Chapter 1692 - 1689: Looking for Something
Chapter 1692 - 1689: Looking for Something
The martial arts hall was silent, and after a while, Ju Yuuzen waved his hand: "You all can leave."
"Then... we’ll go first." Kunno Saburo didn’t want to stay any longer; the atmosphere was too oppressive. The group hurried away, leaving Ju Yuuzen alone in the martial arts hall.
Ju Yuuzen looked up, his expression uncertain. He glanced around the martial arts hall, turned around, and stepped down from the ring. Once outside the hall, he didn’t go downstairs but instead went upstairs, ascending quickly to the rooftop.
By now, there was no one in the martial arts hall, and the rooftop was even emptier, surrounded by endless darkness, with only street lamps and distant lights from the teaching buildings illuminating the area.
Ju Yuuzen reached the rooftop and did nothing, just stood quietly. After about ten minutes, a figure emerged from the dark corner of the rooftop.
Ju Yuuzen quickly turned to look at the figure, bowed his head: "Mr. Heichuan, you’re still so formidable; I didn’t notice your arrival at all."
"Haha, don’t be discouraged. As long as you have a heart that pursues the strongest martial arts, you’ll eventually reach the teacher’s level, maybe even surpass it. I have faith in your talent."
The figure was dressed in black, walking like a ghost in the night. As he emerged from the darkness, his appearance became clear. A middle-aged man with sparse eyebrows, slender eyes, a sleazy demeanor, yet a glint seemed to flash in his eyes.
"But, teacher, I lost tonight." Ju Yuuzen hung his head, full of shame.
"Lost?" Heichuan seemed genuinely surprised and then frowned: "I know your strength, ordinary martial artists aren’t your match. How many moves did it take for him to defeat you, fifty moves? Or a hundred moves?"
Ju Yuuzen lowered his head further and said softly: "One move."
"One move!" Heichuan’s expression shook, his eyes squinted: "There are such formidable students at Jinghua University?"
"Indeed, this person has been hiding their strength, suddenly bursting forth, with a depth unfathomable." Ju Yuuzen spoke truthfully, paused briefly, and then said with shame: "Mr. Heichuan, I lost, the Karate Club couldn’t merge with the Martial Arts Club, letting the teacher down."
"Haha..." Heichuan shook his head, smiling: "Two small clubs, how could the teacher care about that? The goal has already been achieved, successfully drawing others’ attention is what matters, merging is no longer important."
Ju Yuuzen felt slightly disappointed. He cared about victory and defeat, but the teacher merely used the match to divert others’ attention.
After thinking for a while, he gathered the courage to ask: "Mr. Heichuan, what is it you’re looking for, why divert others’ attention?"
"No need for you to know what I’m looking for, but I can tell you, I don’t care about others, just need to divert Gai Huatian and Wu Xiuluo’s attention." Heichuan’s face remained calm, yet mentioning the popular students caused a ripple in his gaze.
Ju Yuuzen raised his head, full of confusion: "Mr. Heichuan, Gai Huatian and Wu Xiuluo are famous in the school, but they’re just students; why do they make you so cautious?"
"Just students? Humph, their strength certainly isn’t below the teacher’s, and I don’t know their backgrounds either; it’s best to be cautious, don’t provoke them unnecessarily." Heichuan warned sternly.
"Understood." Ju Yuuzen nodded, paused briefly, then asked: "Have you found what you need, teacher? Should I continue to merge with the boxing club?"
Heichuan thought for a moment, then shook his head: "Not for now. I haven’t found what I’m looking for yet, but this matter might be put on hold for a while; soon, I’ll meet an important person."
"Alright." Ju Yuuzen once again bowed his head respectfully. When he looked up again, Heichuan was nowhere to be seen, the surroundings empty, devoid of anyone.
Sigh...
A low sigh from Ju Yuuzen echoed on the rooftop, accentuating the solitude of the night.
By this time, Lin Tian had already walked far away from the martial arts hall with Xiao Manxuan and Qiao Xiaoyi.
"Brother Lin, do I really need treatment?" Qiao Xiaoyi couldn’t help but ask when they were about to part ways at the intersection.
"Uh, no need, I just didn’t want to join the crowd." Lin Tian waved his hand, honestly not keen on joining the martial arts club’s bustle.
Mu Binglan and Qiao Xiaoyi were injured from the contest, yet they focused on arguing with the Karate Club, neglecting the injuries of the two. Lin Tian didn’t have a good feeling about this.
"Alright, then I’m relieved, I was worried it would affect my studies. I’m heading back now, Brother Lin, Mr. Xiao, goodnight." Qiao Xiaoyi bid Lin Tian goodbye and headed home.
Once Qiao Xiaoyi was gone, Xiao Manxuan said: "Lin Tian, I felt I saw Gai Huatian and Wu Xiuluo."
"You noticed too? Your insight is sharp; their position was quite clever, unnoticed by the whole venue." Lin Tian was mildly surprised. He had felt something and only then looked in that direction.
Xiao Manxuan blinked, a hint of puzzlement flashing past, then uncertainly said: "I’m not too sure, but since returning from Red Leaf Mountain, my senses seem to have sharpened a lot; I don’t know why, what really happened that night?"
"You honestly don’t remember?" Lin Tian recalled the events of that night, feeling a chill of fear mixed with embarrassment. The little girl unleashed a burst of energy, crippling Secret Master Yasuo with one palm, and repelling Xu Feibai with another, a truly astounding power.
Xiao Manxuan shook her head, puzzled: "I don’t know, I found myself in the tent with you after waking up..."
At this point, the little girl suddenly stopped, a blush spread across her cheeks, her eyes flashing coquettishly, then turned and ran away, leaving Lin Tian to sigh in regret.
However, he was also puzzled; why had Xiao Manxuan undergone such changes? Thinking hard, he couldn’t come up with an answer.
Returning, sleeping, then waking up, attending classes; after the contest, the campus seemed to return to its usual calm, with those who loved studying running continuously between dormitory, classroom, and library, while those enamored with romance enjoyed the moonlit nights.
The only thing troubling Lin Tian was that after the martial arts hall contest, his fame had seemingly expanded too much; wherever he went, he was surrounded, particularly by enthusiastic girls, which was overwhelming.
Friday morning, after finishing his class, Lin Tian and Qiao Xiaoyi were leaving the classroom when they noticed a big crowd gathered in front of the teaching building, seemingly watching some excitement.
Lin Tian wasn’t one for such scenes, shook his head, about to leave when suddenly he heard a shout from the middle of the crowd: "Xiao Yue, come down, I know you’re upstairs."
"It’s the person we fought with before." Qiao Xiaoyi was startled and surprised.
Lin Tian naturally recognized it too, just as he was about to say something, a window upstairs burst open, and a head popped out, the senior sister Mi Yue from the palaeontology department.
Mi Yue shouted down to the crowd: "Bothering me every day, don’t leave! Watch how I deal with you."
