Women always take their time when they’re heading out; he decided to sit in the car and wait.

Time slipped away, minute by minute.

He ended up waiting for a full hour.

Summoning his bodyguard, he picked up his phone and speed-dialled Chenxing, asking, "Where are you?"

The woman who had been waiting till her legs ached finally received a call from Gu Shaocheng. She hurriedly replied, "I’m at the main gate."

Gu Shaocheng got out of the car, looking left and right. No one was there.

He let out a small sigh and patiently asked, "Where exactly are you at the main gate? Can you see me? Can you see my car?"

Under the dim streetlight, Chenxing looked around and said, "No, I’m right in front of the flower bed at the main gate. Can you see me? I’m wearing red."

"There’s no flower bed at the main gate..." Gu Shaocheng realized something was off mid-question. He paused, then quickly changed his line of questioning: "How many main gates does this compound have?"

Huh? Chenxing was taken aback. "I don’t know, I’m not very familiar with this place. I am at the main gate, I usually enter and exit from here."

"In which direction is that?" Gu Shaocheng furrowed his brows.

Chenxing struggled to answer: "I don’t know."

"How can you not know anything? What DO you know then?"

Feeling wronged, Chenxing pursed her lips: "Hold on, let me ask the gatekeeper."

"Never mind, stay where you are and I’ll find you."

"Do you know what I’m wearing...beep beep.............." Chenxing didn’t manage to finish her sentence before the call ended. She looked at her phone, feeling frustrated. Had she upset him again?

She still went to ask the gatekeeper. Turns out, there were two main gates in the compound. The one she was at was the East Gate, and there was also a South Gate. Oh no! She scratched her head, knocked on her own head in disbelief, and then called Gu Shaocheng.

Before she could reach him, Gu Shaocheng had already made a call to his subordinate who was assigned to protect her. Learning that he was at the South Gate while Chenxing was at the East Gate, he felt as though he had been fooled by fate the entire day. If he’d known, he’d have called his subordinate initially. Why had he tried to show the patience of a "boyfriend who waits however late his girlfriend is"? It caused her to wait at the East Gate for over an hour for no reason!

His phone rang, but he didn’t pick up.

Chenxing kept calling until suddenly, two beams of headlights landed on her. Following which was the sound of a car horn. Blinded by the dazzling lights, she quickly blocked her eyes with her hand.

With a whoosh, the car had pulled up right in front of her.

Gu Shaocheng got out of the car. Under the dim light, she couldn’t make out his expression. As he approached Chenxing, she apologized, scratching her head, "Shaocheng, I didn’t do it on purpose, I thought there was only this gate, you waited for a long time, didn’t you?"

A quick peck landed on her face, taking her by surprise.

Gu Shaocheng finally let out his first smile in a long time, calm and relaxed, breezily saying, "Throughout the day, this is the one moment that fulfilled me."

"Huh?"

He scooped her up in his arms. All his frustration vanished, replaced by deep affection, "Don’t be upset anymore, sweetheart."
