Chapter 880 - 883 I’m Really Angry

Sitting in the car on the way to the downtown area, Gu Shaocheng noticed her distracted state and threatened, in a menacing tone, "What’s been going on these past two days? You’re always so absent-minded when I talk to you. Do you need me to lose my temper before you stop letting your mind wander?"

Chenxing: "I... I’m not."

"Not? Then tell me, what did I just say to you? Repeat it back to me."

Chenxing inwardly griped, aren’t you just asking me which mall I want to shop at? I don’t want to go anywhere; I just want you to be okay, to be healthy. However, she obediently leaned on his shoulder with a sweet disposition.

"Which mall do you want to go shopping at? Are you lacking clothes? Call Hua Hua and have her make some for you."

Chenxing repeated his words exactly.

Since Gu Shaocheng could not find any fault with her, he could only watch in silence as she took out her phone and scrolled through WeChat without much interest in shopping, buying a few things haphazardly. He then asked her seriously, "What’s really on your mind? If you keep treating me like I’m not worth your full attention, I am really going to get angry."

"There’s nothing."

Gu Shaocheng’s face turned stern: "Don’t think I can’t see it. You say you want to shop, but look at what you’ve bought. Can’t you put a little more heart into it?"

She had wandered around half the day and only bought a tie for him. Is this what she calls shopping?

Why would he need to buy ties when Hua Hua can make them for him!

He really was a fool to accompany her shopping as she showed no interest. His expression chilled as he gripped her hand firmly, "We’re not shopping anymore. It seems like you don’t have your mind on it. The only enjoyment you get is when I drag you to bed and take off your clothes!"

Chenxing’s face turned beet red.

Finally realizing she had irritated Gu Shaocheng, she fell silent like a timid wife, unable to keep up with his long strides, she had to jog to maintain his pace.

The two reached the parking lot, and Chenxing was stuffed into the passenger seat while Gu Shaocheng sat in the driver’s seat. Just as he released the handbrake to drive off, he sat there unmoving, in total silence.

After a full five minutes, he irritably pushed the car door open, a cold aura emanating from him.

He walked around the car and opened the passenger door.

Said to the woman inside, "You drive."

"..."

"Let me see if your driving has gotten any worse!" Gu Shaocheng feigned an excuse. With his face still cold, Chenxing didn’t dare to defy him and obediently ran to the driver’s seat.

There was silence the entire way, with even and steady driving.

Chenxing stealthily observed Gu Shaocheng through the rear-view mirror. His arms remained folded, his expression unchanging. She shrank her shoulders and bit her lip before nudging his arm, "Shaocheng."

He glanced at her indifferently.

"Can you please not be angry?"

"I didn’t actually want to come out shopping. I’m sorry, I lied to you."

"Shaocheng..."

But he remained motionless.

"My mom’s illness hasn’t shown much improvement. Even though there are occasional responses, this slow treatment doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. I feel really defeated, so I can’t seem to find interest in anything. I’m sorry for ruining the shopping trip. Please don’t be angry, okay?"

Gu Shaocheng’s expression finally softened a bit, but he didn’t speak for a long while.

He continued to wait for her to speak gently.

After another five minutes, he spoke calmly, "I’m going to India in a couple of days. I’ll take you with me. You can get a peace charm or something for your mom to ease your mind."

He then added, "When you’re with me, no matter the situation, you’re not allowed to absent-mindedly go through the motions."
