After finishing, his gaze fell onto Chenxing, and the gentlemanly man smiled at her with exceptional warmth: "Little beauty, we meet again."

Gu Shaocheng didn’t care about these details and introduced Kevin: "This is my fourth brother, Yan Fengchi. Discuss any specific news with him. But once at the hotel, Chenxing became restless, standing by the window overlooking the strange city, wishing she could pull her cousin out of some corner of this unfamiliar city. She grabbed Gu Shaocheng’s hand, "Do you really think my cousin came to assassinate someone?"

"It’s not certain; it might be unrelated to her. Stop thinking about it. No matter how much you worry, it won’t help. Just stay calm and wait for news at the hotel. We should get some leads soon."

As Gu Shaocheng spoke, he quickly changed the topic, "Do you still remember two years ago we also stayed in this room of the hotel?"

Chenxing hadn’t noticed such details, and as Gu Shaocheng pinched her nose, she swatted his hand away. He pinched her cheek, and as Chenxing pouted, his words echoed in her ears: "I seem to remember you really liking the frozen desserts from the hotel’s downstairs sweet shop back then. Do you want to try them again for old time’s sake?"

"No appetite."

Gu Shaocheng tenderly ruffled her hair, "Let’s not decide on your appetite until after we’ve bought it."

He took her out of the room, but they were disappointed once they reached the hotel’s ground floor. The sweet shop had turned into a coffee shop. Discovering the change in the facade, he couldn’t help but laugh, "Even if you’re in the mood now, there’s nothing left to eat."

He asked around and learned there was another shop across the street, but Chenxing couldn’t be bothered to walk that far. Gu Shaocheng cursed her laziness and left to buy something by himself, while Chenxing turned back to the hotel, only to run into an old acquaintance in this foreign land unexpectedly.

Inside the hotel lobby, both were silent, the atmosphere tense.

Xia Jianqing walked towards her, step by step, and as Chenxing watched the increasingly close figure, she gave an awkward smile: "What a coincidence."

"I didn’t want to see you at all." These were the first words Xia Jianqing said.

Chenxing was taken aback, not knowing how to continue the conversation, feeling the urge to sidestep, but her arm was grabbed. Jianqing’s gaze was fixed on her, and the complexity in his eyes was something she actually didn’t want to understand. Chenxing parted her lips, feeling fate’s cruel play, "Jianqing, you’ve lost a lot of weight. Have things been rough for you lately?"

Hearing this, Xia Jianqing pursed his lips and said nothing.

"Could you let go of me, please? Shaocheng will be back any minute, and it wouldn’t be good for him to see us." Shaocheng was a very jealous man in this regard.
