Chapter 877 - 880: I Will Never Leave You
Chapter 877 - 880: I Will Never Leave You
"I don’t want anything to happen to you, never ever. Promise me, promise me right now."
She lifted her head again, moving to his lips, greedily kissing him.
Her lips, landed on his, his nose, his eyes, even his eyelashes.
Her pleading voice, like a helpless and weak animal.
Gu Shaocheng’s countenance gradually became serene.
His gaze flickered.
He had no idea what horrible nightmare she had, to be so terrified.
His heart twinged slightly, and he gently continued to pat her back, "Silly girl, dreams are opposite of reality. How could something happen to me when I’m so strong?"
"Really, it won’t?"
"Of course not!"
"Then promise me, swear that you’ll never ever leave me."
Silly girl, Gu Shaocheng smiled at her persistent nuisance, but the way she depended on him warmed his heart from the inside out. If an oath was what she wanted, then an oath she shall have. Women tend to fancy such things, "Alright, I swear, I will never leave you. Even in death, I will be with you."
"Don’t say ’die,’ never ever say that word," Chenxing covered his mouth, her body violently trembling at the mention of death.
She didn’t want him to die!
She wanted him healthy and well!
"I, Gu Shaocheng, swear that in this life I will never leave Miss Zhou Chenxing, is that okay?"
Tears hung on the corners of Chenxing’s eyes as she nodded vigorously, still greedily wanting to kiss him.
Gu Shaocheng picked her up and carried her out of the room, sitting with her in the courtyard. He thought that breathing in some fresh air, changing the environment might help her break free from the nightmare.
"Where did we pick the lotuses from before?" Trying to divert her attention, he walked with her deeper into the yard and joked as they strolled, "Yesterday, the butler said all the lotuses in our garden have blossomed, and he asked me to bring you back to see them. He said you like them. Do you truly like lotuses that much?"
Chenxing, still immersed in her fears, was listless.
She clung tightly to his arm, "Bihe Garden."
Gu Shaocheng led her by the hand towards Bihe Garden, gently wiping her tears and whispered jokingly, "Alright, stop crying. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at by the servants? They might start rumors that you’re falling out of favor and being bullied by me."
She felt upset, "I’m not crying."
"So what’s coming out of your eyes then, pearls?" Gu Shaocheng teased her playfully.
She wiped aggressively, but the tears just kept coming.
"Do you still remember that night at Bihe Garden when we stayed the night?"
"Of course, I remember. That was when you celebrated my coming of age."
"Silly! Actually, that night..." Gu Shaocheng chuckled thinking about her naive blunder, "That night I wanted to confess to you, but you turned it into a big misunderstanding, which left us both not knowing whether to laugh or cry."
"Ah?" She didn’t know, gazing at him in shock, "Confess?"
"Yes, confess, you dummy. You thought I was just celebrating your coming of age. Didn’t you see the words in the fireworks?"
Chenxing shook her head, "What words? I didn’t see them."
"Never mind if you didn’t see them." He laughed, a mysterious smile on his face.
They had reached Bihe Garden, walking onto the meandering cloister. Holding her hand, he bent down invitingly, his posture both gentlemanly and elegant, "Beautiful miss, would you honor me with a dance that we never finished?"
