Chapter 86: Uranium
Chapter 86: Uranium
Marco drove home from 7 Eastbourne Rd with a frown on his face. He couldn’t get over what Mrs. Whitehall told him just minutes ago.
I think he misses her, she said.
And she was absolutely right, Marco thought.
Sam had become not only an intellectual match to Levi but was also capable of stimulating him like no other person could.
Marco couldn’t help but recall all the curious times, he’d seen the two geniuses bonding over the things he or anyone else would most likely not appreciate. Human experiments, homemade explosives, and such.
The two, Samson, as the World knew them, were a couple. They were a pair like Levi and Marco were to the world. But a different kind of pair; Levi and Marco were a contrasting pair.
While, Sam Gray and Levi Jackson, was ’Uranium- 235 and Uranium-238’, as Sam had put before. Marco smiled at that memory, he could still recall the peaceful days in 7 Eastbourne Rd...before all the horror started. Before the attack, the blindness...the suicide.
.....
Sometime months ago
Jackson Detectives Agency
Marco was sitting at his table, looking through his computer. Answering emails as per usual, while the boys were busy with work.
The slicked blond sat on the mustard-colored sofa, legs crossed whilst reading old newspapers. He was trying to find something interesting, a case may be when moments later Sam walked in with a box of chocolate cake in hand.
A shit-eating grin was spread on her face, hair hangs loosely behind her back.
Levi eyed the redhead as she placed the box on the coffee table, "Afternoon boys!" she greeted cheerful.
Levi arched an eyebrow,
"I thought, you’re on a diet," he commented. Knowing full well what was inside the box, simply by its chocolatey scent.
"Afternoon..." Marco, Joe, and Alex unison. It wasn’t unusual for her to drop by the office whenever she pleased.
Levi’s hazel eyes didn’t leave her as she rummaged through the small pantry behind the boys’ table for some small plates and forks.
Sam made her way back to the coffee table,
She glanced at the blond on the sofa,
"That’s what Elle says. Who cares what Elle says?" she says. And she proceeded to slice the cake, grinning widely.
Then she placed a piece on each plate and handed one to each of them a piece. Sam didn’t bother to ask if they wanted some, she knew they wanted some. And she was right.
Joe and Alex were more than happy to take a break from work, maybe stretched their legs and necks. They’ve been on the computer, watching surveillance and phone records for a stalking case that was brought to them 2 weeks ago. The only thing missing then was a fresh batch of tea, so Alex stood and made a pot.
"Thanks," Marco told Sam, taking a bite. He smiles, Boy, it was really good. It was moist and the chocolate wasn’t too sweet like most were.
Joe and Alex turned to Sam and sent her the thumbs up in approval while gobbling the cake.
Marco hummed on his seat,
"This is good," he compliments with a half-eaten slice of cake moments later. Joe and Alex quietly agree.
Sam grins at the boys from her seat across Levi. "Thank you!" She says, earning a raised brow from the bearded man.
Wait, what?
Marco whiplashed towards the redhead, "Oh, you made this?" he asked, surprised. He never imagined her as the baking type, since she was the ’I cut corpses for a living’ kind of woman.
But then again, there’s Janet who looks emo and punk rock, but she makes gingerbread cookies for breakfast and lives with her cat Purrito.
Sam nods proudly in confirmation.
Levi rolled his eyes,
"It’s obvious Marco, just look at her sleeves, and the edges of her hair, it still has traces of flour on it." the slicked blond said, reaching towards her hair and removing some flour on with his fingers.
Sam grinned at his gesture.
"She finally came to Mrs. Whitehall’s baking club," Levi stated, taking a bite of the cake.
Marco frowned, when had Mrs. Whitehall been in a baking club?
He wasn’t aware, he really had been missing a lot lately since he had been working overtime at the clinic. He wanted to save some money for a family vacation.
Sam turned to Levi an expectant look on her face, as she watched him chew and swallow.
"Well?" she asked him, and Marco observed from his seat while the psychologist chewed his food.
Sam broke into a smile at the slicked blond’s lack of complaint, he wasn’t one to shy away from criticizing things after all. Whether it be her or others, Levi didn’t give two shits. However, he doesn’t give out compliments easily either, something she learned after a year of spending time with him. That first time they worked together when he said she was sublime was one of those rare moments.
"You like it." She claimed with a smirk.
"Shut up," Levi replied, causing Marco and Sam to giggle and amuse.
"You should bring Lisa some." Sam offers, "Absolutely. Thank you." Marco says, standing up and getting himself a second slice. He sat back down, and started fiddling with the Agency’s twitter account, they had been receiving a number of tweets from #Samson fans.
One caught his attention, it said;
Dear Dr. Evans,
My name is Allison, I am a huge fan of Mr. Levi Jackson, and after reading some of your tweets on Jackson detectives cases. I have become a fan of Dr. Sam Gray as well. I had decided to create a Fans club, supporting the two’s budding clandestine romance; we have a website if you’d like to check it out.
(Fansite link)
The Club has grown internationally and we are calling it Samson. I and the rest of the fans are curious though, we are aware that the two had never commented on their relationship. We would appreciate it if you send Sam and Levi our love and support. And if possible, ask them to answer our fansite questions.
List of questions:
"who has the weirdest kink?"
"what’s one thing you guys hate about each other?"
"What’s your favorite sex position?"
and more.
Marco frowned at the list of questions. He can’t ask these to the two, it was too personal. Some involved sex, which probably the two don’t have an answer to. One did pass his standard;
it says how would they define their relationship?
Marco shifted to the two conversings casually,
"Hey, guys," he said, Levi ignored him while Sam looked at him with a fork in her mouth.
"Levi." He called.
"What?" Levi answered, not bothering to turn his full attention to him, but it was good enough.
"I’ve got some of your fans--"
"Dubh dóite!" Levi yelled while Sam rolled her eyes at the man’s antics.
She turned to Marco reassuringly, "Don’t mind him," she said, urging him to continue.
"They’ve got a bunch of questions here they want you to answer, but most of them are---well, basically, rubbish. There’s one that I like though." Marco explained.
"Tell them to shut up. Shut up, while you’re at it too." Levi replied, earning a slap on his leg from Sam. Levi jumped at the impact, which both surprised and stung him.
"Thank you," Marco told Sam, while Levi glared at her, muttering something about her violent tendencies.
"What is it?" She asked Marco, curious. "How would they define their relationship?" Marco read it out loud.
Levi groaned, "That’s a borderline imbecile." he scoffed, not wanting to participate.
Sam on the other hand looked thoughtful, a hand on her chin thinking.
"Tell them...Uranium-235 and Uranium-238." Sam said, ignoring Levi’s comment.
Marco’s brows furrowed,
"Sorry?" he asked, not familiar with it. While Levi looked at Sam, a smile playing at the edge of his lips at her description. And she smiled at him widely like she usually does, "You like it, don’t cha?" She teased the psychologist. She took both their plates and stack them on top of the other; ruffling his hair as she walked passed him to put it in the pantry.
"Shut up." He told her. Marco smiled at the two’s exchange, finding the exchange adorable. No wonder people are shipping them, they had chemistry.
Marco typed what Sam said regardless of his unfamiliarity, and asked before he hit send, "what’s that?" He whispered to her when she passed him by before she reached her seat across Levi.
Sam grinned at him,
"Uranium-235 and Uranium-238, are elements that are almost inseparable." She said, ruffling his hair as well before she walked back to her seat. Messing Levi’s hair again on her way back. "Stop that woman!" Levi whined, fixing his slicked hair back into place using his fingers.
Stifling a laugh Marco retyped his reply,
Uranium-235 and Uranium-238; Almost Inseparable.
-Dr. Sam Gray & Levi Jackson
And now, Uranium-235 and Uranium-238 were seperate. What brought them where they were right then, saddened Marco greatly.
Two elements that were never meant to be separated were now divided; isolation corroding each of their states.
One, Uranium-235, mute in a mental institution.
And the other, Uranium-238, Marco worries, might just be on the brink of insanity.
