Chapter 1128 - 1131: Tiny Fragments Shattered Everywhere 10
After a full ten minutes, Gu Shaocheng tried to stand up and walk around, but he found that his legs seemed to have no sensation at all. He continued to discuss business matters with Nan Baihao.
Chenxing ran upstairs to grab a blanket and came back to drape it over him.
She sat close to him, picked up the remote control, and changed the channel. A servant placed a fruit platter on the low table; she ate some mangoes, finishing two before wiping her hands with a tissue. "Shaocheng, check if your legs are feeling any better?"
Twenty minutes had gone by. Gu Shaocheng nodded and tried to stand, but his legs still wouldn’t move freely. He braced himself against the sofa, slowly attempting to stand, but couldn’t. "How long has it been?"
"Twenty minutes now."
Gu Shaocheng’s face changed instantly: "I can’t feel anything at all."
Nan Baihao glanced at Gu Shaocheng’s face. "Bro, what’s going on? Didn’t you say it would get better in a few minutes?"
"Maybe this time it’s taking a little longer." Gu Shaocheng explained, trying to comfort himself.
Chenxing bit down on her lower lip. "Doesn’t it seem like it’s taking too long?"
Suddenly, all three of them fell silent, and time began to drag painfully.
Twenty-five minutes later...
"No sensation!"
Thirty minutes later...
"I can’t stand up."
Thirty minutes later...
"Still no sensation."
Forty minutes later...
Gu Shaocheng’s voice trembled, and his hands were shaking constantly: "...I can’t stand up!"
Nan Baihao abruptly jumped to his feet. "Where’s Tian Buyu?"
Chenxing’s heart wrenched in pain, beating wildly. "He’s at Xiyuan. I’ll call Doctor Tian right away!"
"Hurry up!" Nan Baihao clutched his head with both hands, pacing frantically in the living room. His expression had grown utterly chaotic. Then he stormed over to Gu Shaocheng. "Bro, how about now? How are you feeling right now?"
Gu Shaocheng closed his eyes, offering no response.
That silent lack of answer had already conveyed everything. What followed was absolute chaos filling the villa.
In a stormy night of thunder and lightning, a team of over ten experts from Xiyuan arrived at Dongyuan with their equipment in tow. When Tian Buyu walked in, drenched from head to toe, he anxiously asked, "What happened exactly?"
"Shaocheng’s legs have no sensation; it’s been fifty minutes—almost an hour. Doctor Tian, it won’t... it won’t get worse, right?" Her eyes were red, her heart gripped by a vague but relentless sense of dread.
"Let’s examine him first before we say anything. Both legs are without sensation, correct?" Tian Buyu asked as the other specialists busily began setting up their equipment and someone started examining Gu Shaocheng’s legs.
As the person directly affected, Gu Shaocheng maintained an outward composure, "taking it all in stride," sitting there with a remarkably unperturbed expression as if he wasn’t scared at all. He said, "Neither of my legs has any sensation. I can’t control them."
An expert tapped on his knee and asked, "Do you feel any pain?"
"No pain, no sensation of any kind." He still managed to maintain a calm tone without losing his breath.
Nan Baihao seemed consumed by regret, alternately blaming himself—"It’s all my fault; I knew better than to mess around with Big Brother but didn’t act cautiously"—while clenching his fists tightly and muttering under his breath: "Tian Buyu, it’s only temporary, right? Tell me it’s temporary!"
Tian Buyu opened his mouth wide, hesitated for a moment, and then quickly closed it again. His expression visibly darkened. "I can’t confirm anything right now. We’ll need to finish the examination first. Why did it take you all so long to inform me? You should have called earlier!"
