Chapter 1087 - 1090: The Most Tragic Pregnant Woman in History 9
He realized that whenever he talked to this person, it was easy to get drawn in, answering whatever was asked of him.
This wasn’t a good thing!
He chuckled, turned the steering wheel halfway, switched to another lane, and changed the topic: "Brother Ling, why don’t I take you to City E’s most famous entertainment venue? There’s tons of stuff to do there. I’ve got plenty of friends; we can gather and have some fun together."
A steady voice came to his ears—Ling Yin spoke: "I’ll leave it up to you."
He slightly lowered his gaze, sitting quietly in the passenger seat, exuding an inexplicably strong presence.
Hua Hua quietly turned on the car’s stereo, thinking how this man seemed to carry an air that said ’go ahead, do whatever you want,’ while simultaneously demanding that he remain in control. Ling Yin subtly flicked his gaze, casually scanning Hua Hua’s face.
Hua Hua pursed his lips slightly.
Unexpectedly, the other man steered the conversation back to the earlier topic, as if particularly interested in his life: "So, you’re an orphan?"
Ling Yin’s voice carried a quiet calm, not off-putting in any way. Although Hua Hua didn’t want to be led back into the subject, he had to admit that talking to Ling Yin actually felt good—comfortable even—despite the sensitivity of the topic.
Without realizing it, he responded: "Yeah, I guess."
Ling Yin smiled faintly: "It’s really no big deal. I don’t think being an orphan is anything significant—I’ve got plenty of brothers and a group of good friends."
Ling Yin nodded lightly: "It’s true, not a big deal. I’m an orphan too."
"Huh?" Ling Yin’s disclosure instantly made Hua Hua feel closer to him. He blinked in surprise a few times: "I didn’t see that coming. So we both share a bit of that ’fellow wanderers’ connection, haha."
Ling Yin stared at him for a few seconds. For reasons he couldn’t fathom, a strange feeling welled up inside him—not overwhelming, just faintly discernible, like the feeling he’d had the first time he saw Hua Hua back in the bar. At the time, Tian Jun had decided to leave, so he’d left too, not thinking much of it.
Now, as he looked at Hua Hua again, the same feeling rose within him.
"Brother Ling, what are you staring at me for? Is there something on my face?"
Ling Yin masked his thoughts, withdrawing his gaze as he answered casually: "Your features are quite striking."
Hua Hua laughed carelessly, playful as ever: "Haha, lots of people say that. There was even a magazine once that analyzed my face—they said it’s a ’golden ratio,’ carved by the gods. The praise was so exaggerated it was ridiculous."
"Hua Hua, how old are you this year?"
"Maybe 22 or 23. Honestly, I have no idea when I was born. I just guessed and put my age down as 22 on my ID. But who knows—it’s like you said, we orphans, who the hell knows what year we were born?"
For real, he didn’t even look his age. Thinking back, he should’ve made himself even younger back then—claimed to be eighteen or nineteen. People probably would’ve bought it!
But it was too late now! He was a public figure—how could he randomly change his age? "What about you, Brother Ling?"
Ling Yin’s gaze shifted to the car window, his mind wandering far away: "I’m 24—born September 8th on the Gregorian calendar."
"Oh, then you’re luckier than me. I don’t know about those kinds of things." Hua Hua found the topic utterly dull. Luckily, they were almost at their destination. He steered the car into the basement parking of a grandiose entertainment venue, pulled out his phone, and contacted a few friends. Sure enough, they were all there. Grinning, he led Ling Yin to go find them.
