Chapter 1056 - 1059: The Illness Can’t Be Concealed 5
Feeling very sleepy, Chenxing rubbed her temples and slowly strolled back home with her bag in hand.
She didn’t walk through the outer courtyard but took a detour through a small path to the inner courtyard instead.
Lately, the outer courtyard was either being set up for a banquet or hosting one, bustling and noisy. Whenever possible, she chose to bypass it, as a pregnant woman who preferred quiet over noise.
Strolling leisurely in the inner courtyard alone, she noticed a few people hurrying about in the distance.
Chenxing didn’t pay much attention and leisurely wandered around the courtyard for a while until she reached the living quarters, where she sensed something was off.
She grabbed someone at random and asked, "What happened?"
"The gentleman was riding horses at the equestrian field, and it seems he accidentally fell off..."
"What? What did you say?" Chenxing’s casual demeanor immediately tensed up upon hearing the servant’s words; not waiting for him to finish, she rushed towards the living quarters.
She bypassed the main hall and arrived at the bedroom door.
Before she could burst in, she heard Nan Baihao’s loud voice: "How on earth did you fall off the horse without any reason? Was it someone’s doing, or was there something wrong with the horse?"
His brother had just mounted the horse and had ridden for less than a minute before falling off right before his eyes, startling everyone.
The entire equestrian field was now in chaos. He had it completely sealed off, determined to find out what went wrong! But before boarding the car, his elder brother told him not to make such a big fuss and withdrew everyone, adding there was no need for an investigation; it was just his own carelessness, no conspiracy!
How could there be no conspiracy?
He clearly saw his brother start off steadily; there was no way he could have fallen. His brother’s safety was always meticulously ensured; if he found out someone had tampered and caused his brother to fall, he would never let off those who were up to mischief.
Gu Shaocheng casually reiterated, "It was just that I didn’t sit tight."
Nan Baihao was utterly unconvinced. How could such a skilled horseman fall just because he wasn’t seated properly?
"Brother, don’t hide anything from me if there’s something wrong."
Hua Hua stood beside, her beautiful peachy eyes slightly constricted with concern, then he let out, "Bro, have you fallen ill? Last time at the golf course you took a fall, and today at the equestrian field again you fell, and that time in the bathroom when you just sat on the floor and couldn’t get up, did you fall in the bathroom too?"
Gu Shaocheng’s heart sank slightly, but his face remained calm.
Hua Hua, anxious, pressed further: "Brother, tell me, you can’t keep your illness from me."
"Talking nonsense," Gu Shaocheng lightly laughed and tossed a book at him from beside: "You’re the one who’s ill, having hysteria."
Nan Baihao also kicked Hua Hua lightly: "Right, hysteria. What illness could brother have? It must be someone tampered with the horse. Are you cursing our brother by suggesting he’s ill?"
After listening for a while from outside the bedroom, Chenxing walked in. She quietly approached, remembering what Shaocheng had said about not wanting to see her cry, so she composed herself before entering. Sitting down beside the bed, she looked at Gu Shaocheng, her eyes filled with concern: "Shaocheng, you fell from the horse? Are you alright?"
"Twisted it." This time he really did twist his leg!
Doctor He was squatting beside him applying a cold compress, and the swelling around his ankle was very pronounced.
