Chapter 649 - 649
Chapter 649 - 649
Originally thought Dirk Carter wanted to figure out the layout of the government office.
Bradford Lewis pointed to the very end of the corridor and said, "Look, that's the Secretary-General's office, the new Secretary-General hasn't arrived yet, but I heard they'll be here in the next couple of days. There's a dedicated elevator for the leadership over there, and they usually don't need to come through our side."
Dirk Carter nodded.
Then walked toward the end of the corridor.
Bradford Lewis saw this.
He grabbed Dirk's hand and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Just going to take a look."
Dirk Carter replied.
Bradford Lewis said, exasperatedly, "How can you be so clueless? That's the leaders' office. Is that a place we should be going? Hurry back to the office and wait. When Supervisor Newhart comes, you can go find him directly."
The Supervisor he was referring to was Irvine Newhart.
The Supervisor of the Personnel and Administrative Section of the government office.
Equivalent to the office manager handling miscellaneous tasks in other units.
Considering checking out his own office,
Dirk Carter thought that since he didn't have a key yet,
he might as well listen to Bradford's advice and followed him into the conference section office.
The office was not big, with about six desks.
Bradford Lewis found a chair for Dirk to sit in and even poured him a glass of water.
Just as he settled down,
he heard the sound of high heels at the door.
Then, a woman walked in gracefully.
The woman looked to be about twenty-five or twenty-six.
She wore a flamboyant dress, had a bag on her arm, and wore light makeup.
Her figure wasn't evident, but her looks were around a seven out of ten.
All in all, she was a beauty.
As soon as he saw her, Bradford Lewis stood up cheerfully and ingratiatingly said, "Gina, you're here so early, why not rest a little longer? Hot? I have a drink prepared for you."
After saying that,
he pulled out a drink wrapped in a towel from his bag and handed it to the woman.
The woman sat down arrogantly at the workstation opposite Bradford, glanced at the drink, and said, "Just leave it there."
"Sure, Gina, do you need me to open it for you?"
"No need, I can open it myself."
She said as she set her bag down, an impatient expression on her face.
"Gina, I bought two movie tickets for tonight, do you want to catch a movie together?"
Bradford took out two tickets from his pocket and asked.
Gina took the tickets from Bradford's hand, looked at them, and said, "I'll keep the tickets, but I won't watch the movie with you. I'll go with others, and you just need to get me two cups of milk tea."
"Sure, sure, you go, I won't go."
Seeing her take the tickets, Bradford was grinning from ear to ear.
Dirk Carter was taken aback too.
He said loudly, "Brad, so you're really a simp, huh?"
That comment instantly caught Gina's attention.
Bradford got anxious.
Waving his hands frantically at Dirk, signaling him to shut up.
Gina glanced disdainfully at Dirk and asked Bradford, "Who is he?"
"The new guy, not very tactful, doesn't speak well."
Bradford said with a grin.
Gina suddenly understood.
She said, "Oh, no wonder. If you can't speak properly, just keep your mouth shut. Don't you know what this place is? Not everything that comes to mind can be spoken."
"I'm just stating the facts, you aren't interested in Brad, but you still take what he offers. Doesn't that make him a simp?"
Dirk Carter retorted.
Bradford wasn't mad, but Gina was furious.
She picked up the folder on the desk and hurled it at Dirk. Fortunately, Dirk reacted quickly and dodged by leaning back.
He laughed, "What? Hit a nerve, did I?"
"Damn it, no one in the government office dares speak to me like this! A newcomer dares to be so impudent. Bradford Lewis, slap him for me."
Gina commanded.
Bradford looked troubled and said, "This isn't right, is it?"
"What do you mean not right? If I say slap, you slap. If anything happens, I'll take responsibility. If you don't do it, I won't talk to you from now on."
Gina fumed.
Dirk Carter sneered.
He said, "Really didn't expect there to be a princess like you in the government office. Did I say anything wrong? You don't like Brad and yet take whatever he offers, you're the definition of a manipulative b*tch."
"I'm furious, I'm furious! Bradford Lewis, if you don't hit him, I'll do it myself!"
With that,
she turned around, grabbed the broom from the corner,
and swung it at Dirk Carter.
"I advise you not to do anything reckless, or you'll regret it later!"
Dirk Carter warned upon seeing this.
Gina, being headstrong and ignoring all advice, swung the broom at Dirk.
Dirk dodged quickly.
She didn't hit him.
Instead, she shattered a computer screen on the desk.
"What's all this noise? Are you rebelling?"
Just then, a loud reprimand came from the doorway.
Everyone was startled.
Gina quickly tossed the broom away.
Turning around, she saw a middle-aged man standing sternly at the door.
"Supervisor Newhart."
Both Gina and Bradford Lewis shouted simultaneously.
Dirk Carter understood then that the middle-aged man must be Irvine Newhart, the head of the Personnel and Administrative Section.
Irvine Newhart looked furious.
He said, "Look at yourselves, such behavior, don't you know the new Secretary-General is arriving today? If he sees this, he'll think our government office lacks discipline."
"It was him, he messed up, Supervisor Newhart, look, he even smashed the computer."
Gina suddenly spoke up, pointing at Dirk, accusing him.
Irvine Newhart, upon hearing this, was about to erupt, hurried inside to inspect the screen.
Gina continued, "Supervisor Newhart, it was him, Bradford Lewis saw it too, isn't that right, Bradford?"
In Gina's eyes, Bradford would definitely cover for her.
That's why she dared to speak so unscrupulously.
"Well…um… Gina… no, Supervisor Newhart, I accidentally broke it, Gina, we can't frame the new guy."
Bradford, after all, had a sense of integrity.
Stammered and took all the blame, speaking to Irvine Newhart.
Gina exploded upon hearing this.
She yelled, "Bradford Lewis, are you crazy? Why are you taking the fall for him? From today on, I'm done with you."
That's what crocodile tears are called.
Gina Henderson epitomized it.
As she spoke, her eyes were getting watery.
Irvine Newhart looked at Dirk Carter, unfamiliar with him, and asked, "Who are you?"
Bradford Lewis quickly explained, "Supervisor Newhart, he's new, reporting in today, I bumped into him downstairs and brought him up."
"New? I wasn't informed of anyone new coming."
Irvine Newhart murmured.
Gina Henderson immediately stopped crying upon hearing this.
Pointing at Dirk Carter, she shouted, "Well, how dare you impersonate a government official! Supervisor Newhart, just look at him, he doesn't seem like a decent guy. Quickly, have someone arrest him."
