Yan Xing instinctively crossed her arms and took a step back, glaring warily at the woman in front of her.
Kang Qi strode in, grabbed Yan Xing’s hand, and walked away without glancing at the woman even once.

"You won’t get far..." the woman’s laughter echoed from behind.

Yan Xing turned her head to look towards the bedroom, the woman had changed into home clothes, quickly removed her makeup – instantly aging several years.
"You... hurry out, I’ll wait for you." Her expression was one of fear that the woman would bully Kang Qi.
Kang Qi nodded.
Yan Xing walked out, turning her head back at every step.
"Your little girlfriend?" The woman emerged, a cigarette in her mouth, smiling insincerely as she asked.
Kang Qi walked over and opened the window a crack for ventilation.
"She seems to come from a good family, hmm... judging by the accent, she’s from the Capital City. Looks like you’ve snagged a rich second generation, so now Mom can rest easy. But, Mom kindly reminds you, people like us aren’t qualified to experience true love, so before the little girl’s family objects, you should get as much as you can, lest you end up with nothing at all...."
*Bang* A beer bottle next to Kang Qi’s foot fell to the ground, producing a crisp, harsh sound.
The young man’s lips pressed thinly, his eyes deep and dark, his entire being teetering on the edge.
"Have you said enough?" His voice was cold as ice.
