Zombolution: Unleash the Undying Power

Chapter 96: Meeting Gamma Again

Chapter 96: Meeting Gamma Again

As they navigated the dimly lit corridors of the human camp, urgency marked every step Zorvax and Ophelia took. Amidst the shadows and echoes of their hurried movements, a shared determination bound them together. Yet, within Ophelia, a question lingered, its weight growing heavier with each passing moment.

Finally, unable to hold back any longer, Ophelia turned to Zorvax, her eyes reflecting the turmoil of her thoughts. "Zorvax," she began, her voice tinged with hesitation, "about this power within you... what path will you choose now?"

Zorvax’s stride slowed, his footsteps echoing softly in the corridor. He turned to face Ophelia, his expression a canvas of contemplation and uncertainty. "I... I don’t know," he admitted, the truth of his words resonating in the silent corridor. The revelation of his power, its origins, and its potential had thrust upon him a burden of choices and responsibilities he never anticipated.

His gaze drifted away, lost in thought. "Even as a zombie, my mind, my soul, they’re still human. These human aspects, they influence my decisions." His voice revealed a vulnerability rarely seen in him. "This power... it’s not something I ever wanted."

Ophelia reached out, her touch gentle on his arm. "I understand," she said softly, her words a balm to his conflicted soul. "It’s a heavy burden, a path fraught with complexities."

Their eyes met, an unspoken understanding passing between them. But their moment of connection was abruptly shattered by a taunting voice echoing down the corridor.

"Running away so soon?" the voice taunted.

Both Zorvax and Ophelia spun around, startled. There, emerging from the shadows of the hallway, was Gamma, his face set in a smug grin. He was flanked by several of his bionic soldiers, all armed and ready for confrontation.

Zorvax, his protective instincts kicking in, moved swiftly to position himself between Ophelia and the impending threat. His body became a shield, his stance firm and ready for battle. "Gamma," he growled, his voice a low rumble of menace.

Gamma halted a few feet away, his face twisted into a smug grin. The gleam in his eyes was that of a predator eyeing its prey. "Did you really think you could escape so easily, Zorvax? I always have a backup plan."

Gamma’s tone was taunting, confident in his advantage. He leaned in slightly, as if savoring the moment. "You might as well give up and hand yourselves over," he sneered.

Zorvax’s anger flared at the provocation, his fists clenching tightly. "Never," he spat back, his voice seething with defiance.

Gamma’s smile widened, almost as if he relished the resistance. He raised his hand, signaling his bionic soldiers. "Attack them," he commanded, his tone cold and authoritative.

As the soldiers lunged forward, Zorvax readied himself. The cannons had taken a toll on his mental energy, so he opted for a different strategy this time. With a swift motion, he transformed his hands into sharp, gleaming blades – weapons that required less mental strain and offered more agility.

But just as Zorvax prepared to engage the soldiers, a sudden gunshot rang out. Zorvax whirled around to find its source and saw Ophelia, holding a gun, her expression one of determination. She had managed to secure a weapon during the chaos.

"Let me fight alongside you," Ophelia said, her voice steady despite the danger.

Zorvax nodded, a silent agreement passing between them. Together, they turned to face the oncoming soldiers.

The corridor erupted into a fierce battle. Zorvax, with his bladed hands, moved with lethal precision, cutting through the bionic soldiers with swift, decisive strikes. Ophelia, despite her weakened state, provided cover, her shots accurate and effective.

As they fought back-to-back, an unspoken synergy developed between them. Zorvax’s protective nature melded with Ophelia’s newfound resolve to fight. Each move they made was coordinated, a dance of survival against overwhelming odds.

Gamma, watching from a distance, frowned at the unexpected resistance. "Don’t let up!" he barked to his soldiers. "Take them down!"

The soldiers, spurred by Gamma’s command, increased their assault. But Zorvax and Ophelia were undeterred, their will to survive fueling their counterattacks.

Amidst the clash of metal and the sound of gunfire, Zorvax and Ophelia fought valiantly. Each soldier that fell to their combined efforts was a testament to their determination and strength.

Ophelia, finding strength she didn’t know she possessed, turned to Zorvax. "We can do this," she shouted over the din of battle, her eyes shining with a fierce resolve.

Zorvax, glancing back at her, nodded. "Together," he affirmed, his voice resolute.

The battle raged on with unyielding intensity. Zorvax and Ophelia, each relying on their unique strengths, fought back-to-back against the bionic soldiers. Their movements were synchronized, a testament to the bond they had formed. No longer were they merely a summoner and his summon; they had evolved into partners, equals in their desperate fight for freedom.

Amidst the clashing and gunfire, Zorvax noticed a change in Gamma’s demeanor. The commander’s face, previously smug and controlled, now contorted with rage. "How dare you? You’re just zombies, mere pawns!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the hallway.

Gamma’s frustration boiled over into fury. "I am a proud human, not to be bested by the likes of you!" he exclaimed, his eyes blazing with anger.

In a sudden, impulsive move, Gamma reached into his pocket and pulled out an injection needle. The needle glinted ominously under the dim lighting of the corridor. "Let me handle this myself," Gamma declared, his tone laced with determination and a hint of madness.

Before anyone could react, Gamma pressed the needle to his arm and injected himself with its contents. His body stiffened as the substance coursed through his veins.

Zorvax and Ophelia, momentarily taken aback by Gamma’s actions, watched warily. Zorvax tightened his grip on his weapons, prepared for whatever transformation or enhancement Gamma might undergo.

Gamma’s face twisted in pain and then determination as the injection took effect. His muscles bulged, his stature seeming to grow as he gained enhanced strength and agility.

"See what true power looks like!" Gamma roared, his voice booming with newfound power.

Zorvax, facing this enhanced version of Gamma, knew the battle had just escalated. "Ophelia, stay alert," he warned, his eyes fixed on Gamma.

Ophelia nodded, her grip on her weapon tightening. "I’m ready," she replied, her voice steady despite the palpable increase in danger.
