Chapter 212: The Chosen Opponents

Chapter 212: The Chosen Opponents

Vincent, regaining his footing after his failed attack, shook his head in disbelief. His usually enigmatic expression was replaced with a rare hint of confusion. "They saw right through my attack," he muttered to himself. Standing up, he brushed off the dust, his face set in a determined expression. "We need to work together. Their strength is undeniable."

Lydia, standing tall and unshaken by the recent events, nodded in agreement. Her stoic face showed no sign of fear, only a resolute determination. "A joint attack is the only logical approach," she said, her voice steady and calm. "Their mana is formidable."

Cassandra, still visibly annoyed by the situation, crossed her arms and let out a sigh of frustration. "I can’t believe I’m being forced to collaborate with all of you," she said, her voice dripping with pride. Despite her reluctance, the determination in her eyes showed she was ready to put aside differences for the greater challenge.

Erik, always brimming with confidence, stepped closer to Cassandra, meeting her eyes. "We need to put aside our pride, Cassandra. This is about winning," he said firmly. His posture was relaxed yet alert, ready for the next move.

Alfred, observing the group coming to a consensus, couldn’t help but smirk. His arrogance was evident as he interjected, "Well, it seems we’ve reached an agreement." He brushed his hair back with a hand, his stance commanding and full of self-assuredness.

Ophelia watched the Tier 4 Ascendants with amusement as they strategized their next move. The sight of these powerful individuals banding together seemed to entertain her greatly. Turning to Drakina with a playful glint in her eyes, she commented, "Looks like they’re teaming up against us. How many of them are you thinking of taking on?"

Drakina, her expression as stoic and unreadable as ever, calmly raised her hand and displayed three fingers. Her body language was relaxed, but there was a certain sharpness in her gaze that betrayed her readiness for the battle ahead.

Ophelia’s smile grew even broader at Drakina’s response. She playfully tilted her head, her eyes dancing with mischief as she looked over the group of Ascendants. "Alright, then I’ll pick first," she declared, her tone light but her intent clear.

Drakina gave a slight nod, her posture steady and composed. She stood silently, her eyes methodically moving over Cassandra, Erik, Lydia, Alfred, and Vincent, assessing each of them as potential opponents.

The Ascendants, for their part, were gearing up for the confrontation. Alfred, with his usual arrogance, stood tall, his arms crossed over his chest. He watched Ophelia and Drakina with a smirk, clearly underestimating them despite the earlier display of their abilities.

In the blink of an eye, Ophelia disappeared from the view of the stunned Tier 4 Ascendants. They frantically scanned their surroundings, trying to pinpoint her location, but she had vanished into thin air.

Cassandra, feeling both her pride and alertness surge, called out in frustration and disbelief, "Where the hell did she go?" Her eyes darted around, searching for any sign of Ophelia.

But before anyone could even hazard a guess, Ophelia reemerged suddenly, standing right in front of Cassandra. With a playful and mischievous grin, Ophelia taunted, "I choose you, Cassandra." In a fluid motion, she delivered a powerful kick that caught Cassandra off guard. The force sent Cassandra hurtling through the air towards a distant area.

Erik, witnessing this sudden turn of events, shouted out in alarm, "Cassandra!" His voice was tinged with both concern and surprise.

But there was no time for Cassandra to respond or for Erik to react further. In her typical, unpredictable manner, Ophelia was already beside Vincent. "You’re next," she announced with a smirk, and swiftly, she kicked Vincent, sending him tumbling through the air, following the same trajectory as Cassandra.

As Vincent was propelled away, he managed to utter a shocked, "How?!" His expression was one of disbelief, not expecting such agility and speed from Ophelia.

Ophelia, clearly enjoying the chaos she was causing, turned to Drakina and said cheerfully, "Have fun with the others, Drakina." Then, with a speed that seemed to blur her form, she dashed off in the direction where Cassandra and Vincent had been sent.

Cassandra, as she landed with a thud, quickly scrambled to her feet. Her face flushed with a mix of anger and determination. "This isn’t over," she muttered to herself, ready to retaliate.

Vincent, picking himself up, brushed off his clothes, his face still showing signs of surprise. "She’s more than we bargained for," he said, readjusting his strategy for the next confrontation.

Meanwhile, back where the confrontation had begun, Alfred, Erik, and Lydia readied themselves. They had just witnessed Ophelia’s unpredictability and strength, and it was clear they needed a new approach to stand a chance against her and Drakina.

Alfred, with his usual air of arrogance but with a hint of seriousness this time, spoke up. "It seems we need to take this more seriously," he said, glancing around at the altered battlefield. "I’ve fought her before, and she’s stronger than you might expect."

Erik, undeterred and still exuding confidence, replied, "It’s unfortunate that Cassandra and Vincent were taken out, but I think we still have a fighting chance with the three of us."

Lydia, her stoic expression unchanged, nodded in agreement but with a cautionary note. "Correct, but remember, this opponent is not as straightforward as she seems."

Meanwhile, Drakina stood a short distance away, her posture stoic and unyielding. She observed the trio with a calm but intense gaze, readying herself for the impending battle. Her demeanor was a stark contrast to Ophelia’s unpredictability, exuding a silent but formidable presence.

The three Ascendants spread out, positioning themselves strategically while keeping a watchful eye on Drakina. The tension in the air was palpable as both sides anticipated the other’s next move.

In the distance, Ophelia’s laughter could be heard, adding an eerie tone to the already tense atmosphere. The sense of unpredictability she brought to the battle made it clear that this was not going to be a straightforward fight.

Alfred, ready to take the lead, signaled to Erik and Lydia. "Let’s show them the true power of Tier 4 Ascendants," he declared, his voice laced with determination and a hint of arrogance.

Erik and Lydia nodded, and together, the three advanced towards Drakina, each ready to use their unique abilities in a coordinated assault. The battle was about to escalate, and the outcome was far from certain.
