Chapter 165
Chapter 165
Chapter 165: This is Feng Siruo’s House? Are You Crazy?
The next day at noon.
The weather was relatively nice. Jiang Zhou, carrying a backpack, followed his uncle’s family off the plane.
This was Beihai, an international metropolis known as a brilliant pearl.
Because it’s located on the southern coast, the winter here isn’t as cold and dry as in the north.
The group walked out of the arrival channel and came to the airport’s main hall.
“I have to meet with the big boss. You guys find a place to rest first.” Jiang Zhou’s uncle instructed while taking their luggage. “Don’t go too far from here, after all, you don’t know the area.”
His uncle’s name was Jiang Honghe. He was the sales manager of a private factory that mainly produced colored reflective glass.
He had come to Beihai with his boss to discuss a collaboration. However, he wouldn’t be participating in the meetings. At most, he would be organizing materials and booking itineraries. This left him with a lot of free time outside of work, which was why he took the opportunity to bring his family along for a short trip.
Jiang Zhou looked around and found the area to be quite secluded. “Uncle, didn’t Yuqi say your company booked rooms for you? Let my cousins and aunt go rest at the hotel.”
Jiang Honghe scratched his head, a little embarrassed. “The big boss hasn’t said anything yet, and I didn’t dare to book rooms on my own.”
“Oh,” Jiang Zhou replied. “Then we’ll just have to find a place for Auntie and them to rest first.”
“What about you?”
“I have something to do. I’m going out for a bit and will meet up with you at the hotel this afternoon.”
Jiang Honghe quickly cautioned him. “Don’t be late coming back. I’ll talk to the boss and see if you can share a room.”
Jiang Zhou smiled brilliantly. “Don’t worry, Uncle, I’ll be quick.”
“Good, then you go ahead. Call me if there’s any problem!”
“Mhm. You focus on your work.”
Jiang Zhou hailed a taxi for his uncle and helped him load his luggage.
People of his father’s and uncle’s generation grew up struggling. They didn’t like extravagance, so they took advantage of any freebies they could get.
But to Jiang Zhou, there was no shame in this. His father had told him stories of how his grandfather used to take them begging.
Although Jiang Zhou was wealthy now, he didn’t want to reject his uncle’s goodwill. They were family, after all, and it didn’t matter where he slept.
His uncle was used to taking care of him as an elder, so why should he show off in front of his own family?
Meanwhile, Jiang Yuqi tugged at his sleeve. “Big brother, where are you going?”
“I’m going to find a friend. You go find something to do.”
Jiang Yuqi quickly raised her hand. “No way, I’m going too!”
Jiang Zhou glared at her.
I’m going to see a girl! Why are you coming along!
You never stop talking the whole way there.
If Feng Siruo meets you, your chattering will make her cry.
“Alright, Yuqi. Don’t delay your brother. Go with Mom and find a place to eat.
“I remember reading online that there’s especially delicious braised bone near this airport.” Jiang Zhou’s aunt’s name was Wei Hongmei. She often bickered with Ms. Yuan Youqin, but that was just the inevitable rivalry between sisters-in-law.
She was kind to Jiang Zhou, though she was a little stingy.
“Mom, I just want to go with my brother!”
“You’re such a wild child. As soon as we leave the house, you want to run around. Do you want a spanking?”
“It’s my first time this far from home. I don’t want to waste a minute!”
“You’re a big girl, seventeen years old, and all you think about is playing!”
Seeing the mother and daughter about to start a fight, Jiang Zhou quickly agreed to let Jiang Yuqi come along.
Fine, go ahead. It doesn’t matter.
She’s a chatterbox, but there are ways to cure that.
I’ll just buy some duct tape at the convenience store and stick it over her mouth.
So, Jiang Zhou hailed a taxi and took Jiang Yuqi to the Qianqian Mountain Villa.
This was a manor that the Feng family had bought in the western suburbs of Beihai.
It covered over 300 acres. It used to be a wetland park that Beihai was developing, but funding ran out, and it got entangled in some official issues, so it was abandoned before it officially opened.
Later, the Feng family bought the park and converted it into a private residence. Because the initial blueprints were drawn for a park, it had mountains, lakes, and various pavilions and towers.
Last August, Qianqian Mountain Villa was even selected as one of the three largest private manors in the country.
Ten minutes later, Jiang Zhou and Jiang Yuqi got out of the car. The little girl, who was following him like a shadow, had her eyes wide open.
This… this is a house? Isn’t a house supposed to be four walls and a roof?
How could there be such a huge estate, stretching as far as the eye could see?
“Holy cow, Big Brother, this is your girlfriend’s house? Are they crazy?”
“Yeah, it’s been a while since I was here.”
Jiang Zhou took a deep breath, and some images from his past life surfaced.
The clearest was Feng Siruo leaving the Feng family, standing by his side, her eyes teary as she watched this iron gate slowly close.
“Don’t talk so much later. Be a lady, understood?”
“Okay.”
Jiang Zhou pulled out his phone and sent a message to Feng Yiyi.
[I’m at your house gate. Don’t tell your sister.]
Ten minutes later, a buzzing sound came from the main road of the manor. Then, a pink go-kart sped up to the main gate.
Feng Yiyi, wearing a helmet, jumped off and looked at Jiang Zhou with surprise.
“Brother-in-law, you really came? I thought you were lying to me!”
“Do I get a treat for lying to you? Where’s your sister?”
Feng Yiyi opened the gate. “She’s painting. Do you want to come in?”
Jiang Zhou looked up at the camera across the street. “Are you sure I can just walk in so boldly?”
“It’s fine. You go in first. I’ll delete the surveillance footage for you!”
“Good sister. You’re much more useful than Jiang Yuqi. She only babbles!”
Jiang Yuqi frowned. “I also eat!”
Jiang Zhou was helpless. “Yes, yes, yes, you’re absolutely right.”
Feng Yiyi looked curious. “Brother-in-law, is this also your little sister-in-law?”
“No, this is my cousin.”
“Your cousin? She’s about my age, right?”
Jiang Yuqi didn’t hesitate to speak up. “I’m 17. How old are you?”
Feng Yiyi thought for a moment. “I think I’m 17 too!”
“Alright, you two can chat later. Take me to your sister first.”
“I know. Are you that eager to see my sister?”
“I’m afraid your sister misses me so much she’s crying.”
Feng Yiyi’s eyes lit up. “How did you know?”
Jiang Zhou was slightly taken aback. “She’s actually crying?”
“I didn’t see clearly, but she must be on the verge of tears, though she won’t admit it.”
“It’s that serious, and you’re still babbling? You and Jiang Yuqi must be real sisters!”
Feng Yiyi stuck out her tongue and quickly let them in.
The estate was huge, and Feng Siruo’s small building was in the very back. It would take at least half an hour to walk there.
Jiang Zhou looked at Feng Yiyi’s go-kart. “Can this car fit two people?”
Feng Yiyi thought about it. “I’ve never tried.”
“Then why don’t we try?”
“I don’t think we can fit!”
“It’s fine. Jiang Yuqi can walk. You take me in first and solve your sister’s lovesickness.”
Feng Yiyi thought that made sense. So she nodded and got on the go-kart.
Jiang Zhou sat on the raised engine in the back.
Honk, honk, honk!
The engine roared, and the two sped away.
—
Five minutes later, the car stopped on the side of the road, with smoke coming from underneath the chassis.
Jiang Zhou immediately jumped off, narrowly avoiding burning his butt.
Feng Yiyi felt like she would never be happy again.
“Waaah, you mean brother-in-law! This is my favorite one!”
“Don’t be mad. Brother-in-law will buy you a new one. How much is it?”
Feng Yiyi held up two fingers. “Twenty thousand.”
Jiang Zhou’s eyes widened. “Damn it, a ride at the amusement park only costs me five yuan!”
“That’s a toy car. Mine is a competition go-kart. It can go up to 150 kilometers per hour!”
“Never mind. I didn’t bring enough cash. I’ll owe you for now.”
Feng Yiyi pouted angrily. “So what do we do now?”
Jiang Zhou was helpless. “We walk. What else can we do?”
While the two of them were talking, Jiang Yuqi had already caught up to them.
She glanced at the smoking go-kart and let out a cold laugh.
That’s it? That’s all it could do? And he wouldn’t even let me ride! Walking is faster than that stupid car!
“Jiang Yuqi!”
Jiang Yuqi was startled. “What is it?”
Jiang Zhou chuckled. “Your brother is getting old. Give me a piggyback ride.”
“I miss my mom…”
