Zombolution: Unleash the Undying Power

Chapter 54: Infiltrating Bionic Human Base

Chapter 54: Infiltrating Bionic Human Base

Trailing the group of humans proved to be an easy task for Zorvax and Ophelia, whose bionic enhancements allowed them to keep pace with the military vehicle without strain. The car’s heavy-duty build meant it moved slower than a civilian model, a fact that played well into their hands.

They kept a steady distance, moving with an inhuman swiftness that matched the rumbling engine’s pace. Their figures blurred just out of sight, silent as shadows flitting through the landscape.

After a pursuit that stretched over miles, the vehicle approached a formidable structure. The building, a large dome, loomed ahead, its walls reflecting the last rays of the setting sun. It looked impenetrable, designed to withstand much more than just the zombie menace.

Zorvax paused, taking in the sight of armed guards and fortified entrances. The dome was a hive of activity, with individuals decked in armor moving about with purpose. "This place is crawling with bionic humans," he assessed silently, his eyes narrowing.

Ophelia leaned in, observing the scene with a mix of awe and tension. "What’s our next step?" she inquired, her voice a hushed whisper against the wind.

Zorvax contemplated the situation. "They’re all level 2, at least. Strong, but not unbeatable," he mused, more to himself than to Ophelia. "But taking on an army like this... it’s not wise. Not head-on."

Ophelia waited for him to elaborate, her stance mirroring his—alert and ready for instruction.

"We infiltrate," Zorvax decided. "Blend in and gather intel. We need to know more before we make a move."

He reached into a compartment within his suit, retrieving two dark suits and masks designed to conceal their identities. He handed one set to Ophelia. "Put this on. It will help us move unnoticed."

Slipping into the dark suits, Zorvax and Ophelia moved with a fluid grace, their actions nearly silent. The fabric of their disguises melded with their forms, the masks concealing the telltale signs of their undead nature.

Ophelia fiddled with her mask, ensuring a snug fit before glancing at Zorvax, seeking a nonverbal go-ahead. "Ready," she declared, her voice slightly muffled by the mask but still carrying the unmistakable note of readiness.

Zorvax, ever the tactician, gave her a slight nod. "Stay close. It’s time to blend in," he said, keeping his voice to a whisper. With that, he led the way, his steps careful and measured.

They reached the imposing fence, a structure of intertwining metal designed to be an impenetrable boundary. Zorvax’s eyes scanned its length, a faint smirk playing across his face. This fence, meant to deter the dead and the living alike, was no match for their enhanced strength. With a fluid grace that contradicted the action’s violence, Zorvax’s hands latched onto the cold metal, and with a subtle flexing of his bionic muscles, he pried the bars apart, creating a gap.

They slipped through, Zorvax first, with Ophelia close behind, her own movements quick and silent. Just beyond the fence, Zorvax halted, a signal to Ophelia to do the same. His head tilted slightly, listening to the distant hum of activity near the dome.

Reaching out with his mind, Zorvax tapped into the Zombie Ruler power. The air around them seemed to quiver as, far off, groans and shuffles of the undead grew into a crescendo of noise. A horde of zombies, driven by Zorvax’s will, shambled towards the dome.

The ruckus was immediate. Bionic human guards snapped to alert, their previously bored stances tightening into readiness. "We’ve got a surge of dead-heads coming in from the east perimeter!" one guard barked into his radio, the green light on his earpiece blinking rapidly.

Another guard, closer to Zorvax and Ophelia’s position, drew his weapon. "Movement on the fence line," he reported, his eyes scanning the horizon. "Possible breach. I’m going to check it out."

The distraction was perfect. Zorvax and Ophelia took advantage of the chaos, slipping away from the fence and towards the dome’s entrance.

As they approached, they saw the security measures in place. Guards stood at the entrance, a scanner in place to read ID cards. "All personnel must show ID upon entry," one guard announced robotically to everyone passing through. "No exceptions."

As they saw the scanner, Zorvax’s keen eyes scanned the area for any solution to their predicament. It was then that a rhythmic, muted sound filtered through the air – the unmistakable cadence of snoring. Hidden in the dimness of a recessed nook, a guard had succumbed to slumber, the ID card they needed tantalizingly draped around his neck.

Zorvax turned slightly to catch Ophelia’s reaction. Even through the shadows cast by her mask, he could see the disbelief in her posture. "Is he seriously asleep?" Ophelia’s voice was a hushed murmur, her astonishment not quite overshadowing her instinct to remain quiet.

With a wry tilt of his head, an expression that would be a smirk if not for the situation, Zorvax wordlessly conveyed his agreement with her silent assessment. "Stay here. I’ll handle this," he whispered, his tone carrying the weight of decision.

He crept toward the slumbering guard with the stealth of a shadow, his footsteps deliberate and soft. As he neared the unsuspecting man, he paused to glance back at Ophelia, signaling her to watch for any passersby.

Ophelia’s eyes were wide, alert, and her nod was almost imperceptible as she kept lookout.

Reaching the guard, Zorvax moved with lethal grace. His left hand clamped over the man’s mouth, stifling any potential noise, while his right hand underwent a startling transformation, fingers merging and reshaping into the form of a gleaming blade.

Ophelia’s breath caught in her throat as Zorvax acted. It was a silent, swift conclusion, and the guard slumped without a sound, the ID card now within their grasp.

Zorvax retrieved the card with care, his movements clean and efficient. He returned to Ophelia, holding the card up for her to see. "Let’s go," he said, a low undertone to his voice. "We have everything we need now."

With the ID card secured, Zorvax and Ophelia slipped through the entrance of the dome, the door closing silently behind them. They found themselves in a new world of corridors and metal, the heart of the bionic human base now open to them, ripe for the taking.
