Chapter 505 80: Undersea Abyss

Chapter 505 80: Undersea Abyss

The target was chosen as the [Undersea Abyss], which surprised Yan Luo a little.

To be honest, he didn't know much about this Abyss.

The few entrances and exits of the Undersea Abyss are all located underwater, specifically beneath the surfaces of the Four Oceans, with each ocean having an entrance.

The monsters in this Abyss are all aquatic creatures. Yan Luo could recognize about fifty percent of them, while the rest were completely unknown to him.

The Undersea Abyss is the least understood Abyss by Yan Luo. He could memorize maps of the other Abysses, but the Undersea Abyss, being an ocean, left him incapable of familiarizing himself with its layout.

Moreover, the Undersea Abyss is not as easily destroyed as the other Abysses.

To destroy other Abysses, one only needs to disrupt the environment and continuously kill the monsters inside. However, the Undersea Abyss is an ocean, with very few islands on the surface. Under normal circumstances, Hunters entering the Undersea Abyss must pilot a submarine, and the weapons and armor they use are specially designed for underwater combat.

Since humans live on land, most of the weapons they develop can only be used on the surface. Underwater weapons are scarce, and their power is not very impressive.

Hunters in the Undersea Abyss typically lure monsters to open their mouths, throwing bombs inside to detonate them internally for maximum damage.

For this reason, in the Undersea Abyss, even hunters of Sequence Three are weaker than City-breaking Level monsters, as human power is limited underwater.

To deal with this Abyss, the United Government established underwater cities near several entrances and exits, where no open water sources are allowed.

As soon as aquatic monsters swim out of the Abyss entrances, they enter a dry, moisture-free area where, despite their immense power in the Abyss, their physiological structures render them unable to survive, leading them to asphyxiate and die slowly.

Were it not for this clever design, the monsters of the Undersea Abyss would have long since invaded the Blue Star's oceans.

Although the target has been set as the [Undersea Abyss], Yan Luo did not set off immediately.

He had just resolved one Abyss, and his spirit was somewhat fatigued, requiring a few days of rest.

Fortunately, although Yan Luo was only spiritually tired, his body remained quite robust, able to handle Sasa and Wang Lingyu.

Yan Luo rested on the No.2 Crimson for five days. On the morning of the sixth day, he greeted Sasa and Wang Lingyu, who were lying limp on the bed, and left the No.2 Crimson for No. 2 Undersea.

The No. 2 Undersea exploration town is located in the Pacific Ocean. Yan Luo just needed to reach the marked spot on the map and then continuously dive to reach No. 2 Undersea.

This exploration town was very different from the others because other towns required at least ten thousand residents to spread the magic power within the town.

However, the exploration towns surrounding the entrances and exits of the Undersea Abyss didn't require such hassle.

The ocean is full of aquatic creatures; their movements disperse the magic power entering the ocean. Hence, these few underwater cities are the only exploration towns on Blue Star inhabited solely by Hunters.

There are no ordinary residents here, nor are there any supporting facilities for Hunters.

These underwater cities are like submarines, causing intense psychological strain for the Hunters residing there.

Fortunately, although there are no supporting facilities, the food portions have not been reduced. If one is really in a hurry, there are sex dolls available for use.

Yan Luo descended rapidly, soon sighting No. 2 Undersea.

This underwater city bore some resemblance to the "Dragon Palace" from television.

A semi-transparent protective dome appeared like an overturned bowl above No. 2 Undersea, with hazy views through it revealing city structures resembling toys.

Unlike the domes of other cities, which could be pierced with a bit of effort, the domes of the underwater exploration towns could withstand nuclear blasts and resist attacks even from City-breaking level mutant creatures without being penetrated.

Because of this, Hunters in the Undersea Abyss could reside comfortably within the exploration town.

The Undersea Abyss is also the least populated Abyss by Hunters since not everyone can overcome deep-sea fear. Many people feel weak at the knees, just watching promotional clips of the Undersea Abyss, let alone entering it.

No. 2 Undersea has over a thousand Hunters, about a fifth of those in No. 2 Crimson.

Even the most populated No. 4 Undersea has never exceeded two thousand Hunters.

Despite so many harsh conditions, the only reason so many Hunters operated in the Undersea Abyss was that it was extremely profitable!

Unfortunately, this profitable Abyss was about to disappear.

Hunters in the Undersea Abyss could only hunt there for shorter periods compared to other Abysses because combat with monsters inevitably caused some damage to their vehicles.

In other Abysses, if the vehicle got damaged, Hunters could still choose to walk. But in the Undersea Abyss, if a vehicle breaks down, immobility means little hope of making it back to the exploration town alive.

Swimming is exhausting, especially when all four entrances of the Undersea Abyss lie within the ocean instead of those scattered islands on the sea surface.

Therefore, upon arriving at No. 2 Undersea, Yan Luo still needed to wait several days until all the Hunters exited the Undersea Abyss before he could start his plan to destroy the entire Abyss.

During this time, Yan Luo could carefully consider how to destroy the entire Undersea Abyss without killing the Master of the Abyss.

...

Days passed, and in no time, ten days had gone by since Yan Luo arrived at No. 2 Undersea.

During these ten days, Hunters exited the Undersea Abyss one after another, receiving notifications from the Hunter's Guild upon leaving.

When they found out the Undersea Abyss was about to be destroyed, many Hunters were anxious and wanted to question the Hunter's Guild.

Hunting in the Undersea Abyss was truly profitable, incomparable to other Abysses.

In other Abysses, Hunters had to compete with peers, but the vast space and abundant monsters in the Undersea Abyss meant even if a person managed an area with a ten-kilometer radius, the combined Hunters couldn't fill it.

Without competition from peers and with few Hunters operating in the Undersea Abyss, its rare materials led to highly lucrative hunting.

The Undersea Abyss had not reached a level needing elimination, so why destroy it?

Hunters from all exploration towns near the Undersea Abyss entrances pressured the local Hunter's Guild presidents to postpone the Abyss's destruction.

Unfortunately, the decision to destroy the Undersea Abyss wasn't theirs, nor did they have the authority to cancel the abyss-strategy campaign.

Unwilling to bear the blame, the presidents revealed the truth.

While Hunters were still shocked by Yan Luo's plans, Yan Luo had already entered the Undersea Abyss.

A seemingly fragile portal separated Blue Star from the Abyss as Yan Luo passed through the entrance, moving from dry land to the ocean.

The entrance was in deep sea, where light couldn't penetrate the thick water to this depth.

Surrounding darkness engulfed him, but Yan Luo had prepared ahead.

He turned on the light on his goggles, illuminating his surroundings.

However, the light dissipated into darkness after a dozen meters.

Gazing around, Yan Luo did not immediately proceed with the Abyss destruction plan.

He took out the jade pendant, attempting to open a space portal with a Magic Crystal.

— It worked!

The other end of the space portal led to an unknown world, but Yan Luo could see water there too.

Since the space portal could be opened, things would be easier!

Yan Luo no longer had to worry about being trapped by the collapsing Abyss; he could escape to another place.

Regardless of what's on the other side, as long as he could avoid the repercussions of spatial collapse, he could survive and find a way back to Blue Star.

Of course, he might not need to resort to this; it was just a backup plan.
