Chapter 34 : Battle Against the Giant Monster

Chapter 34 : Battle Against the Giant Monster

Battle Against the Giant Monster

The main dining hall.

The breach in the wall had expanded to double its size, now wide enough for a dozen fish monsters to charge through at once.

But Chu Tianxing and the others were fighting in formation. With their superior weapons and martial arts skills, it didn't matter how brave or crazy the monsters were; they just kept breaking against the students' defensive line like waves on a rock.

Blood and gore splattered everywhere in front of their battle line. Severed limbs flew through the air while dying shrieks filled everyone's ears.

Yet Chu Tianxing's group didn't give an inch, holding their line steady as granite.

Truth was, most of the students in the dining hall had never seen real combat before. With how bloody and gory this battle is, it would be lucky if half of them could even use their martial arts properly.

But Chu Tianxing's calm and collected demeanor had a huge impact on his classmates.

Plus, the six strongest fighters from their class served as the backbone of the defense. By consistently holding the front line and fighting drenched in blood, they greatly bolstered their classmates' courage and gave them time to adapt to the battlefield.

Gradually, the students' hearts stopped racing, their legs stopped shaking, and they could actually work up some spit in their mouths.

They started to calm down, could actually use their weapons, and remembered their training. They worked with Chu Tianxing's group to hold the line and keep the monsters out.

But just when this side seemed secure, trouble erupted from the passageway.

A blood-soaked security guard came stumbling into the hall.

"There's an incredibly tough giant monster out there! The captain's been seriously wounded, we can barely hold the passageway anymore!"

Even the calm Chu Tianxing felt his heart skip a bit after hearing this news.

An incredibly tough giant monster?

The security captain was seriously wounded?

That captain was a master who'd opened all Twelve Principal Meridians and the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. A true pinnacle of the Inner Force Realm. Even that spellcasting fish monster from before had only weakened him without causing serious injury. And you are saying there is a new monster that could badly injure him even when fighting with advantageous terrain?

Chu Tianxing didn't have time to think it through. He called out to Qin Ling and Xiao Hu. "You guys handle this here. I'm going to help them out!"

With that, he cleaved down the fish monster in front of him and charged his way out of the monsters' encirclement with shield bashes.

The moment an opening arose, he charged through the corridor using his Thousand Li in an Instant.

When he arrived, he saw the security captain knocked out on the floor, bleeding with his right shoulder caved in.

At the corridor entrance, a mass of fish monsters kept up their frenzied assault while several security guards and crew members desperately fought them off.

But looking around, Chu Tianxing did not see any powerful monster capable of injuring the security captain so badly.

Though the fish monsters' assault was fierce, the corridor's narrow layout still prevented them from using their numbers effectively.

Even with the captain unconscious, the remaining guards and crew could hold the position. The corridor didn't look like it was in danger of falling.

Seeing the situation, Chu Tianxing frowned and asked a crew member who was setting the captain's bones.

"What kind of monster hurt the captain? Where did it go?"

The crew member's eyes were filled with terror, his face pale with lingering fear.

"It was a huge monster, almost three meters tall, with shoulders at least as wide as two regular fish monsters combined! It had this three-meter-long trident and took the captain down with just one hit while he was fighting at the passageway entrance. A few of us barely managed to drag the captain back to safety. But that giant only struck once before disappearing, we have no idea where it went..."

A three-meter-tall giant monster? Shoulders as wide as two regular fish monsters?

Looking at the passageway's height and width, Chu Tianxing immediately understood why the massive fish monster hadn't pressed its advantage after wounding the captain.

It was too damn big. It'd have to duck and hunch over to get through this passageway, shuffling forward awkwardly.

Once inside, it'd have no room to maneuver. The security captain had been injured precisely because he'd been forced to guard the narrow corridor with little to no room for maneuver and had to take that three meters trident head-on.

If that great monster were to force its way into the passageway, it would likewise become a sitting duck and suffer a devastating blow.

As long as the creature had half a brain and understood risk versus reward, it wouldn't stupidly charge into the corridor.

But if it hadn't pressed into the corridor, where the hell had it gone?

Chu Tianxing's thoughts turned for a moment, and his heart sank. Without another word, he activated his Thousand Li in an Instant and raced back toward the dining hall.

Just as Chu Tianxing was rushing back to the dining hall...

The ceiling above suddenly flashed blue, as if infected by some strange energy, then exploded into fragments.

A gray-scaled fish monster wielding a trident came crashing down through the gaping hole. It hit the dining hall floor with a thunderous boom, right in the center of the room.

This was the three-meter giant monster.

When it landed, its massive weight made the entire dining hall shudder. The tremendous impact immediately drew everyone's attention.

Even the top fighters who were busy fighting at the hole in the wall couldn't help but take a quick look back.

That one look made them suck in a sharp breath.

An icy chill shot from their tailbones straight to the tops of their skulls, making their scalps crawl and every hair stand on end.

So this was the "giant monster" that had seriously wounded the security captain?

With that size and that aura, no wonder the captain had been beaten so badly.

But if even the captain couldn't handle this thing, who here can possibly fight it?

If even experts like Xiao Hu and Qin Ling were intimidated by the massive fish monster, the other students were completely terrified.

The most critical point was its location. It had appeared in the center of the dining hall, behind their battle formation.

In front, waves of fish monsters kept charging through the wall breach. Behind them, this enormous fish monster had dropped from the ceiling...

If that monster attacked from behind, who could possibly stop it?

Just as the students were panicking and their formation was about to collapse without a fight, Chu Tianxing finally made it back to the dining hall.

His voice boomed out, "Hold the line! Don't worry about it. That bastard's mine!"

As he spoke, he unslung the ornate recurved bow from his back. His right hand flashed to the quiver at his waist, and in an instant, two arrows appeared between his fingers.

As quick as lightning, he nocked the arrows and drew the bow without even aiming and released the string.

Twang!

With the sharp thrum of the bowstring, the two feathered arrows shot forth like shooting stars, flying with absolute precision toward the eyes of the super-sized fish monster.

However, despite its massive bulk giving the impression of sluggishness, the creature's reflexes were faster than anyone expected.

The moment Chu Tianxing released the string, the giant monster raised its massive palm to shield its face.

Thunk! Thunk!

The dull impacts showed both arrows had struck its palm dead center.

These were shots that could punch through an elite's armor like paper, yet these same arrows only penetrated the giant monster's thick gray hide and barely sank half an inch into flesh before drawing shallow trickles of blood.

Even though his perfect shots had failed and the giant monster's reflexes and defense exceeded expectations, Chu Tianxing's expression remained unchanged, his eyes calm as still water.

He drew two more arrows and aimed for the creature's knees.

This time, the arrowheads barely broke through the monster's scales before bouncing off harmlessly, unable to damage the knee bones.

Even though he'd only been hit with a couple of shots that barely hurt, the giant monster got really mad. It forgot all about attacking the other students from behind and just started charging straight for Chu Tianxing with thunderous steps.

Its charge was like a living tank.

Those massive webbed feet pounding the floor made the entire dining hall shake with each step.

With its towering height and long legs, it reached Chu Tianxing in just a few strides and swung that three-meter trident in a vicious horizontal sweep.

The strike was so vicious that it seemed like even a solid iron statue would shatter into scrap metal under that sweeping halberd.

Fortunately, the dining hall had much more space than the narrow corridor.

Chu Tianxing didn't need to take this hit head-on.

Following the combat instincts granted by his Intuition, he didn't hesitate to drop his bow. His body dropped low as he used the Snake-Crawl Raccoon-Tumble and dodged the trident's sweep while going to all fours. He then pushed off hard, launching himself forward in a ground-hugging trajectory that brought him right to the giant monster's feet.

Next, he made an incredibly agile diagonal leap, slipping into the fish monster's blind spot.

The fish monster had no neck; its head was attached directly to its shoulders, making it unable to turn its head from side to side as flexibly as a human.

To observe their flanks, they had to turn their entire shoulders and upper body together.

So fish monsters always reacted a beat slower to flanking attacks.

Even with reflexes that defied its massive size, this giant fish monster couldn't overcome the natural limitations of its body structure.

With Chu Tianxing in its blind spot, the giant monster could only rely on sound to locate him, lifting its foot to stomp down where it thought he was.

But with his Intuition and cat-like agility, Chu Tianxing had already shifted position again. Quick as lightning, he circled behind the creature with both hands formed into claws, channeling power into his ten fingers as he struck at the backs of both the monster's knees with a vicious grab-and-tear motion.

Nine Yin White Bone Claw!

No matter how thick its hide or tough its scales, the area behind the knees was a natural weak point.

Chu Tianxing's Nine Yin White Bone Claw struck down with a wet squelch asall his ten fingers sank deep into the monster's knee joints.

Then he channeled power into a tearing motion. With a sharp snap, he actually ripped through the major tendons in both knee joints.

The giant monster roared in pain and crashed to its knees.

Chu Tianxing rose proudly to his feet, his palms striking like a ferocious gale and a torrential downpour, landing in a continuous chain of attacks on the monster's back.

Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms: Dense Clouds No Rain

A "ora ora ora" style rapid-fire palm strike combo.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!...

Palm strikes drummed against the monster's back like rapid-fire artillery.

The giant monster's tough scales quickly deformed, cracked, and fell. Flesh and blood splattered everywhere, and the sharp sounds of bones breaking could be heard.

Just as it seemed Chu Tianxing was about to pummel it to death in one go, the breastplate engraved with mysterious runes on the giant fish monster's chest suddenly burst forth with a blue halo of light that blasted out in all directions.

Chu Tianxing took the full force of the blast.

Thanks to his Intuition, he managed to execute Dragon Appears in the Field in a timely manner. His left palm traced a circle while his right hand stood upright, using palm force to create an impenetrable barrier.

Under the protection of Dragon Appears in the Field, the halo struck his body but did not injure him.

But the tsunami-like impact force still sent him flying backward through the air.

And after the breastplate had blasted out the blue halo to repel Chu Tianxing, it then overflowed with a soft blue light that washed over the wounds on the monster's back and behind its knees.

Both sets of wounds immediately began healing at a rate visible to the naked eye.

Even the major tendons at the knee joints that Chu Tianxing had torn apart started mending themselves.

Seeing this, the students' faces filled with despair.

What the hell is this monster?

Never mind that it has a knockback; it can even heal itself?

Even Chu Tianxing, who can kill the elite monsters and the spellcasters in one hit, can't do anything about it.

With a monster like this, who here can possibly defeat it?

However, the corner of Chu Tianxing's eye merely twitched slightly.

He maintained his state of extreme combat focus, his mind utterly unmoved by this sudden turn of events. Nor was he the least bit frustrated that his previous attack had been rendered null and void. He once again executed his A Thousand Li in an Instant and charged forward like a bolt of lightning.
