Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife

Chapter 327: I Owe Him

Chapter 327: I Owe Him

Adam hesitated for a moment, seemingly picking up on the difficulty May was facing on the other end of the line, and softly said, "Alright, I won’t say anymore. I’ll go take care of Vincent now."

After hanging up with Adam, May felt a bit embarrassed as she handed the phone back to Victor, but Victor had his back to her and didn’t see it.

"Here’s your phone back..." May said to Victor, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Only then did Victor turn around, giving her a cold glance, but he didn’t take the phone from her hand. "Aren’t you still waiting for Adam’s call? Confirm everything first before you return it to me."

May awkwardly lowered her head, apologizing to Victor, "I wrongly blamed you earlier, and I’m apologizing now."

Seeing her sincerely apologizing while lowering her head, Victor let out a breath and reached out to take the phone from her, while also grabbing her hand and pulling her back to the ground.

"Tell me the truth, do you still want to go back to him?" Victor turned his head and asked May, his thoughts in turmoil.

May didn’t dare to look into his eyes, so she lowered her head and murmured softly, "I’ve already married you, I won’t go back, but I want to see him. I want to know that he’s still alive in this world."

Victor reached out to touch May’s small face, suddenly gritting his teeth, "What if I don’t plan to take you back?"

He’s not a fool; how could he trust her words? She says she won’t go back now, but once she meets that man, old feelings will surely reignite, and there’ll be no place for Victor.

May thought Victor had come to discuss going to see Vincent, but instead, he turned around and said this, making her face turn cold with anger.

"Victor, do you really have to treat me this way?"

"Yes, I’m not going to easily send you back to that man. No matter what his intentions were for treating you that way before, you’ve agreed to marry me now. Since you’re my wife, I have a reason to control your freedom."

Victor, determined, suddenly turned and walked towards the door, not planning to entangle with May any further. "Tonight I’ll sleep in another room. Rest assured, I’ll do everything I promised, but I also hope you’ll keep your promises to me."

"Victor!" May shouted angrily as she watched Victor retreat and leave.

As Victor left, he suddenly tossed his phone onto May’s bedside. "I’ve disabled the fingerprint lock for you. You can now use my phone to call whoever you want, but there’s one thing—I won’t allow anyone to take you away."

Looking down at the phone he tossed over, May was about to speak, but Victor had already resolutely shut the door and left.

About ten minutes later, Victor’s phone rang. May quickly picked it up to see it was indeed Adam calling.

"May, I’m at the hospital. I just checked on Vincent. He’s okay. Although he’s not awake yet, he’s not in any life-threatening condition." Adam quickly reassured May through the phone.

Thinking about how Vincent was still in a coma, May suddenly felt some sadness and asked Adam, "Adam, can you take some photos for me? I want to see how he is."

Adam was stunned for a moment on the other end of the line before cautiously asking, "Is it convenient for you over there? If it is, should I video call you?"

May immediately nodded several times in succession. "Yes, please, quickly video call me."

Taking advantage of Victor’s absence, May quickly and boldly instructed Adam.

After a few seconds of hesitation, Adam sent over the video link, and May quickly clicked it open to take a look.

In the video, Vincent was lying still in the hospital bed with his eyes closed. His face looked extremely pale, and he appeared to have lost a lot of weight. His already-defined facial features looked even more profound.

Adam pointed the video at Vincent’s chest and arm, showing May his injuries.

"You see, he’s really seriously hurt. The doctors said he’s lucky to be alive. The shrapnel has been removed from his body, but due to severe blood loss, he’s still in a coma. There’s no telling when he’ll wake up; it’s really up to fate."

Seeing Vincent’s current condition for a few moments, Adam quickly shifted the camera back to himself, fearing that the more May looked, the more distressed she’d become.

"May, don’t worry too much. Since you’ve chosen Victor, just live well with him. As for Vincent, we’ll do our best to take care of him."

May, wiping her tears, told Adam, "I didn’t expect things to end like this. If I had known he would be attacked halfway, I wouldn’t have made that call. I wouldn’t have hinted that I was going to marry Victor. I wouldn’t have intentionally hurt him. I didn’t know anything back then; I only knew Brianna died and wanted to taunt him, to see his pain. But I didn’t know he was doing all this for my good."

Regarding Vincent, Adam was also at a loss for words. Few men could go as far as he did.

"Vincent was truly selfless with you. Back then, he purposely made things difficult for you so you wouldn’t get hurt. Maybe he didn’t even think he’d survive that battle, so he wanted to give you to Victor to ensure you had a future if he died."

"Stop saying that, Adam. I’m the one who owes him. I’ve wronged him." At this moment, May was already crying uncontrollably, sobbing her heart out.

In that moment, she swore to herself that even if she couldn’t be with Vincent, she would at least go back to his side and see him safely through this, to at least atone a little for her sins against him.

After hanging up with Adam, May clung to her pillow, almost unable to sleep through the night. The only thought in her mind was to go back; she had to go back.

But with Victor making things so difficult, how could she convince him to agree?

The next morning, as Victor got up to call her for breakfast, he opened the door to see May staring at him with tear-swollen eyes.

Seeing she might have cried all night, Victor also felt an ache in his heart, but no matter how pained, he couldn’t lose his basic sense of reason.

"I asked the housekeeper to make you breakfast. Go down and have something to eat? You haven’t eaten a thing since yesterday," Victor said as kindly as he could, walking over to May and speaking to her gently.

"Can you take me back? I just want to see him once. Once he’s awake, I’ll definitely come back to you. Don’t worry, I’m your wife now, and I won’t go back on my word to make you lose face."

Victor lowered his head as he picked up his phone, sighing helplessly, "You don’t understand. This isn’t about saving face; it’s about a basic duty of a husband. How can I possibly let my wife go see her old flame? Am I crazy?"
