hugged my cousin and cousin-in-law’s arm, right? Do you have to manage even this? Isn’t that too controlling?"
Ryker’s voice grew even colder: "If you like hugging people, go hug them. But you can’t touch me; hug whoever you want, just not me."
Zoe now realized he was angry because she hugged her cousin and cousin-in-law’s arm and then went to hug him, inciting his anger.
But what’s there to be angry about?
Moreover, her physical contact with Oscar Price and Lucia Price had a purpose.
She had planted a bug on Oscar Price; she needed to know what foolish things Oscar was up to lately to avoid being implicated.
