Chapter 569: When it comes to being cunning, who can outdo him?
When he saw her staring at a box, he impulsively reached to help her thinking she wanted to take it out.
"Do you want to open it?" Qin Nanyu asked softly, holding the box.
Ji Weitian snapped back to reality, hastily threw the blanket and pillow onto the bed, turned around, took the box from him, and carefully checked it to make sure everything was fine before she breathed a sigh of relief.
Initially, Qin Nanyu hadn’t cared much about what was inside the box, but seeing how concerned she was stirred his curiosity.
"Your little treasury?"
Yaoyao had a little treasury at four years old, and Qin Nanyu didn’t doubt she had learned that from Ji Weitian.
He was indeed curious about what she kept in her little treasury.
"It’s not what you think, just some old stuff," Ji Weitian replied dismissively.
After she spoke, she didn’t give Qin Nanyu a chance to probe further, turned around, and placed it back in the wardrobe and closed the door.
Qin Nanyu’s bed was already made.
Ji Weitian handed him the pillow and blanket, signaling that he could go to sleep.
Whether Qin Nanyu slept or not, she didn’t care, she crawled into the bed, closed her eyes, and simply said goodnight.
This change in her demeanour was clearly an attempt to avoid the issue.
Qin Nanyu had struggled all night, finally managing to move into her room, and he didn’t want to annoy her and risk being thrown out. After careful consideration, he chose obediently to lie down on the bedding she had prepared for him.
The mattress was thick and wide enough; indeed, it was much more comfortable than sleeping on the living room sofa.
But compared to her bed, it seemed to be lacking slightly...
"Ji Weitian, are you asleep?" Qin Nanyu suddenly spoke.
"..."
There was no response.
Ji Weitian wasn’t asleep; that box had simply brought back some memories, and she didn’t know how to face Qin Nanyu for the moment.
In the pitch-black room, one person was in bed, and the other was on the floor.
Both were awake, staring at the ceiling unconsciously.
Qin Nanyu couldn’t sleep because he wanted to change his sleeping position.
Ji Weitian couldn’t sleep, guardedly thinking Qin Nanyu might take advantage of her sleeping to do something mischievous.
Thus, two very tired people didn’t sleep at all.
After a long while, the room suddenly filled with a rustling sound.
Having received no response, Qin Nanyu got up from the bed.
Ji Weitian wasn’t asleep; from the moment she heard the noise, she had tensed up, thinking if he dared to make a wrong move, she would kick him out and send him packing, luggage included!
But she didn’t rush to do anything; after all, he might have just gotten up to go to the bathroom.
It was only when she noticed Qin Nanyu sitting by her bed that her brows tightened, waiting for him to crawl under her blanket to turn on the light. The next moment, she heard his pleasant voice near her ear.
"Goodnight, sweet dreams."
Ji Weitian was taken aback, and immediately, in the darkness, a gentle kiss accurately landed on her forehead.
Before she could even react, Qin Nanyu had already left and gone back to his spot.
Moments later, all was calm again.
Ji Weitian slowly sat up, reached for the flashlight, and saw that he was already asleep.
His handsome face turned to one side, his sleeping face enchanting.
The heart she had been holding loosened.
She inwardly scolded herself for suspecting a gentleman of base intentions.
Softly wishing goodnight, she quickly fell asleep too.
Just when everything seemed to settle down, a tall figure silently stood up...
