Chapter 1779 - 404: The Heart’s Longing; Regal Arrival (Part 1)_2
The door suddenly opened from the inside, and Yan Xing stumbled in, unexpectedly colliding into Kang Qi’s chest. She awkwardly looked up and saw the teenager’s cold and distant chin, with his deep, jet-black eyes.
She coughed once and hurriedly stepped back: "If you didn’t come out, I was going to go in and find you...."
The early morning sunlight fell at his feet, and the teenage boy was filled with a sense of loneliness and solitude. Yan Xing suddenly felt a pang of heartache, "What’s wrong with you?"
Kang Qi looked at the girl in front of him, sunlight glistening over her shoulders, her smile was even brighter than the sun, as if it could dispel all darkness...it was something the heart yearned for.
His heart gave an uncontrollable throb, and his fists clenched tightly under his sleeves. He suddenly brushed past Yan Xing and left hurriedly, as if something fierce was chasing him.
"Hey, why are you running so fast? Wait for me...." Yan Xing jogged to catch up.
"After I take you to Hanshan Temple and you meet your second sister, we should go our separate ways." Kang Qi suddenly said.
Yan Xing was taken aback and quickly ran over to grab his arm: "What do you mean? Are you going to abandon me?"
Kang Qi looked at the hand holding his arm and brushed it off mercilessly, "I only took you in out of pity, did you really think you could rely on me?"
Yan Xing panicked and grabbed his hand: "You already agreed to be my boyfriend, how can you say this? I don’t care, I’m sticking with you."
Kang Qi turned to leave, and Yan Xing missed his embrace, her mouth pouting in grievance.
"You’ve seen my family; how could someone of my background be suitable for a young heiress like you? I’m very busy and don’t have time to entertain you. We come from two different worlds...."
"I don’t care." Yan Xing shouted: "Kang Qi, stop right there."
She ran in a hurry, and stepping on a pebble, she fell hard, kissing the ground and burst into tears from the pain.
Kang Qi paused his steps but didn’t turn back, continuing to walk forward.
Seeing him so resolved, Yan Xing’s cries pierced the sky, heart-rending.
Kang Qi let out a sigh and turned back.
"Why so careless?" He bent down to help her up, Yan Xing fell into his arms, clinging tightly to his waist, pouting: "You’re not allowed to leave."
Kang Qi felt a softness in his heart, looked down at her and said helplessly: "Let me see where you got hurt?"
Her elbows and knees were scraped, especially her knee, bruised and blood trickling down her calf.
Yan Xing scrunched up her little nose in grievance: "It hurts...."
Kang Qi glanced at her, squatting down: "I’ll carry you, let’s get you bandaged first, and then we’ll head to Han Mountain."
Yan Xing immediately beamed with joy and leapt onto his back, almost causing Kang Qi to stumble.
Yan Xing wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, "You’re not allowed to abandon me, anyway."
Kang Qi shook his head helplessly, rescuing her from the trouble.
Kang Qi first took her to the nearest clinic to get her wounds bandaged. Yan Xing feigned weakness, unable to walk, and stayed on Kang Qi’s back the whole time.
"I’m hungry, let’s eat."
Kang Qi relented and carried her to the city’s morning market for breakfast. The small street vendors had basic conditions, selling fish, shrimp, and vegetables nearby, the air was filled with the hustle and bustle of life.
Yan Xing curiously looked around, "I’ve never eaten in a place like this before, my mom says it’s not clean...."
Seeing Kang Qi’s somewhat rigid expression, she playfully stuck out her tongue, "My mom’s just particular, but I think it’s nice. This is real life, haha...."
Yan Xing took a big bun, stuffing her mouth until it puffed up, and mumbled: "It’s good...."
Seeing her like this, Kang Qi laughed: "Slow down, no one’s going to steal it from you, be careful not to choke."
Yan Xing rolled her eyes, hitting her chest with her little fists, and rolled her eyes desperately.
Seeing her choke, Kang Qi placed his hand on her back, giving a few hard pats.
"Cough cough...." Yan Xing bent over, spitting out the contents in her mouth, she turned and glared at him fiercely: "Jinx."
Kang Qi replied helplessly: "I told you to eat slowly, so how is it my fault?"
"If it’s not your fault, whose fault is it? It’s all your fault." Yan Xing complained while muttering, taking another bun, and this time, she learned her lesson, taking small bites.
At this moment, a group of people swaggered over, the crowd scattered like startled birds and beasts. Yan Xing widened her eyes in confusion: "Who are they? Such a big display?"
Kang Qi’s face darkened, dropping his chopsticks to pull Yan Xing away.
"Hey, who is this, I thought you went to the Capital City for college? Why are you back? Is this girl your new flame?"
