Chapter 191: It’s hard not to be moved by him

Mu Yan changed her clothes and went downstairs, only to see the kitchen light on.

She entered the kitchen and saw Jiang Jingheng washing vegetables.

She walked over and said, "Let me do it."

She couldn’t let him do it every time; after all, he was the famous Young Master Jiang from Upper City.

Jiang Jingheng glanced at her, "Are you questioning my words?"

"Hmm?"

"If you dare to cook, I’ll demolish the kitchen!"

Mu Yan, "..."

Does the kitchen have a grudge against you?

She remembered the last time he said that when she cut her hand with a knife.

Since then, he forbade her from cooking. Could it be... he’s afraid she’ll get hurt?

Her heart was stirred as she looked at his handsome profile, a sense of anticipation growing inside her.

"Help me with the apron, my hands are wet," Jiang Jingheng suddenly said.

Mu Yan noticed he was wearing light-colored home clothes, which could easily get dirty.

She opened the cupboard above and took out an apron.

Jiang Jingheng looked at her, his hands still dripping water, placed at his sides.

Mu Yan opened the apron, walked up to him, and said, "Lower your head a little."

Jiang Jingheng complied and lowered his head.

Mu Yan raised her hands to hang the apron around his neck, her eyes inadvertently meeting his gaze.

If she raised her head just a little more, she could kiss him.

His warm breath brushed against her face, and the air was filled with his scent; her face flushed instantly.

Her heart was racing like a deer in the headlights.

She quickly lowered her head, walked behind him, and hurriedly tied the strings.

After she finished, she left with a quick "I’m heading out first" and dashed out of the kitchen.

Jiang Jingheng watched her leave, a slight smile on his lips.

Not long after, the food was ready—three dishes and a soup.

Braised pork ribs, green pepper beef strips, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and a tomato egg soup.

Mu Yan felt especially hungry today and quickly finished her bowl of rice.

Jiang Jingheng chuckled, "Is my cooking that good?"

Mu Yan pressed her lips, "Yeah, and it’s not often one gets to eat Young Master Jiang’s cooking."

Jiang Jingheng’s lips curved slightly, "If you want, I can cook for you every day."

Mu Yan was momentarily stunned, looking at him with some disbelief.

Was he serious or not? Wasn’t it said that he only cooks for someone he loves?

She wasn’t his loved one.

Her heart fluttered slightly; could she just allow herself to be mistaken?

But maybe, as he had said before, he’s cooking for himself, and she was just tagging along.

Mu Yan suddenly felt a bit unsettled and got up to refill her rice, but Jiang Jingheng stopped her.

"There’s no more rice, have some soup instead."

Mu Yan felt a little disappointed and could only drink the soup.

After dinner, Mu Yan took the initiative to clean up the dishes.

Returning to the kitchen, she discovered that the rice cooker still had half a pot of rice.

She looked at Jiang Jingheng who followed her in, "Didn’t you say there wasn’t enough rice?"

Jiang Jingheng glanced at the rice cooker and said calmly, "I must have remembered wrong."

Mu Yan, "..."

Can such a thing be remembered wrongly?

A thought suddenly popped into her head, and she blurted out, "Could it be you’re afraid I’ll eat too much and won’t be able to sleep tonight?"

"Hmm." Jiang Jingheng did not deny it and walked straight to the sink to wash the dishes.

Mu Yan stood there watching him, suddenly at a loss for words.

He was good-looking, a great cook, considerate, warm-hearted, and rich, even looking handsome while washing dishes—a perfect man!

What to do, if this goes on, she’ll definitely fall for him.

But does he like her?

"Why are you still standing here? Go upstairs to shower and sleep." Jiang Jingheng suddenly looked over, seeing Mu Yan staring at him, dazed.

Mu Yan snapped out of it and quickly said, "Okay."

She turned and walked out.

Jiang Jingheng watched the doorway, his eyes deepening; she didn’t quite seem shy.

After a shower, Mu Yan exited the bathroom, her gaze falling on the sunflowers on the bedside table.

Excluding the two times Jiang Jingheng gave them to her, she hadn’t seen sunflowers for a long time.

To be precise, since her hand couldn’t paint anymore, she didn’t need them as subjects.

But seeing them now, she didn’t feel the slightest resistance.

Mom said she should live like a sunflower, facing the sun, to live life to the fullest.

Not including the past four years, she should now be living up to Mom’s expectations, right?

Thinking of someone, she suddenly smiled, kissed a petal, and said, "Good night, Miss Sunflower!"
