Chapter 572 - 575: The Mystery of The Origins Begins to Show Part 6_1
"Don’t be upset, don’t punish yourself for others’ mistakes, it isn’t worth it." As she murmurs, her tender words manage to warm his heart.
Gu Shaocheng gazes at her for a long time.
His heart feels warmer and more tender with each passing moment.
Chenxing, however, feels a pang of sorrow, empathizing with his internal pain. She has met Mrs. Xia. We can’t choose where we are born, or who our parents are. His mother didn’t love him; it was as if he was born in the wrong womb. Chenxing closed her eyes, her long eyelashes fluttered, "Shaocheng, I want to spend every New Year’s Eve with you. You must be with me too. We should not dwell on the past; we should look forward. Okay?"
She lifted her head, her eyes clear and bright.
He hugs her tightly, his voice husky yet soothing, laughing, "Silly girl, I’m not as fragile as you think. I just let my emotions get the better of me."
Chenxing purses her lips, instinctively sensing his sadness.
Gu Shaocheng quickly adds, "Also, if you’re not spending New Year’s Eve with me, who are you planning to spend it with?"
Hearing his words, Chenxing playfully blinks. She feels more relaxed, "That depends. If you bully me like last night, I’ll celebrate alone, and let you be by yourself. You can wallow in your sadness, hmm."
He chuckled, "You silly thing!"
Then, he gently kisses her on the forehead.
How can he not be crazy about a woman like her?
Even though he was in a bad mood, he would normally choose to distance himself from others, but she came to his side and gave him hope of a better future.
He was deeply grateful.
While others made sure to keep their distance when he was upset, she alone was brave enough to comfort him. Time after time, she made him feel her genuine companionship.
Involuntarily, Gu Shaocheng whispered two words,
"My wife..."
He said it gently, so softly, it sounded like sleep talking.
On hearing this endearment, Chenxing’s face flushes, her heart thumps. Only now she curiously asks, "Why are you acting so strange today, calling me your wife? You’ve never done that before."
"Don’t you like it?" He gently lifts her chin, leans in close, and kisses her rosy lips.
"...I’m not used to it." After saying this, she bashfully buries her head in his chest, staying quiet.
Gu Shaocheng smirks, assuming she secretly finds it appealing. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have called him ’hubby’ when she was tipsy.
"Then start getting used to it now," Gu Shaocheng grins at this quirky girl, "How about calling me hubby once?"
"No way!"
He whispers into her ear, "Come on, I love hearing it."
"We’re not even married yet." Chenxing mumbles, but deep down, she loves this term of endearment.
"So you can’t call me hubby unless we’re married?" He teases her by gently licking her ear and finds her body quivering involuntarily. Rather than stop, he does it again, "Why are you so old-fashioned? Nowadays, young couples call each other hubby and wifey. If you don’t call me that, I might have to punish you."
Suddenly, Chenxing pushes him away and stands up, her eyes innocently staring at him. After three seconds, she stammers, "...hubby, can we go set off fireworks?"
