Chapter 534: Don’t leave me behind!

Qin Nanyu hung up the phone and finished all the food on the small dining table when Ji Weitian arrived with a bag of fruit from outside.

Seeing that he had eaten, she put the fruit aside and helped him clean up the food containers.

"I forgot to ask what kind of fruit you wanted to eat, so I picked a few high in vitamins myself. Do you want kiwi or oranges? Or, should I peel an apple for you?"

Ji Weitian asked this suddenly after she had put away the containers.

Her expression and demeanor had regained the calmness that Qin Nanyu had predicted.

She looked just the same as when she had first arrived.

If there was anything different, it seemed that she was not so disgusted with him anymore.

Qin Nanyu wasn’t picky.

Whatever she fed him, he would eat.

When he saw Ji Weitian turn to wash the apple, his enchanting pupils twinkle slightly, and he squinted his eyes.

She raised the apple in her hand and shoved it directly into his mouth, telling him to stop speaking.

Seeing him wanting to work on his computer after a full meal, Ji Weitian switched off his laptop and demanded forcefully, "You need to rest."

The doctor had said that his workload was too intense and that he needed proper rest to recover.

"I can’t sleep alone," Qin Nanyu said obediently, looking at her with puppy dog eyes.

Ji Weitian almost instinctively said, "Mommy will accompany you."

Then she snapped back to reality, realizing he was not her son, and her face instantly turned cold, "Whether you can sleep or not, you have to sleep. If you don’t rest well, your body won’t recover quickly. Close your eyes, I’ll turn off the light for you."

She did as she said, stretching out her hand and with a snap, turned off the bedside lamp.

The hospital room instantly turned dark, lit only by a dim nightlight that was casting a faint glow.

Ji Weitian didn’t rush to leave; she just sat at the edge of Qin Nanyu’s bed.

The room darkened suddenly, and she couldn’t see Qin Nanyu’s reaction. Once her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she clearly saw him roll over and stare straight at her.

As if he was worried that if he blinked, she would leave.

Ji Weitian’s mind suddenly replayed the scene when they first had a confrontation in the lab.

He was drunk that time.

Insisting on grabbing her, he wouldn’t let her go.

He ended up stubbornly dragging her to sleep on the floor for an entire night.

Back then, he also lacked a sense of security, perpetually holding her hand and begging her not to leave, not to abandon him.
