Zombolution: Unleash the Undying Power

Chapter 94: Saving Ophelia

Chapter 94: Saving Ophelia

In the aftermath of the fierce battle, Zorvax lay injured on the ground, his bionic body severely damaged. The room, once a site of his deft combat, now echoed with the sounds of his defeat. The bionic soldiers, under Commander Gamma’s orders, swiftly moved in, seizing the opportunity to overpower the weakened Zorvax. They grabbed his arms and pinned him down, ensuring he could no longer pose a threat.

Zorvax struggled against their grip, his eyes burning with a mix of pain and defiance. Despite his formidable strength, the injuries he had sustained and the sheer number of soldiers overwhelming him made resistance futile. He grunted in frustration, refusing to give in easily, but the soldiers’ grip was unrelenting.

Gamma, watching the scene with a satisfied smirk, began to walk toward Zorvax. Each step he took was measured, exuding a sense of triumph. "Well, well, Zorvax," he began, his voice dripping with condescension. "It seems you’re not as invincible as you thought."

Zorvax, glaring up at Gamma, replied through gritted teeth, "You haven’t won yet, Gamma."

Gamma chuckled, the sound cold and devoid of any real amusement. "Oh, but I believe I have. You see, you’re at my mercy now." He paused, looking down at Zorvax with a predatory gaze.

Ophelia, still trapped and watching helplessly, cried out, "Leave him alone, Gamma! He’s done nothing to you!"

Gamma turned his head slightly towards Ophelia, his expression unchanging. "On the contrary, he’s done everything. He’s disrupted our operations and threatened our research. And for that, he must pay."

Turning back to Zorvax, Gamma crouched down to be at eye level with him. "You could have been a valuable asset to us, Zorvax. Instead, you chose to be an obstacle. And obstacles must be removed."

Zorvax, despite his weakened state, maintained a defiant demeanor. "I’ll never be a part of your twisted plans," he spat, his eyes locked on Gamma’s.

Gamma, having regained his composure, stood up, meticulously straightening his uniform. He looked down at Zorvax with a mixture of pity and disdain. "Such a pity. You could have achieved greatness," he said, his voice tinged with regret for the lost opportunity. Turning to his soldiers, he gave a curt order. "Take him away. Ensure he’s secure this time. We can’t have any more... interruptions."

The bionic soldiers moved to comply, reaching down to lift Zorvax. But before they could execute Gamma’s command, the ground beneath them started to tremble, a low rumble that grew in intensity. Confusion spread among the soldiers; they exchanged uncertain glances, unsure of what was happening.

Gamma’s composure began to crack as the ground beneath them trembled. His eyes darted around, seeking the cause of the disturbance. Amidst the confusion, his gaze fell on Zorvax. Despite his injuries and seemingly hopeless situation, Zorvax bore a faint smile of satisfaction, completely out of place in the unfolding chaos.

Gamma, his suspicion now fully aroused, turned sharply towards Zorvax. "What have you done?" he demanded, his voice edged with a mix of concern and anger.

Zorvax, maintaining his faint smile, responded with a tone of triumph. "Why don’t you take a good look around, Gamma? You might find the situation quite... enlightening."

With a sense of foreboding, Gamma slowly turned to survey the room. His eyes widened in shock as he realized the extent of Zorvax’s actions. The walls of the room were punctured with several holes, remnants of Zorvax’s earlier shots that had seemed to miss their target. But now, Gamma understood they were far from misses; they were strategically placed openings.

As the walls of the room were breached, a relentless tide of zombies began to pour through the openings. Their groans and snarls filled the air, creating a cacophony that resonated with terror. Drawn by Zorvax’s unique Zombie Ruler ability, they swarmed into the room in overwhelming numbers, their eyes vacant yet fixed on their targets.

Gamma, witnessing the horde’s entry, turned back to Zorvax, his face etched with disbelief and anger. "You planned this... all along?" he demanded, his voice a mixture of incredulity and begrudging respect.

Zorvax, still bearing the marks of battle, nodded, his grin widening. "A desperate move, perhaps, but effective," he replied confidently. "You see, Gamma, I’m not just any ordinary zombie. I’m a survivor."

The bionic soldiers, initially taken aback by the sudden appearance of the zombie horde, quickly regrouped, their training kicking in. They formed a defensive perimeter, their weapons firing into the mass of undead.

Gamma, watching his well-trained soldiers struggle against the sheer number of zombies, yelled out orders over the din of battle. "Contain the breach! Don’t let the zombies overrun us! We need to hold the line!"

Zorvax, seizing the opportunity presented by the chaos, fought against the soldiers restraining him. Despite the pain from his injuries, he was driven by a potent mix of adrenaline and determination. He writhed and twisted, using every ounce of his strength to break free. His eyes were fixed on Ophelia, his resolve strengthened by the need to rescue her.

"Zorvax!" Ophelia’s voice cut through the noise, her tone a mix of fear and hope. She struggled against her restraints, her eyes locked on Zorvax.

Hearing her call, Zorvax’s efforts redoubled. With a final push, he broke free from the soldiers’ grasp, his bionic body responding with a burst of energy. He lunged towards the containment unit holding Ophelia, his movements swift and decisive.

The soldiers, now divided between fighting off the zombie horde and restraining Zorvax, were visibly struggling. The room was a whirlwind of action, with zombies clawing and biting and soldiers desperately trying to fend them off.

Zorvax reached Ophelia and began working on the locks of the containment unit. His fingers moved with impressive speed, his mechanical enhancements aiding him in the task. "Hold on, Ophelia," he muttered, focused on freeing her.

Ophelia, watching Zorvax’s efforts, felt a surge of relief. "Hurry, Zorvax," she urged, her voice trembling.

Meanwhile, Gamma, seeing the situation spiraling out of control, attempted to rally his troops. "Focus, men! We can’t let them escape!" he shouted, his voice carrying a note of desperation. He pushed his way through the chaos, his eyes fixed on Zorvax.

Finally, with a satisfying click, the containment unit unlocked, and Ophelia was free. She stumbled into Zorvax’s arms, weak but relieved.

Gamma, reaching them, pointed his weapon at Zorvax. "You think you’ve won, Zorvax? This is far from over!" he barked, his expression one of fury and determination.

Zorvax, supporting Ophelia with one arm, faced Gamma defiantly. "It’s over for you, Gamma. Your plans end here." His voice was calm but carried an undercurrent of threat.

Gamma sneered, "You’re a fool if you think you can just walk out of here."

Zorvax’s gaze hardened. "Watch me." With that, he turned, shielding Ophelia with his body, and began to navigate through the chaos towards the exit. The zombies, still swarming the room, created a chaotic buffer between them and the soldiers.
