Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 235: A Meeting of Dragons

Chapter 235: A Meeting of Dragons

Violet stared up at the giant dragon before her in a mix of awe and hesitation. Awe as she had never seen another dragon apart from her and Rhyana, unless you count the body of her mother. Hesitation as she also understood how dungeons worked.

Any creature that was encountered within a dungeon was not actually alive, or at least it was not able to truly leave the dungeon. So whilst at one point this dragon before her may have been alive in the outside world, it may as well be considered to be dead.

However, before she could get her emotions under control fully the dragon spoke once again as he gazed down at Violet.

"What is a whelp such as you doing disturbing my rest? What are you even doing away from your nest?" It was said in a condescending tone as the larger dragon was clearly looking down on Violet, both figuratively and literally.

That caused Violet’s pride to flare up as her hesitation turned into indignation. "I’m here to clear this dungeon you live in you old fossil. You don’t get to judge me when your allowing chaos to reign in your domain."

The ’old fossil’ snorted at her words, sending a wave of heat to wash over Violet. "Ha! At least you have some guts in ya welp. But that doesn’t change the fact that you woke me up from my nap with a challenge, why?"

Violet let out a snort of her own at his words as she replied. "I’m on a quest, I need to defeat the monster that is causing chaos here, yet we are not strong enough to defeat it by ourselves. So we were looking for help to beat it."

It was only then that the old dragon actually looked up at the girls standing up at the edge of the depression, they had all heard the interactions and had a variety of expressions at the contents of their conversation. Rhyana, Susan and Olivia looked a mix of awe, confusion and fear as they stared at the red dragon. Luna was the only one not looking at the dragon in fear, but instead a hint of annoyance at how he had dismissed Violet so easily.

"And so is this you asking for my aid?" The red dragon asked, a hint of amusement present in his voice as his gaze turned back towards Violet.

"Yes." Was all that Violet answered with, not bothering to say more.

"Hmph, and why should I help you, whelp?"

Violet fumed for a moment before eventually replying. "Because I’ll beat you up if you don’t!"

The giant red dragon raised one scaled eyebrow at the comment. "Really now? Little ol you will beat me?" Then his presence surged, once more impacting Violet with its full power. "I’d like to see you try!" He finished with in a domineering tone as smoke was exhaled from his nostrils.

Violet grit her teeth under the renewed pressure, her own presence was on full blast as she withstood the onslaught that was trying to force her to take a knee. Yet she refused.

She refused to be looked down on, refused to let some old fossil that was already dead dictate what she could or couldn’t do.

So instead of capitulating, Violet decided to launch a single overwhelming attack.

She took a long, slow breath in, energy building up in her throat as purple light began to illuminate the scales along her neck.

The older dragon noticed this and snorted in derision as he too inhaled in preparation for releasing his own dragon breath. Heat built around him, to the point that the very air itself began to distort from the temperature.

Yet Violet did not back down, only gathering more power, building up to unleash the most powerful attack that she could.

With a roar that shook the ground, filled with her determination Violet unleashed her dragon breath.

A blast of condensed void erupted from her throat in a burst of purple light that turned the world into shades of purple for a brief moment.

However, soon another colour joined the monochrome world. A deep vibrant red bloomed, like the sun rising over the horizon welcoming the world into a new day.

The world was contrasted between these two shades, only for them to clash in the middle of the two dragons in a explosive collision.

BOOOOM!!

Violet was sent staggering backwards from the impact, even with her reward from the first floor helping her with enduring the backlash from her breath she still felt like her entire throat had been torn apart.

Even still she did not relent in her breath. The void erupting from her in a powerful blast that did not cease.

Void met fire, each power fighting to remain supreme in their fight for dominance.

Soon however, Violet was unable to maintain her breath, the pain from overusing it too much for her to bear. With a snap her jaws shut and she braced herself to endure the onslaught of flams that she was sure would soon be coming to impact her.

Yet, no flames came. Hesitantly Violet opened her eyes, when she saw the scene in front of her, her eyes opened wide in shocked amazement.

The red dragon was still standing, yet he had been pushed back even further than Violet had been. Deep furrows showed in the ground where he had tried to hold his ground against the force of Violet’s attack.

That was not all either, it would seem like Violet had managed to overpower his breath right at the end as his entire chest looked to have been impacted by her breath. Nearly every scale on his broad chest was marred, most showing cracks with some appearing to have entirely been destroyed from the force of her attack.

Both dragons looked at each other in surprise, neither of them having truly expected the outcome of the short exchange.

Eventually though the older dragon spoke up, some actual respect now in his voice. "Well I’ll be damned, you managed to overpower my breath. And what in the Wilds is your element girl? Iv never seen something so destructive before."

Violet felt a smile creep onto her face as her nerves began to settle and a bubble of pride began to form in her chest. "Void, I use the void as my element." She explained simply.

"You managed to attain that broken power?" The dragon sounded genuinely confused as he stared at Violet with obvious interest now. "Just who are you?" He asked.

Violet stood up straight, locking her gaze with the red dragon before her. "I am Violet. The Last Wild Dragon and daughter of Moraznia the Dragon Princess."

Something changed in the red dragons posture when he heard Violet’s proclamation. A look of both shock and recognition coloured his face, then he lowered himself to his knees and bowed his large head as he spoke in a solemn tone.

"I, Virthrax the red, greet thee, Violet of the void, daughter of Moraznia. Long has it been since I last heard that name, long has it been since I failed her." He paused then to look up into Violet’s now confused eyes. "I will aid you in your task Violet. Just say the word and I shall do my all to help."
