Chapter 170 : Give Yourself As Gift
Chapter 170 : Give Yourself As Gift
Su Yun racked her brain, but after five whole minutes, all she could muster was a weak “Mm…” She slumped over the desk in frustration, resting her head on her arms.
They were together every day, and yet she didn’t even know what the other person liked.
How could that be considered love? At best, it was probably just being seduced by looks.
Su Yun buried her face deeper into her arms, nearly going crazy with the thought.
But the moment she closed her eyes, what came flooding back were all the scenes of the other person teasing her.
“Xiaoyun, don’t run~”
“You’re so cute.”
“Xiaoyun, I love everything you cook.”
“Xiaoyun…”
Those were the kinds of scenes Qin Xiao had mentioned liking—they all involved her.
Su Yun was at a loss. She couldn’t exactly wrap herself up and present herself as a gift, could she?
That didn’t count as a real gift… Anyway, all the videos she watched showed girls expecting their boyfriends to give them expensive and pretty accessories.
Otherwise, why would so many bouquets get thrown in the trash on Valentine’s Day?
(Note: Su Yun barely used a phone before college and had almost no interaction with girls, so she doesn’t understand these things.)
Would their relationship suffer if she didn’t prepare a gift?
Just imagining Qin Xiao walking away made Su Yun’s expression turn pitiful.
“I should ask a real girl for advice.”
She tiptoed back to the bedroom. Fortunately, the person on the bed was still fast asleep.
Sister Xue was still sleeping—thank goodness.
Su Yun quickly circled around the bed and gently lifted the phone from the small cabinet.
Once she returned to the living room, she began thinking about who to ask.
“Qin Xin… no, not her. She says weird things.”
Because of Qin Xin’s strange behavior, even Qin Xuanxuan—the usually serious and earnest maid—was mistakenly classified by Su Yun as a secretly twisted pervert.
“Then… Xia Rou?” The image of a sweet and innocent girl-next-door popped into Su Yun’s mind.
Uh… but that girl might tell me to gift her finger sleeves. For the sake of health, of course… Never mind, next!
Su Yun started scrolling through her WeChat contacts.
“Qin Yuanyuan… no, Zhou Yiyi… also no…”
Unfortunately, out of all the girls in her contacts, there wasn’t a single one she found suitable.
“Why are all the girls around me so weird?” Su Yun drooped her head.
If it were before college, she definitely would’ve asked Baidu. Back then, she hadn’t even held a girl’s hand, let alone asked for gift advice.
But now, even with so many decent female friends, she still ended up in the same boat.
“Guess I’ll just ask Baidu again…”
Su Yun slumped onto the table with her chin resting on it, looking utterly defeated.
But just then, a calm and mature woman flashed through her mind.
“Zhou Yiyi’s older sister!”
That woman was even going to be teaching at Su Yun’s school in a few months.
She was a normal girl. Definitely!
Like someone grabbing onto a life-saving rope, Su Yun straightened up and leaned against the back of the chair. Then she sent a WeChat message to her.
(Teacher, are you there? I wanted to ask something.)
She stared at the screen, quietly waiting.
It was almost noon. Surely the teacher was awake by now?
The only question was… would she respond?
“Ding ling!”
To her surprise, the phone chimed soon after.
She looked at the screen excitedly.
(Ms. Zhou: What’s the question? Go ahead.)
Without hesitation, Su Yun quickly typed out her message.
(I want to prepare a gift for a friend. A girl.)
(We’re pretty close, and recently it’s been a meaningful time for both of us.)
(But I don’t know what to give…)
This time, there was an obvious pause from the other side.
Even though the chat window showed “The other person is typing,” no reply came for a long while.
(Ms. Zhou: …)
(Ms. Zhou: I thought you were going to ask something study-related.)
Upon reading that, Su Yun lit up inside like a little animal—she nearly jumped out of her chair.
At the same time, she also felt a bit embarrassed and nervous. Of course… a teacher probably wouldn’t be willing to answer these kinds of personal questions.
Just as she was about to give up, another message came through.
(Ms. Zhou: This friend you’re talking about, it’s probably that girl who sleeps with you, right?)
(???)
(Ms. Zhou: The one who came with you last time.)
(Yes… How did you know…?)
Su Yun was stunned. She hadn’t even mentioned Qin Xue’s name.
(It’s not like I never check my phone.)
“Eh!?” Before Su Yun could process what that meant, the entire screen was overtaken by the incoming video call.
With trembling hands, she accepted the call.
Soon, a mature and composed woman appeared on the screen.
Her jet-black eyes stared directly at Su Yun, scanning her intently.
Although Zhou Yuyu was about to start teaching at the university, she wasn’t that much older than Zhou Yiyi—probably only around twenty-six.
Even so, her looks were no less stunning than her sister’s. It wasn’t hard to imagine how popular she must’ve been back in college: a cold, aloof beauty loved by many, and academically brilliant to boot.
Being stared at like that made Su Yun feel extremely shy.
“You just woke up, huh?”
“Mm…” Su Yun immediately nodded upon hearing that calm, chilly voice.
“You’re thinking about this first thing in the morning—was it her request?” Her voice turned even colder.
“No, I just wanted to give her something myself…”
“And… if I don’t give her anything, it might affect our relationship. I don’t want that to happen. I… I don’t want us to grow distant.”
Upon hearing that, Zhou Yuyu’s brows furrowed slightly—but then she relaxed.
“I don’t think it will. You’re overthinking it.”
“Really…? Then should I buy some expensive accessories? What kind should I go for?”
Despite Zhou Yuyu’s reassuring words, Su Yun clearly hadn’t taken them to heart.
“It’s clear you’re a serious student, Su Xiaoyun.”
“Huh?” Su Yun blinked, even more confused now.
“We haven’t interacted much, but I can more or less guess what your friend is thinking.”
“Huh???”
And so, as Su Yun stared in confusion, Zhou Yuyu began describing the kind of gift she should give.
Her judgment was based on the following:
First, the way Qin Xue reacted with anger when someone else got close to Su Yun—she clearly wanted to monopolize her.
Second, the joint social media post they made the previous night.
Third, the fact that the two slept together every night.
That terrifying possessiveness sent a chill down Zhou Yuyu’s spine.
But because of that, picking a gift actually became incredibly simple.
“You should wrap yourself up in a gift box and give yourself to her,” Zhou Yuyu said calmly.
Her steady, composed voice made it sound like the most natural suggestion in the world—especially since she was a teacher at Su Yun’s school.
“I’ll try… Wait, what? Teacher, what did you just say? I didn’t catch that.”
Su Yun couldn’t believe what she’d just heard, so she asked again.
“You. Wrap yourself in a gift box. Give yourself to her,” Zhou Yuyu patiently repeated.
“M-Me?! How is that even considered a gift?”
Su Yun froze completely. Her wide, adorable eyes blinked blankly at the screen.
“I can’t do that.” Once it sank in, she shook her head rapidly like a bobblehead.
