Chapter 534 - 537: Continue Sleeping, I am Here_1
At that moment, she noticed a woman at a distance staggering with every step, unable to maintain her balance. She stumbled after only a few steps, with her panicked daughter trying to support her.
"Sister Jingru."
Recognizing the collapsing woman, Chenxing briskly let go of Gu Shaocheng and rushed toward Wen Jingru.
"Chenxing, what are you doing?" Gu Shaocheng snapped at Chenxing from behind her.
"It’s Sister Jingru!" Chenxing called out over her shoulder as she quickened her pace. She arrived in front of Wen Jingru in a flash. "Sister Jingru, is that really you? What’s wrong?"
"Who are you?" Jingru’s secretary responded, turning her wary eyes toward this unfamiliar girl, her urgency leaving little room for further inquiries. "Miss, please help me."
"Of course." Chenxing promptly stepped forward to lend a hand. Together, they guided Wen Jingru to a seat in the nearby rest area. Having once been a nurse, Chenxing felt her forehead and observed her pupils, the sight of which sent a jolt through her. She had never seen Jingru in such a weakened state.
The Jingru she knew was a formidable businesswoman, eternally gracious and energetic, single-handedly managing her family’s large corporation;
Yet at this moment, Jingru appeared as if drained of life.
"What happened?" Gu Shaocheng had by now caught up to them. "Why are you here?"
Jingru’s secretary elaborated: "I was accompanying President Wen on a layover in City A - we were planning to return to City E - when she suddenly fell ill."
"Sister Jingru, you seem incredibly weak. If you’re not feeling well, let us take you to the hospital."
Without raising her head, Wen Jingru managed to shake her head and swallowed down the bitter feeling rising in her throat. With a hand on her temple and feigning nonchalance, she said, "I’m fine, probably just fatigue and low blood sugar. I just need to rest for a bit."
"Sister Jingru, it would be best to go to the hospital. You seem rather troubled. Are you facing some difficulties?" Did she discover that Brother Wuqing has an illegitimate child? Chenxing mulled over this possibility before suggesting to Gu Shaocheng, "Shaocheng, let’s take Sister Jingru to the hospital first."
"I’m really alright. What are you doing in City A? I have to catch a connecting flight back to City E soon. I’ll be fine after a good rest at home." Jingru had received some information indicating that Jiajia may have been abducted and taken to City E, so she was eager to return.
Thousands of questions buzzed in her mind. How could Jiajia have been kidnapped to City E? Could it have been Wuqing...
With her mind unable to process the situation clearly, she was in a state of turmoil. If Jiajia’s true identity was discovered by Wuqing... The bitterness swelled within her. What would become of her Jiajia?
Looking at Gu Shaocheng before her, resentment churned within her.
However, right after she finished speaking, she felt the world spinning around her until everything faded into blackness.

In the hospital, the faint scent of the disinfectant permeated the air.
Jingru gradually regained consciousness from the abyss of darkness. Shortly, she became aware of a man’s presence, enveloping her. As she opened her eyes, before she could make out his face, a gentle kiss landed on her forehead. "The doctor said you’ve been thinking too much and need to rest. Continue to rest, I’ll be right here."
Bai Wuqing had just received a call and had rushed from City E to this hospital in City A.
His voice, like his demeanor, worked like a sedative, softly mollifying her troubled heart.
...Visited the graves in the morning, went to the hospital at noon. It’s late, and only now I found time to write. I’ve been quite tired these past few days, often getting less than four hours of sleep. The house has been chaos. Please excuse the slow updates.
