Chapter 246 246: Aid

A/N: sorry for the delay on this chapter, needed a bit of a break as was getting burnt out from writing daily for nearly a full year. Should be back to daily chapters for the foreseeable future though :)

The world turned purple as Violet unleashed her most powerful working of magic, the runes carved in reality that dotted around the battlefield flared in tune with the overcharged void cannon floating above her head. Well over half of her total mana poured out into this spell meaning that if this attack failed things would only get harder from here on out.

The void cannon fired, the explosive blast of concentrated void shot forwards directly aimed at the Incarnation standing in the back of the army.

The creature was quick to react, instantly summoning several spatial shields to intercept the main attack. Yet the attack did not impact the shields, instead they impacted the first of the runes that floated in the air.

When this rune was impacted it absorbed every last drop of void energy sent its way, at that moment 3 other runes that linked with the primary rune flared with power, these runes acted as a kind of portal specifically made for void mana. When the first rune was impacted all of the void was channeled through the rune and split into 3 sections.

These three portions were then shot forwards from the 3 respective runes. These runes were not aimed at the incarnation, but instead at the back lines of the army.

The void tore through everything that they touched, dozens of creatures instantly being killed as their bodies simply ceased to exist wherever the void touched them.

Yet the three beams did not simply stop, no they continued on, each of the three beams impacted yet another set of runes on the other side of the cavern. These tertiary runes then transferred the void to 1 final receiver rune. This last rune was positioned behind the incarnation.

The 3 slightly reduced beams now reconvened into a single blast heading directly for the incarnation, only from a spot that was not actively being protected by spatial barriers.

Yet the incarnation was still a terrifyingly powerful creature, even in the spilt second that it took for the void to bounce between the runes it was able to react.

A powerful yet hasty spatial shield was erected in the path of this final attack.

When the condensed void impacted with the shield reality cracked. A sound like breaking glass rang out as the shield was fractured. Some void managed to slip through these fractures yet the majority of the shield managed to stay together just long enough to block most of the void heading in its creators direction.

Still, some void did slip through. One of the incarnations arms was entirely erased, another sliver of void punched a small hole through the beings gut, then the final sliver of void that managed to get through impacted the foot of the being removing that limb too from reality.

All of that happened in less than a single second, during that eternal second the world was bathed in the purple glow of the void. Yet that glow faded away along with the sound of shattering reality as the monstrous amounts of mana that had been used finally ran out.

Violet lost strength in her legs after that cast, stumbling to the ground in momentary exhaustion. Yet before her knees could even hit the floor she found herself being supported by the stocky shoulder of Odrin as he appeared at her side.

In the next instant an ear shattering screech rang out from the incarnation, the power behind that scream sent wayward blasts of spatial power flying out in all directions. The nearby creatures unlucky enough to be nearby were cut to ribbons, further reducing the number of foes that the adventures faced.

With that singular attack the army of creatures had been cut in half once again. Where before the creatures had been managing to remain at around 50 with their constant reinforcements, now their numbers had been sliced down to just over 20.

Furthermore that pain of re during Violet's attack caused the incarnation to loose concentration on its existing portals that were still summoning reinforcements.

With that lose of concentration the 3 open portals snapped shut with the resounding crack of space once more reasserting its solidity. The unfortunate creatures still mid way through those portals suffered the grizzly fate of being cut in half.

Whilst the majority of the fighters in both sides of the conflict froze in place after witnessing the magical might, several key fighters did not allow that display to hinder their actions. Primary amongst them being Violet's friends and companion.

Luna did not slow her assult in the slightest, her domain of ice expanding rapidly as she poured her mana into it, at the same time her arms turned into blurs as she sliced through every creature stuck within her domain.

Olivia and Rhyana too redoubled their own offense, each of them managing to score several deadly wounds on the enemy combatants.

Similarly the more experienced adventures did not allow themselves to get distracted, each one unleashing their most powerful skills to deal devastating damage to all that stood in their way.

In the scant few seconds after Violet unleashed her magics the number of creatures opposing the adventures dropped from 50 to less that 10.

The incarnation glared at Violet with murder in its eyes. It stumbled in place as its missing foot threw off its ballence, yet it did not allow itself to fall.

The adventures who had been momentarily stunned regained their whits and returned their attention back to the fight, blood instantly being split as the adventures, for the first time since the fight started found themselves in the position of outnumbering their foes.

Despit that however, the incarnation did not seem worried, only angry.

That more than anything else worried Violet and Odrin who still supported the woozy dragon.

A guttural growl emerged from the incarnation, gathering the attention of any not still engaged in battle. Mana surged as space began to ripple around the creature in ominous waves.

Yet before whatever spell the creature was casting could be completed a fresh surge of mana emerged from the dungeon portal, swiftly followed by a blur as a person charged forward with incredible speed.

Clad in blood speckled armour and with his sword raised. Commander Massin crashed into the form of the incarnation with devastating force, his sword slicing down with the intention to cleave the creature in two.

A shield flickered into existence, mostly blocking the attack yet the creature was still sent flying away from the force alone, its body crashing into the far wall of the cavern with a dull thud.

Masin stood tall as he observed the battlefield, his eyes flickering over the mass of dead creatures, lingering for a prolonged moment of the fallen adventures.

He then turned his gaze to the slumped incarnation as it shakily made its way back to its feet. A hateful glare being directed at both Masin and Violet.

Then with an indignant cry of pain and rage a portal formed underneath the incarnation, its body disappeared beyond the event horizon and but a moment later the portal snapped shut with a definitive snap.
