Chapter 1416 - 1419: Emotions Are the Hardest to Control 8
But a visit in the dead of night?
Ling Yin had just gone to bed and turned off the lights when the doorbell rang. He reluctantly turned the lights back on and got up, stepping onto the balcony to look down. He thought it was some of his friends playing a prank, but unexpectedly, there were several cars parked downstairs and a group of people with an imposing presence, reminiscent of the grand style favored by important figures.
What’s going on?
Ling Yin stood upstairs observing the situation below.
In just a few seconds, he had already guessed the identity of the visitor, and it seemed that it could only be him.
Ling Yin straightened his attire and invited the guests inside: "Mr. Gu, please sit down. I didn’t expect you to come, I apologize for the lack of hospitality."
"It is I who should apologize for visiting without notice."
Having heard of some of his preferences before, fortunately Ling Yin had a box of fine tea at home. He brewed two cups and served them to Gu Shaocheng in the living room.
Gu Shaocheng sat with a domineering posture, casually examining the interior decor. They exchanged a few words about current politics and work arrangements. Before long, Gu Shaocheng went straight to the point: "Mr. Ling, today my brother borrowed your phone to call me. May I ask, do you know where he is now?"
"Even if you hadn’t asked, Mr. Gu, I was planning to speak about it. He’s in the room upstairs, as you probably already know what happened," Ling Yin said. "He was frightened today, so I let him sleep at my place. He finally fell asleep, and seeing that you arrived, I was hesitant to wake him. If you’re worried, I can take you to see him."
Gu Shaocheng breathed a sigh of relief and stood up: "Then I’ll trouble you."
Ling Yin also stood up: "No problem."
"Thank you, Mr. Ling. This isn’t a trivial matter, not knowing whether the plane encountering an accident was a result of unforeseen events or..." Gu Shaocheng, who was always sensitive, was prone to imagining conspiracy theories at the slightest hint of trouble.
Ling Yin thought not so deeply, also believing it wasn’t aimed at Hua Hua: "I heard that the cause of the accident is still under investigation, and it shouldn’t have anything to do with Hua Hua. Perhaps it was just an accident."
Gu Shaocheng remained silent, pondering something.
Hua Hua was still sleeping in the film room, curled up on the long sofa. It was hard to see his state clearly, but his face was quite pale.
Ling Yin stood nearby and explained: "He can’t sleep in the guest room. Watching a movie made him fall asleep quickly, so we didn’t dare move him, fearing he’d wake up and not be able to fall asleep again. At a time like this, it’s best to let him sleep soundly."
Gu Shaocheng thanked him and moved directly to lift him, ready to leave. Ling Yin, guessing that in the next second he would take Hua Hua away, quickly added: "Mr. Gu, it might be more appropriate to let him stay here for the night. Hua Hua and I are friends, and him staying over is just being a hospitable host. Besides, he was quite shocked today; waking him when his mind hasn’t recovered wouldn’t be wise."
Gu Shaocheng paused, his eyes showing his usual superiority: "Where is the guest room?"
Ling Yin secretly felt relieved, leading the way with a low voice, careful not to wake Hua Hua: "Mr. Gu, please follow me!"
However, he knew inwardly that since Gu Shaocheng had come personally to fetch him, Hua Hua would definitely be taken away.
He actually disapproved deep down, knowing that Hua Hua liked the man in front of him, and considering he had a wife and children, staying by his side would be painful for Hua Hua, though he didn’t know if the man before him was aware of Hua Hua’s feelings.
Ling Yin secretly observed, wanting to find some clues.
