Chapter 423 - 426: An Extra Million in the Account 8_1
Though caught red-handed, Chenxing’s brain was working quickly. Noticing that he wasn’t angry at her, she breathed a slight sigh of relief. Then, with half-closed eyes, she said, "I’m totally drained."
She had partied too hard the night before and was still feeling sore, barely having any strength left.
The rascal who had been indiscreet in the middle of the night was now dressed in a crisp suit, looking refreshed. Chenxing bit her lip; it wasn’t fair at all. He was the one who had done all the work, so why was she the one that couldn’t get up?
She quietly cursed in her mind.
Gu Shaocheng looked at the red spot on her chest and smiled in interest. Chenxing glanced down and hurriedly covered herself with the blanket.
Then gave him a glare.
He didn’t react, just kept observing her from a superior stance, as if waiting for something.
"What’s up, Shaocheng?"
Chenxing could no longer bear it, she gazed at him with her swollen lips.
"See what time it is now."
Chenxing took out her phone obediently and saw that it was only half-past six. Huh? Two text messages. She groggily opened them and in the next second, her eyes popped wide open. She blinked once, blinked again, and continued blinking. She rubbed her eyes, mumbling, "( ⊙o⊙ ) Wow, am I seeing things?"
Two notifications from Amazon, stating that two substantial payments have been wired into her Amazon account.
It was a huge sum of money!
One for 100,000 Renminbi!
Another for 900,000 Renminbi!
Oh my God!
Chenxing shot up straight, "Gu Shaocheng, someone’s wired their money to the wrong account! Look, it’s in my account! Can I pocket it if it’s a mistake? Or could I be charged with theft if I don’t return it? Should I call the police?"
After hearing several news stories about people winding up in court for taking such windfalls, Chenxing had a lot to mull over.
Ill-gotten gains.
What should she do?
Gu Shaocheng didn’t pay any heed to her and went into the bathroom to freshen up.
Chenxing was conflicted. Should she keep it for herself, or call the police?
After pondering for a while, she logged onto MSN, entered a chat group, and asked the members who were all logged in via mobile.
Chenxing: I’ve got something to tell you guys.
No one responded. Were they all sleeping?
She continued: I woke up this morning to find 1 million Renminbi in my Alipay account. What should I do? Someone must have wired it to the wrong account. Should I return it?
Huanhuan: Wow! Money falling from the sky? Why don’t I get such good luck?
Luo Xi: Give it to me, we’ll split it.
Jingru: One million, that’s not a lot.
Huanhuan: Sister Jingru, not all of us are as rich as you.
Jingru: It’s Brother Wuqing on here, Jingru’s in the shower.
Huanhuan: o(╯□╰)o
Chenxing: Brother Wuqing, since you’re here, should I return the money? Could the police charge me with theft?
Jingru: No problem, just keep it. Even if there’s trouble, the police won’t do anything to you. Plus, you’ve got me, a top lawyer, backing you.
Huanhuan: Exactly, it’s not like you stole it. If they made a mistake, it’s their problem. Chenxing, we’re besties, right? Tell me, right?
Chenxing: Yes, we are.
Huanhuan: Good, today all the things that I want, you’re paying for it. Since it’s found money, don’t refuse this little lady if you’re really my friend.
