Addicted to My Cutie and Sweetie

Chapter 533: What Exactly is She Hiding?

Chapter 533: What Exactly is She Hiding?

But if she really agreed to Qin Nanyu’s request and waited for the paternity test results, she would have to face another problem.

The more the Qin Family liked Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling, the higher the possibility Qin Nanyu would fight her for custody of their daughter.

She couldn’t let that happen.

"I can agree to have Yaoyao act along with you to soothe your grandfather, but can we skip the paternity test since we already know the answer?" Ji Weitian proposed.

"My grandfather is insistent on a DNA report now; if we don’t do it, he won’t be convinced," Qin Nanyu stubbornly insisted on this point.

Glancing at Ji Weitian’s face that had turned somewhat pale in an instant, his dark eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze upon her becoming deep.

His lips parted slightly.

"If you are so sure Yaoyao is not my biological daughter, doing or not doing the paternity test wouldn’t matter much, so why do you care so much?"

"Who said I cared? I’m just worried that Yaoyao likes you too much. She has always seen you as her father. Taking her to do a DNA test now might give her false hopes. When the results come out, Yaoyao will be very disappointed."

In a moment of desperation, Ji Weitian could only use her daughter as a shield.

Qin Nanyu might not care about other things, but given his affection for Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling, he wouldn’t ignore his daughter’s feelings.

As soon as Ji Weitian’s words left her mouth, his expression did turn hesitant.

Though he didn’t relent and say they wouldn’t do it, he also didn’t insist further.

It seemed he had temporarily given up on the idea.

Ji Weitian secretly breathed a sigh of relief and pushed the lunch box in front of him.

"You better hurry up and eat before the food gets cold. I’ll go downstairs and buy you some fruit."

Ji Weitian moved quickly, not giving Qin Nanyu a chance to stop her, and turned to leave the hospital room.

Assured she would return, Qin Nanyu calmly began eating.

It wasn’t until he saw her figure disappear through the door that Qin Nanyu slowly lifted his head and put down his chopsticks.

His handsome face bore an inscrutable expression.

All he could picture was Ji Weitian’s anxious demeanor just moments before.

Her eyes, even, couldn’t look directly at him, constantly darting around.

That was the instinctive reaction of someone feeling guilty.

But all they had talked about was doing a paternity test, whose outcomes were already known, to soothe his grandfather who was desperate for a great-granddaughter.

Ji Weitian had no reason to be so panicked unless she was hiding something!

Her rush to leave wasn’t really to buy him fruit but probably to find a place to compose herself.

By the time she returned, he probably wouldn’t be able to get anything out of her.

It seemed the only way to get an answer would be from the DNA report...

Qin Nanyu pushed away the small dining table in front of him, got up from the hospital bed, and walked to the door of the room, gently turning the knob.

As he expected, Ji Weitian hadn’t gone far; she was standing in the corridor near the elevator, her slender body leaning against the wall, holding her phone, seemingly making a call.

She looked somewhat panicked.

Qin Nanyu didn’t go out but instead retreated back into the room.

His deep black eyes, shrouded with an indecipherable light.

He stood at the door for a long time, then turned back to the bed, picked up the phone on the bedside table, and called his assistant.

His deep voice slowly rose.

"You arrange it personally; I want to do a paternity test with Yaoyao!"
