Chapter 891 - 894: Nan Baihao Is Like a Super Nanny
Chenxing followed Gu Shaocheng down the ladder from the plane.
The bodyguards waiting at the airport entrance closely followed as soon as they saw them emerge.
The driver brought over the car, a stretched vehicle that not only seated her, Huanhuan, Shaocheng, and Baihao, but also a few new bodyguards other than Leng Tong. The rest took other cars, escorting them with caution from both front and back.
The drive didn’t lead to any bustling city areas but along a somewhat remote highway.
Chenxing took a magazine, leaning on Gu Shaocheng, casually flipping through a few pages without really taking anything in—she always felt a bit drained after a flight.
After about forty minutes on the road, the car stopped in front of a Portuguese-style villa with a huge swimming pool at the entrance, its azure waters reflecting her image that Chenxing couldn’t help but take a second glance.
"Do you want to swim? Get some sleep first, and build up your energy."
Chenxing hummed in response, surrounded by greenery, with the sound of the waves in the distance suggesting they weren’t far from the coast.
Huanhuan, heavily pregnant, protested, "Honey, don’t help me, I can walk on my own."
"My ancestor, if I don’t support you, what if you fall?" Nan Baihao, like a super nanny, watched anxiously as Huanhuan climbed each step.
He was so afraid of her getting hurt that he almost wished he could just carry her.
Once everyone arrived inside the house and settled the two ladies in, the men left to attend to business matters.
Chenxing tugged at him, not letting him leave, "Can you stay with me for a while before you go get busy?"
She didn’t want him to wear himself out and used that as an excuse to insist he rest. No one is made of iron, and after such a long time on the plane and in the car, Gu Shaocheng smiled and pinched her nose, "Are you that dependent on me?"
Internally he griped, knowing that I’m ill, do you still rely on me so much? Are you really not thinking about how to leave me?
Chenxing nodded seriously, persistently hugging his arm and pleading, "Stay with me while I sleep. I can’t fall asleep right away in a strange place, but I’m really tired. I can sleep more soundly with you by my side."
"Okay."
They lay down fully clothed, Gu Shaocheng lying beside her, and asked playfully, "Do you want me to sing you a lullaby?"
Chenxing burst out laughing at his teasing, "Stop it, let’s sleep."
Saying this, she took hold of his arm and lay down beside him, eyes closed, overcome with sleepiness—the afternoons in summer always made one feel like they could never get enough sleep.
Young Master Gu smiled and said nothing more, quietly lying beside her.
He was a bit tired too; in an embrace, they both took a short nap amidst their busy schedule. An hour later, Gu Shaocheng woke up feeling much more refreshed. Gazing at her sweet sleeping face filled him with contentment, and he gently pecked her on the lips.
In that moment, he would willingly give up the whole world just to enjoy this beautiful time, "Chenxing, I honestly wish I could sleep like this with you forever."
Alas, he had matters to attend to and must get up.
...
"The nerve of you, Baihao, promising to take me out for fun and then running off on your own, leaving me in this godforsaken place," Huanhuan muttered to herself while walking circles in the living room, "Not even having dinner with me. Tell me, what’s the use of a man like that? When you need him, he’s nowhere to be found."
Chenxing, focused on making fruit platters, clad in a small strappy ocean dress, said, "He’s out making money for you to spend, and yet you’re complaining!"
