Chapter 10 Gods
Chapter 10 Gods
"Could it be..." Su Jue recalled everything that happened tonight and had a rather bold idea: "Go back and rest today. Are you free tomorrow? If so... let's meet here at eight o'clock."
"Okay, I'll be going then." Xu Menghe looked at Su Jue with a puzzled expression, but didn't ask any further questions.
Su Jue looked up again, smiled at the eye, and looked at it.
Su Jue tried it out, and he indeed copied Xu Menghe's technique. He then tried to activate the technique and actually completely healed the injury on his shoulder.
From this perspective, Xu Menghe's method should limit the extent of her healing.
The next day was indeed sunny, and Su Jue arrived at the hospital before eight o'clock as agreed.
It wasn't until around 8:30 that he finally saw Xu Menghe rubbing her eyes and walking towards him.
"You've arrived already? So you arrived at 8 o'clock instead of leaving at 8 o'clock?" Xu Menghe glanced at the time: "How should I put it, I haven't even asked you to do anything for me yet and you've already come to me."
"Do you know of any strongholds of evil sorcerers?" Su Jue asked, handing over a cup of milk tea, which he had bought while waiting for Xu Menghe.
"Quite sensible... I know about outposts, there are quite a few places like that. What, you want to cause trouble?" Xu Menghe glanced at Su Jue while flipping through the documents.
"Perfect timing, there's a stronghold I need to destroy anyway, so consider it the first thing you do for me! Several puppets have died recently, and after investigation, we found that none of them had faces, so the organization suspects that..." Xu Menghe sent Su Jue a folder containing a list of a Thousand Faces Cult stronghold and what the people inside were doing.
"Okay." Su Jue put away her phone. "I took a taxi, I'll be there in a bit."
"Don't we need to call Fang Qi? What if I sell you out?" Xu Menghe took out the photo of the two of them holding hands again.
"Let him rest for a day. He wasn't feeling well yesterday. Oh, and here, take this." Su Jue took out a pair of new earplugs.
"Earplugs? You wouldn't..." Xu Menghe recalled the incident that afternoon when Su Jue recited the sorcerer's three words.
Is this guy really going to do something so horrifying that it sends chills down my spine again?
"There's something I need to test. You don't have to wear it if you don't want to," Su Jue said, pulling her hand back a little.
"Hey, no! I'll take it." Xu Menghe reached out and snatched the earplugs from Su Jue's hand.
"Only 20 experience points for the last mission? That's so stingy..." Su Jue heard Xu Menghe mutter to herself in the car.
"What?" Su Jue looked at her.
"Huh? It's nothing, just a game!" Xu Menghe smiled awkwardly.
Half an hour later, the two arrived. After getting out of the car, they walked for another ten minutes to reach their destination.
An abandoned warehouse in the suburbs.
The warehouse door was tightly shut, but Su Jue, intending to cause trouble, used magic to blow it open.
There were more than ten people and two human-faced demons locked up in the warehouse.
They had heard the noise outside the door and were planning to hide in the pre-existing basement, but they never expected that the person would blow up the door.
However, they became firm again when they saw who it was: a child of about ten years old.
"Looking for trouble with the Thousand Faces Cult? Don't you want to live?" one of them shouted.
"I'm here to cause trouble for your Thousand Faces Cult, so what? You were raising that damn human-faced demon, give it a good beating!" Xu Menghe crossed her arms and looked smugly at the Thousand Faces Cult members inside.
She had already put on her earplugs by then.
……
Half an hour ago.
"What are you planning to do with them?" Xu Menghe hesitated for a moment, then turned to ask Su Jue.
"I've read the information before; the Warlock's Three Sayings are something all Warlocks suddenly know the moment they awaken."
"It's as if warlocks are born knowing these three sentences, but I'm different; someone else told me. Do you know what that means?" Su Jue said, leaning against the window and looking at the eye in the sky.
"That explains... your specialness? You're the only sorcerer who isn't affected by the gods," Xu Menghe said. He had never heard of any sorcerer who learned the Three Words of the Sorcerer later in life.
The identity of a sorcerer is innate; anyone who hears three words from a sorcerer at birth will become a sorcerer.
Conversely, those who cannot hear will never be warlocks in their lifetime.
This is a settled conclusion.
"And the person who told me that, I always thought that once I found him, the problem wouldn't be a problem anymore, but after all these years I haven't had a single clue." Su Jue took a sip of milk tea.
"I told you, the person who told me the three words of the warlock, I can't see his face, I can't remember his voice, and I can't even tell his height or gender."
"I always thought it was because I was young at the time, but now I have a different idea." Su Jue took another sip of the milk tea in her hand, but it was already empty.
"Is it related to that Zhang Fuyin?" Xu Menghe took out her phone early and recorded what Su Jue said.
"The one who attacked us yesterday wasn't a zombie, but a sorcerer who can manipulate corpses. You told me his name was Zhang Fuyin. I went after him, and when he failed, he only managed to recite half of... a spell-like phrase, before disappearing. When I came back, none of you remembered him." Su Jue explained the events of last night.
"So you suspect that your inability to remember that person is related to Zhang Fuyin's disappearance, but someone who can do something like that shouldn't be human, right..." Xu Menghe was actually a little skeptical. Even gods had never been heard of having such a significant impact on reality.
Killing a person is considered a major interference with reality, but to completely erase a person's existence from the world?
……
just now.
"Cover your ears and step back," Su Jue reminded Xu Menghe before the experiment.
"OK." Xu Menghe gave an OK sign, then dropped a recording pen and ran away.
"Enough talk, charge!" At the leader's command, all the followers rushed forward. They ran in a very casual manner. Su Jue had been puzzled when she met Wang Wei before. These people from the Thousand Faces Cult didn't seem like cult members at all; they were more like gangsters, except for that fake Wang Wei.
"The end of the old world." Su Jue slowly uttered six words. As soon as these six words came out, all the followers who heard them, including the human-faced demon, stopped moving, as if they had forgotten what they were supposed to do in an instant.
"The beginning of a new world," Su Jue slowly uttered the next sentence.
At this moment, Xu Menghe, who was outside the warehouse, noticed that a large patch of dark clouds was rapidly approaching them from a distance.
The "eyes" that were originally staring at Su Jue also looked to the other side, towards that large mass of dark clouds.
Xu Menghe took out her phone to take a picture, but as soon as she opened the camera, the screen turned into a mosaic.
He was supposed to stop reading here, since Su Jue only knew these few sentences, but then a sentence suddenly popped into his mind.
"I am willing to offer everything to welcome your arrival, my Lord—"
"The End of the World."
Su Jue involuntarily read aloud the words that suddenly appeared in her mind.
"That is... a god..." Su Jue seemed to be nailed to the spot, his eyes instantly filled with a monotonous blackness, but he seemed to see it.
A darkness enveloped him, threatening to devour him.
Just as Su Jue felt she was about to be completely swallowed up, countless faces appeared in the darkness—human faces, animal faces, and even mountains and rivers.
Although it was indescribable, Su Jue knew for certain that it was the end of the world and the plight of all living beings.
At the same time, in the sky, countless small faces collided with black, tentacle-like things.
Silence, eeriness.
At this moment, it felt as if the end of the world was imminent, and everything would be destroyed in their struggle.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Jue's body went limp. He lay on the ground and vomited, spewing out some thick, black liquid, in which were mixed tiny faces.
With her last bit of strength, Su Jue threw a torch up, and the faces that were burned screamed, "Get away!"
"What happened? A dark cloud just came from the horizon, and there was a big eye. Did you know they were fighting in the sky? What did you bring here?" Xu Menghe slowly helped Su Jue up and recounted the terrifying scene she had never seen before in her life.
She could roughly guess that Su Jue might have recited a spell related to the gods.
"I just recited half of the incantation, and then a god told me the second half of the incantation. It must have been for some reason that I recited it involuntarily. Then He came to me, but I don't know why, the gods of the Thousand Faces Cult saved me." Su Jue gasped for breath.
"There's something wrong with this god... I've never heard of anyone actively tempting sorcerers to summon them." Xu Menghe said, turning around to look. "Besides, all those human-faced demons and their followers are perfectly fine. This is clearly aimed at you."
Inside the warehouse, all the cult members lay unconscious on the ground, including the human-faced demon, who remained perfectly still, as if nothing had happened.
Su Jue doesn't even dare to think about that terrifying name now; that darkness still seems to envelop him.
A glimpse into the lives of all beings...
Su Jue silently recited it in his mind, and then a sentence suddenly appeared in his mind—
"You can be close to all gods, but stay away from Him."
